Jokic locks up DeAaron Fox and tips the rebound to Murray
Is this from that last game of the season between the nuggets and spurs? That was great, shame they didn’t meet in the playoffs
No it was the 3rd game between the Spurs and Nuggets. Wemby didn’t play in the final game.
Yeah that game was insane - such a fun matchup to watch
bro that turning fadeaway shot jokic hit over wemby was peak

For those interested
He got beat, help defender came, fox hit champ and he had an open look. I’d hardly call that locked up
This all we have
lol
It looked like great team defense. There’s no way someone could say they’re all bad defenders.
Nah he didn’t get beat at all in this clip, at least not enough to need a help defender
You did see the help defender come at the end of the clip right?
You’re right but lets use our heads here, the Nuggets defensive scheme is most likely designed to send a help defender if Jokic is on a island, especially against a guard like Fox. Jokic staying infront of his man here like he did in this clip is pretty good, cant get much better than that from him.
You’re right, but I was responding to the title of the post that said jokic locked him up which was very generous
All the Timberwolves flairs are fun to see
They’ve eliminated the nuggets however many times in recent years but they still can’t shake the lil bro energy lol
It’s that shiny championship they miss
Dude has been robbed of a half-dozen DPOYs
I’m sorry, but Jokic is moving like a literal chicken lol.
Is the lock up in the room with us? He got shifted like 6 times lol
Its about as good as you could ask from your center guarding a downhill attacking quick guard 1 on 1. Like any coach is happy with a contested 3 from the top of the court (unless its like Curry or something) when the action started with your pg going at a C from the perimeter
Shifted him so hard he still had to give the ball up
Give up these balls lol
But I’ve grown so attached to them
And what did Fox get out of shifting him 6 times?
These nuts. Asking dumb questions.
“Hat did he get outta cooking his defender?!” - Doofus
Exactly, he got nothing. Never even had a shoulder past him
Fox didn’t even touch the paint nor get an open shot.
What even did Fox achieve?
The camera angle conveniently obscures Murray to Jokic’s right for the majority of the clip.
Looks like he had plenty of help there.
Not really
Can we at least wait till we meet the Wolves in the playoffs again before we get into the Jokic narrative posting wars?
He didn’t
He didn’t even tip the ball to Murray lol crazy title everything was wrong
This was the hardest it’d seen him play defense. He just lets guys go by him and this game he stayed in front of almost everyone while contesting each shot
We can’t all be Jaden McDaniels
Just because someone doesn’t score does not mean they were “locked up”. Jokic played terrible defence here.
This also applies to Kevin Love’s defence on Steph Curry in game 7 of the 2016 Finals.
This was such a fun game.
DPOY defense.
For being locked up, Fox had a lot of freedom to move around and pass.
Obviously I’m trolling…
Wish we saw them matchup in the playoffs. Woulda been an exciting series
Looks like Wemby tipped the ball to Murray. Jokic did have the solid box out though.
Man as a Spurs fan, this is a good reminder that the signs of the team’s overall choke jobs were there all season.
I’ve never forgotten. The chokes and lead losses were a continual issue, and I griped about them the whole season. I remember this one in particular because I was screaming for Mitch to put in Harper. I just threw up my hands when he stuck with Fox and told the friend I was watching with “That’s it, we’re screwed.” And we were. Anyone who was truly surprised by what happened in the Finals wasn’t watching the Spurs all season. I kept waiting and waiting for Mitch to do something about those issues or at least recognize that Fox wasn’t always the answer, but here we are.
