[Highlight] Kyle Lowry is ejected for the unforgivable sin of passing the ball to the ref after a play stoppage
hold up I just realized, Lowry #7 on miami. Giannis really tryna erase his whole legacy
Couldn’t beat him in 2019 so this is his revenge
Giannis is gonna need to come to Houston wearing number 7 next.
Ref probably shit his pants. You make a ref shit his/her pants? That’s a technical foul
passing the ball to the ref” sounds like something you dont do during a stoppage lol
Tbf it didn’t look like the ref was calling for the ball when Lowry swung it at him. You can see the ref fumbling when it hits him. Not saying that it deserves an ejection, but can see how it would piss a referee off and seeing how it’s Lowry’s 2nd tech there already may have been a back and forth going between them. There are way more egregiously bad tech calls than this.
I wouldnt really call it “swung it at him” - to me it looks like an underhand toss.
Menacing act. It’s like when players kept getting T’ed up for finger guns
Look, you can’t just be tossing the ball to the officials like that
You have to throw it lightly, like this
Well, ok, not like that either. You need to bounce pass it so they know it’s not a threat, like this
…fuck
Throwing the ball to a ref is explicitly against the rules. Rule 12, Section V(p):
The deliberate act of throwing the ball or any object at an official by a player, coach, trainer, or other team bench person is a technical foul and violators are subject to ejection from the game.
Throwing the ball to the ref is not explicitly against the rules.
What you cited says “at.”
There is a big fucking difference.
He tossed him the ball, he did throw it at him. How absurd.
Must square your shoulders, make eye contact, then execute a two handed bounce pass to ref which is firm but not too firm.
referee Matt Kallio interpreted an underhand ball pass as a “forceful” and disrespectful act.
Soft as Charmin if you’re a ref in the middle of a basketball game and you’re shaken up by being passed the ball. Sure, Kallio wasn’t expecting it, but it’s not like Lowrie gunned it or anything.
He definitely passed it with an attitude come on now
He’s gotten ejected for very little before
The moment you become a true NBA fan is the moment you realize refs have zero consequences for 99.9% of bad calls
“Reffing is such a hard job, you guys.”
Gambling sure has been great for the NBA
holy fuck the mods really ruined old.reddit wtf is this redesign and why is it so goddamn busy?
Gotta just use Apollo on your phone to get that old Reddit feel
and no investigation required for that ref, natural technical… like you can’t tell me that dude has some nasty parley on some betting sites.
It is explicitly against the rules and subject to ejection
