Where will Jonathan Kuminga go?
Is it possibile that he and his agent overplayed their hand and he will be now forced to sign with a team with way less money that he wants?
Is it possible they’ve over played their hand? Are you serious?
Lol yes, they’ve been over playing their hand since he entered the league.
Publically complaining about playing time and turning down more than fair offers all along the way
Bro is the new Schroder
At least Schroder is a good player lol
Yeah i feel like that one game on the lakers in the playoffs ruined his reputation. Dude was real nice, especially his first year with the lakers.
Good enough to be trade bait, bad enough to not stay on a team. He’s great with Germany tho.
Schroder fumbled one bag but never stopped working his ass off and recovered reasonably well. This more akin to Nerlens Noel if Noel was a much better player.
Are we sure Noel wasn’t a more effective basketball player than Kuminga? Noel’s body let him down more than agents or his play did.
Eh, Kuminga is a regular rotation player and was decent for some playoff games. Noel was handling his recovery after fumbling the bag by scarfing down hot dogs at halftime.
Then Noel went on to have his best NBA seasons (2018-19, 2019-20, and 2020-21, the last of which he led the NBA in DBPM) after recovering from injuries and turning down the big contract offer.
Kuminga is cheeks… the more opportunity he gets the more people realize it. Was always obvious, but now it’s undeniable
Noel was legit on the Knicks
Play for every team in the leage, speedrun mode.
While fumbling the bags all along the way
Schroder was never THIS bad lmao
He is better in international ball so he can play.
His game just never translated exceptionally well to nba ball for some weird reason.
He is solid tho.
It’s the agent/contract situation that is similar to Kuminga
Schröder is a borderline Hall of Famer at this point when you include his international resume and people are talking about him like he’s an absolute scrub
You’re getting downvoted but I agree with you. He was good/great on the Lakers. He’s an absolute menace with team Germany also.
You mean to say NBA champion Dennis Schroeder?
Kuminga has a ring too, doesn’t he?
Actually, yes
The difference is that Schroeder learned his lesson. This guy keeps making the same mistake over and over again
Yeah his agent is a known dumbass
Same one that talked Dipo into his contract misstep, if I remember right
and shitting on hof coach w 2nd most, total rings.
He’s basically Cam Thomas but in sought after role/position.
Playing himself is certainly a choice lol
The amount of people talking about where this borderline mediocre player will end up is insane
It’s because his agent has been leaking stories about Kuminga for years, so he has been in the news cycle a lot.
He’s the quintessential ball knowledge litmus test.
If you know ball, you instantly realize he’s ass. If you don’t know ball you see all the highlights and think he’s getting wasted by trash coaches like Kerr Snyder etc
Blaming Kerr for not playing a guy at the nba level is a sure tell the person has never played sports. These guys have been competing for minutes their whole life, it’s how they got to the nba. But suddenly the nba coach is a meanie for continuing this system of accountability?
These type of fans are peekaboo toddlers they think the only development possible is what they see on their tv screen and have no grasp for the practice, film room, weight room, and 1v1 training sessions that factor into how coaches decide who plays in the game. They didn’t play sports and don’t understand how a player earns minutes
Hes been continually been beaten for minutes by g-league, I drafted, and/or 2nd round players through his career.
When things tighten up in late game situations he became basically unplayable at one point. Basically insta bench in the last 5-6 minutes when he was in the rotation.
You can’t trust him to make the right play when it matters and thats something I think you don’t learn. Either you have it or you don’t lol.
I mostly disagree with your last paragraph. you absolutely can learn it through experience. You won’t learn it through practice but you will learn it through experience if you actually want to. Some guys, it seems, definitely can’t learn it no matter what though lmao.
Pretty sure Steve Kerr knows shit about basketball and Kuminga is not that guy hehe remember those Twitter circlejerks every time he had a game with a few good dunks with the Hawks?!, oh boy!
Warriors alum privilege
i dunno man we werent even talking about klay this much
Well yeah because there was a line out of the door to sign Klay
Where is kumbuckets line?
Seriously. He’ll be playing overseas within the next two years.
Nooo, haha
I’m not a fan, and I don’t want him on the wolves. But his destiny is an inefficient 20ppg scorer on lottery teams for at least another 5 years
I don’t think the league hates him, he’s just the product of a tight cap environment
Unlikely
Come on over to the Lakers sub for a bit. Many there are acting like this dude is the missing piece and is “superstar” quality. 50 years a Laker fan and recently I have seen some real asshats in the sub. Dude got bailed in by two teams and has no interest in a league dying for wing players. It’s obvious the league thinks he is trash. The fans haven’t caught up
Yeah same. They just blame Kerr.
Most real Lakers fans know he has not come close to showing he is a superstar but the current roster is really lacking a wing right now and if he plays decently could have a big impact in the upcoming season. Would not want to completely overpay though or have another 4th year player option.
No one is acting like he’s a superstar but we need what his hypothetical skillset implies
It’s August. Not much going on
Come to Sac on a prove it deal! 1 year with a PO. Lord knows we won’t ask you to ‘play in a system’ or ‘contribute to winning.’
Literally his best option
Except that he probably wouldn’t even start in Sacramento and the Kings won’t give him free reign.
The Pelicans seem to be a dumping/reclamation ground idk.
I’ve heard they’re interested in Mathurin lol.
can’t be pelicans bc if they develop him then he is liable to be traded to the hawks and the hawks are clearly saying no thank you on the kuminga experience.
I’m surprised Mathurin’s value went down. I thought his kamikaze strikes during the Finals would impress somebody haha
His style of play has really been devalued in today’s league - he also needed to ball out on the Clippers and he responded by shooting like 30% from 3.
There’s a real chance he takes the QO tbh.
As a Clipper, Mathurin also cut down the volume of 3PT shots he was taking, and upped his already-high FT rate, along with his rate of rebounds, assists, steals, blocks and points too. He just did a lot more in the minutes he got as a Clipper than during his time in Indiana.
Per 75 Possessions
Indiana - 20.0/5.7⁄2.3⁄0.8⁄0.3, 5.1 3PA, 6.1 FTA
LAC - 23.1⁄7.3⁄3.4⁄1.3⁄0.5, 4.2 3PA, 9.7 FTA
Smaller sample size with the Clippers obviously, but the way he was able to immediately shift and lean into his strengths more and be more active all over the court should be encouraging. He’s just turned 24 years old too, so is really just coming into his prime as an athlete.
Isn’t he a UFA?
RFA right now, will be UFA if he does take the QO
Sign and trade for Jarace Q and a pick, send it
He just is a high usage mediocre efficiency player who is a bad passer and defender. On the right team he’d be fine as a 6th/7th man but not worth investing significant money into. He’s at least better than Kuminga.
He and Kuminga play different positions lol
Aaron Turner has gotta be on the shortlist of worst agents in history. Woof.
It’s always a bad sign when you know the name of a player’s agent.
But everyone knows Rich Paul lol
Exactly
Nobody knows. I hope it’s Minnesota. Dude thinks he’s Kobe with the way he isos for middies. If he refused to defer to Steph fucking Curry, why would he defer to Luka Dončić or Austin Reaves
I’ve always said this, he cannot adapt to not being the main ball handler. Really only works on worse teams that need a main guy.
Also he’s a terrible ball handler. He apparently only wants to get stripped 8 times a game doing that dollar store weak ass spin move that he spams
Drive into traffic, double/triple pump-fake that no one bites on, spin towards the paint, lose the ball….. a classic.
You forgot to yell “Hey!” And then stare at the ref
Perfect distillation of the Kuminga experience
And a lot of the bad teams just got a rookie from a generational draft class. I don’t think those teams want a ball dominant player to come in & take away touches from their new guys. Bad time for him to be a free agent
Randle jr?
At this point his best role may just be leading bench units tbh.
Him denying the DHO with Klay, demanding a pick from Steph and running at the rim play is so jarring lol
Is there a clip of this? This sounds very bizarre
There is a clip of it and it ends with him dunking on someone so I don’t see the issue lol
Why would he defer to Lamelo of all people lmao
Exactly. My point is I hope he becomes their problem lol. I don’t want him on the Lakers
I get you, yeah he could definitely become another Ayton where he feels like his role should be bigger than he deserves it to be. Still, I’m a sucker for the upside swing, so I still hope we do get him
Everyone is just praying their team doesn’t sign him at this point
No thanks.
He thinks he’s Carmelo
Overplayed hand. Overvalued self. He should have signed with the Lakers and he woulda been on the Slovenia trip now. Instead he is at home eating Doritos on the couch. He’ll probably end up in Minnesota.
Minn would be a good fit
He only fits teams because they’re missing a 4. I don’t see how he ACTUALLY fits given he’s a ball dominant player (mediocre one). You don’t want him taking the ball from Ant, LaMelo, Luka, or Reaves.
He would be A fit on a good team. He’d have to play well enough to keep his starting job.
since the cavs got watson the only other team rumored to be getting him is the lakers who now have all the leverage in the world to give him a much lower contract than what he was looking for
hopefully that works out for him but it just seems like the wing version of ayton waiting to happen
Hey ayton really wasn’t that bad for us considering the contract. I’ll take another ayton experience that we can trade down the line for a few seconds
Ayton without espectations is good, he sometimes play well for a while and its incredible value for a small contract. But he also completely vanishes making no contribution to the game at all and you go mad because you see a lot of hard workers that has 10% of his skills and think “damn, if only this dumbass was not a dumbass”.
fair enough, just expect some frustrating moments throughout the season
The clippers on a minimum plus a lucrative endorsement deal with the company that made the urinals for the intuit dome.
Not a single promo crap will be filmed.
Lakers or Timberwolves on a prove it deal would be best for him atp, no team is taking him for anywhere near the money he wants. His agent absolutely screwed him over and very possibly ruined his career.
Lakers can’t take him on a prove it deal unless it’s literally the vet min.
Wolves can offer a bit more than the min.
Lakers are reportedly offering somewhere along the lines of 15m a year but via sign and trade, and sign and trade contracts have to be at least 3 years so if he really think he’s worth much more than 15m AAV, then in his mind he’s locking himself in for an underpay for 3 years.
That deal isn’t happening anyway. You can’t be over the first apron after a sign & trade and Lakers only have 8mil of space, the Hawks aren’t gonna take on Vanderbilt’s deal, especially when they are already at 17 players and they still need to find somewhere to dump 2 contracts eventually. Adding an 18th player that has no value and a difficult contract to trade would be moronic
Lakers and Hawks have agreed in principle, hold up is just Kuminga accepting that money
Reportedly by his manager.
I don’t hate any players, I don’t wish the worst for Kuminga.
But I am taking a little joy in having this fucker learn that when he isn’t attached to the Warriors all of a sudden those teams telling him they wanted to feature him, big role for him, will try to sign and trade for him, they already spent their money and it WAS NOT on Jonathan Kuminga.
He’ll either take a smaller than he wanted deal, lock in, and do all that shit Kerr wanted him to do that he only sometimes did, or else he’ll be out of the league in two more contracts.
You and I both. The amount of drama this kid caused the Warriors over the past 3 or 4 years was absolutely ridiculous… not to mention having his fanboys/agent bots spewing crap everyday on the sub.
At some point I will celebrate his success because he’s still got a lot of potential and should be a fun player to watch, but now’s the time to grow up.
Kerr has taken a lot of shit over the years because of how he dealt with role players and he’s been right every time
Kerr was a role player himself so he very well knows how to deal with one. The problem with Kuminga is that he doesn’t see himself as one. Let’s hope he opens his eyes
Yeah. Reminds me of what Draymond said recently, about how Iguodala & Livingston would tell Steph/Dray/Klay that they didn’t know the real, nastier side of the NBA.
Kuminga def wasn’t at Steph/Dray/Klay levels, but he was treated as a big future piece with the Warriors. So much coaxing, cajoling, & time spent trying to get Kuminga to buy in. So much media attention & chatter. Such a waste of time.
Guess Kuminga is experiencing a nastier side of the NBA now. I also hope he figures it out. If the drastic drop in salary doesn’t get him to lock in, nothing will.
facts
Guandong
Ni hao
Chy-na
lol!
The Kuminga experience has been crazy. If only he could just play like a smart nba player he’d be making 30m a year right now
I really hope he gets ran out the league. The biggest undeserving Diva in the game. Couldn’t crack on the rotation with a Warriors who were in desperate need of a young offensive player. Hawks paid nothing for him and have no problem letting him off for nothing. He is a dime a dozen player. Only offense, low IQ, locker room killer. Essentially cam Thomas
He is a below average player who can not shoot or play defense.
That’s a little unfair. He’s a terribly average player who thinks hes a number 1 option is more accurate.
A terribly average player who plays like they deserve to be a number 1 option is worse than an average player who knows they’re average and plays their role….. making him below average.
Go to the Nuggets on a cheapo 1 year prove-it deal. If Joker can’t make you look good then you need to go to either China or Europe. Best way to earn the contract he keeps holding out for.
No thank you.
I am not saying Kuminga is great but the Nugget’s bench is hot trash right now. And if ownership doesn’t want to spend then the only way you are gonna get an improvement in talent/skill is by taking risks and reclamation projects.
The Nugs have a couple players that are already ball dominant, but also proven to deserve that status. Kuminga has proven over and over again that he’d rather try to put up stats than play in the system provided. Our coaching staff isn’t strong enough for that. If Kerr couldn’t deal with him, Adelman sure as shit won’t be able to.
Demar just did that. Its LAL or Minny at this point for JK. Doesn’t look like ATL wants anything to do with a S&T.
Atl just doesn’t want to take any players back. They’d be more than happy to take a free 2nd for facilitating.
This is the way
Why do that when you can start in LA?
To purify himself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka
Pretty hilarious how every time this guy had a half decent game after the trade to the Hawks, everyone acted the Warriors were idiots and morons and Kuminga was a future star and only a moron with their eyes closed couldnt see it. Now no one’s even making any effort to get them on their team lmao. Turns out Steve Kerr knows shit about basketball!!
Jonathan Kuminga went from where’s my 20 million on a 120 million dollar contract offered to signing a two year 49 million contract with a second year team option.
If Kuminga was smart he signs the 1 year deal and left the 25 million on the table. Which would have completely tanked his trade value because his contract cost nothing and Warriors could only trade him at the trade deadline. Kuminga went full pussy and signed a 1 and 1 for 25 million a year. Guy played chicken and went from. 120 million to 25 million and probably no money this season.
Hopefully the Wolves on a 1 year minimum.
All the kuminga riders in the Warriors sub are dumb af and proving they’re just nephews that only watch highlights
Wolves and Lakers seem to be front runners. Luka got a lot of players paid, and LaMelo had a great chemistry with Bridges who is a similar players.
I think Pistons could be a dark horse, it would make sense for Kuminga to wait for them. They have \(48.5M under the tax line if they cut Tolu Smith, they could be able to fit both Duren and \)12-14M for Kuminga and stay under the tax. However, Duren’s new deal has to happen first, so it makes sense for Kuminga to wait until it’s resolved.
He’d be such a bad fit for the pistons
They need less shooting so Kuminga is the perfect fit :)
Ausar and Kuminga the clank bros
They are under the tax but over the cap. They would only have whatever is left of their mle to sign kuminga. But reality at this point is no one can offer him more than the mle and it’s likely no one will. He’s signing a minimum if it’s not with the hawks.
Are there any teams with any cap space left? MLE is an absolute best case scenario for him.
Bridges isnt a similar player to Kuminga. He is more athletic, he’s stronger and he knows his fuckin place, he understands the game much better also. The only problem with Bridges is the off court stuff, that he is a violent moron
Two things Kuminga and his agent will be looking for:
Money, First option will be any team that has the full NTPMLE which is around 15million starting salary. Only a handful of teams still have that and even fewer would use it or use it for Kuminga.
Playing time will be just as important if not even more so. Signing with a bad team that will let him put up minutes and numbers could greatly improve his next contract.
I’m guessing:
Why wouldn’t he get playing time on the Lakers? If he signs, he is very likely their starting power forward
He should be a good fit, but its harder to predict with teams contending for the playoffs.
One thing for certain, the chances of him putting up big numbers will be lower.
Because he’s a bum? Athletic freak with a low BBIQ, can’t shoot, pass or dribble, otherwise pretty good!
Memphis has no roster spots, Chicago he’s likely not getting playing time he likes. Brooklyn maybe? Bucks don’t have roster spots. Kings he’s likely getting some playing time but won’t start. Lakers he doesn’t fit the team need but he might start and would get significant playing time.
It speaks volumes that Steve Kerr couldn’t coexist with the guy. Not worth the trouble.
Guangdong or Tel Aviv
Yep that’s possible. And likely IMHO.
If I had to guess, he wants to go to a team where he can showcase his “skills”. He probably goes to the Kings if they trade Hunter. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Hornets look into him as well. For some reason I have a feeling he doesn’t want to be a Laker because he knows his role will be that of a role player
Could be the raptors since they love overpaying mid players that are wings 🤣
China hopefully
some other league
According to all the teams he can go to hell because nobody will touch him at the price he wants.
Costco unless he fires his agent
He can just sign with the lakers or Timberwolves and walk into a starting role then get paid next year
His agent sucks.
Fuck it, come to Boston on a minimum for a year and revisit next off season. Play a meaningful role off the bench for a team that you could help, be a good teammate, build your value and cash in.
Kings or Nets I guess
There are no teams with cap space left I don’t think.
Hopefully China so that we can stop having his name come up on this sub
tbh he could probably turn his career around if he took a two year small contract with okc with how good their player development is there (unbiased opinion ignore flair)
Kuminga and Duren are going to team up to battle Kanter and White for supremacy in the WNBA.
China
Find a way to get him on the Mavs. They deserve each other.
Wolves will be the best fit. Open roster spot, Melo will make him look good.
Kuminga has never established what his role is on a team
Whatever the reasons, he hasn’t done that, and you can’t command the money he wants if teams aren’t sure how you would fit in
Dude is on a speedrun out of the league. He might be gone before Lebron
Kuminga is just a guy, but he wants to be paid like a top starter
Thunder probably
Who cares
He swung one game for the Hawks against the Knicks. That’s worth something.
Go to Europe or China and make some money
He’s not good.
He will go to a Chinese learning school because he is going to need it where he is going
Lakers will give 7 first rounders to get him.
Dallas
shanghai?
WHO CARES THERE’S A LOT OF BETTER GUYS OUT THERE
He’s getting Ben Simmons’d , he gone
tel aviv
T. Wolves… unless Pelinka cooks.
Problem with JoKu is that he’s going off his “potential”. Another problem is outside of athleticism dude has no counter moves and has a low defensive IQ.
Lakers put 10 a year in front of him. He farted on the phone an now likely getting the taxpayer from Minnesota. His agent is actually a terrorist
His agent was Dennis Schroeder’s and Terry Rozier’s agent btw
I genuinely do not care
Why do people care so much about a player that doesnt fit in this league?
Yes
CBA
Lakers or Nugs on a team friendly deal
[deleted]
If he’s a nobody and we’re all talking about him, what does that make you?
He better practice his Mandarin now😂😂😂
Car dealership
Anywhere but LA please.
