In the top 25 single game rebounds and RPG in both the regular season and playoffs, Wilt and Bill Russell hold 88⁄100 of those spots.
Title is confusing as hell but I didn’t know how else to word it.
The 4 criteria I set for it was single game rebounds in the regular season and playoff, and highest rpg seasons in the regular season and playoffs. (Playoffs are a little skewed cause in some of them Wilt only played 3-5 games, but ig it still counts?)
Wilt and Russell hold 23⁄25 of the top games.
Nate Thurmond (42 rebounds) and Jerry Lucas (40 rebounds) are the only other 2 that make the top 25.
Wilt and Russell hold 22⁄25 of the top games.
Bill Bridges (36 rebounds), Willis Reed (36 rebounds) and Wes Unseld (34 rebounds) are the 3 other players who made it into the top 25.
Wilt and Russell hold 20⁄25 of the top seasons.
Nate Thurmond (21.3 RPG), Jerry Lucas 2x (21.1 RPG and 20 RPG), Bob Petit (20.3 RPG), and Elgin Baylor (19.8 RPG) are the 4 other players who make the top 25.
Wilt and Russell hold 23⁄25 of the top post seasons.
Wes Unseld (23.6 RPG in a single post season), and Nate Thurmond (23.1 RPG in a single post season) are the only 2 other players who make the top 25.
This is the category that’s a bit iffy since Wilt played 3-5 games in some of these, so the sample size isn’t huge.
Nate Thurmond nearly made the top 25 of each of these lists, the only one he missed was a top 25 single rebound game in the playoffs.
It should be noted that Wilt and Russell both played a combined 26 eligible seasons (Wilt was injured in 1 of the years of his 14 year career).
Wilt was also first in each of these categories (if you wanna say he wasn’t in the playoff RPG I’m completely fine with that since Russell nearly got there on double the games).
The era was definitely a hell of a lot more fast paced, but I figured it was still extremely interesting nonetheless.
