I’m a lifelong Warriors fan, so Russ was annoying to me.
It’s been listening to him in interviews as he’s gotten older that really turned me around on him. Harden and KD are fundamentally lame personalities. It turns out Russ is the one I’m rooting for because he seems like such a great guy.
For real. I’ve rooted against Russ multiple times, but he comes off as one of the most “real” superstars we’ve had in ages. Like, I want him teaching my kid’s basketball team, not because he was an NBA player, but because he would keep things so fun while also giving kids life lessons.
So humble. Russ could still cook any of those kids.

He’s pretty hardcore, but butchering children takes some nerve. The cooking part he could likely handle.
I will always love Brodie, no matter what he did or how many times he bricked an important shot or lost Nuggs the game. He played with such fire, passion, and love for the game every time he was on the court. An absolutely guaranteed Hall of Famer. My goat.
The older I get, the more I appreciate players like Russ. I get it’s just entertainment, but I’m grateful that I got to watch him play on TV so many times.
They can never make me hate Russ. Maybe it’s the fact that he didn’t have to suit up for my team but I always loved Westbrook’s game.
