RETROACTIVELY APPLYING THE 65-GAME RULE
Hello, my fellow NBA enthusiats. I was with some free time and decided to see how different the NBA awards would be with the 65-game rule applied in the past years. I started with 1980-81 because it was the first season where the Media voted for the awards.
I followed the data in Basketball Reference. All changes happened according to the players’ respective positions and their voting scores.
In advance I apologize for any error with the data or the spelling, this took about two hours to complete so I might have missed some things.
1980-81
Dan Roundfield would miss the All-Defensive 2nd Team with 63 games played.
Basketball Reference does not list the names or possible votes of players who were outside both All-Defensive Teams, so it is not possible to say which player would take his place.
