First NBA trip, star rest and itinerary
Hey everyone! I’ve been an NBA fan since 2009, and I finally have the chance to go to the US and watch some games live.
I’m a huge LeBron fan, and my biggest goal is to see him play live before he retires. Obviously, there’s a chance he doesn’t come back for the 2026-27 season depending on how this season goes, so I’m trying to make the trip while I still have the opportunity.
I also want to use the trip to see some US cities, and the teams I’d most like to watch are:
My current plan is:
The Sixers are my priority, mainly because of LeBron. The problem is that there’s obviously a chance he could rest against the Warriors.
If he were scheduled to play against Washington on April 2, I’d probably swap the Celtics game for that one and add Knicks vs. Pistons on April 9.
I’m also considering adding:
depending on how much the whole trip ends up costing.
My biggest question: star rest
Since this would be my first NBA trip, I really want to see the stars actually play.
Most of these games would be in the final 1–2 weeks of the regular season. How worried should I be about players resting during this period?
Would you guys recommend trying to move the trip to February, before the All-Star break, to reduce the risk? Even though the schedule doesn’t line up nearly as well for the teams/cities I want to see during that period.
I know there’s no way to guarantee anything, especially with older stars like LeBron, but I’d love to hear from people who have actually done NBA trips before. How much of a gamble am I taking with these dates?
Tickets
What’s generally the best way to buy NBA tickets?
I’m thinking Ticketmaster or StubHub, but I’d appreciate any recommendations or tips for avoiding overpaying/scams.
And of course, I don’t want the trip to be only about basketball. I’d love to spend a couple of days in Houston, San Antonio and Philadelphia, a few days in Boston, and around a week in New York.
I would honestly love to do this in December instead so I could potentially catch some NFL games as well, but I don’t have the time or money to make that trip this year. And because LeBron is my favorite player, I’m worried that waiting another year could mean missing my chance to see him live.
What would you guys do? Would you stick with March/April, move it to February or approach the trip completely differently?
Any advice would be hugely appreciated!
