I don’t see them as a top 4 western conference team, so idk if I personally would let him go. However, there’s probably going to be roster turnover if they first round exit or worse again (KD, etc.), so a lot will depend on who is on the team at that point.

One more question how bad is his offense approach.

Last year they still made the playoffs despite FVV being hurt the whole year. If they are relatively healthy and do the same or worse than last year (i.e. don’t get out of first round playoffs), I could see him being fired.

I’m not convinced the Rockets are underperforming their combined skills and physical talent.

Their gap is finding a way to develop their players into more well-rounded players who can contribute on both offense and defense. But apparently almost no NBA franchises know how to do this.

I think it’s more likely Ime loses his job after he does a Woody Hayes on Reed Sheppard than Ime being fired. But both are possible.

I think if Durant wanted Ime gone, he’d have been fired already.

Adams and FVV being healthy makes Houston much better. If Amen can make any open shots, this is a very dangerous team.

I would say Ime has one of the hottest seats headed into the season. Doug Christie’s the only one I would put ahead of him, for sure but Sacramento hardly counts as an NBA team.

If the Rockets get off to a really bad start or they don’t make it out of the first round again this season, I’d assume Ime’s gone. He’ll get a third opportunity somewhere else, sure, but I think his days in Houston are numbered unless he is somehow able to get the team to 60+ wins and/or a Conference Finals appearance.

They won fifty games without FVV and lost in the playoffs with an injured KD. Yes, Lakers were also injured, but they basically went all in to get KD and he mostly wasn’t available in the playoffs. They scraped together a 5 seed without a real pg the entire season.

If their young players improve slightly and FVV gets back to 100% for most of the season, they should be better, but would would a 54 win ⁴⁄₅ seed that goes out in the second round or after a competitive first round be fireable ? I dont think so.

Bill Simmons was joking that Udoka might be fired in the middle of his playoff series last year. He made those jokes because Ime’s players seem to openly hate playing for him. I believe in the guy as a coach, I think he’s better than Joe Mazzula even, but it has not worked out well for him in Houston

I’m not as low as him as other rockets fans. Would rather get rid of KD before firing Ime. I still remember Knicks fans wanting Brown fired just this year. A bunch of roster money being on the bench all season just to make the playoffs and have KD sit out too.

He should be on the hot seat at the very least. And should’ve been fired immediately after they lost to the Lakers. The offense wasn’t going to be top tier without Fred, but it’s truly shocking how bad it is without him especially with Kevin fucking Durant on the team.

I never understood why everyone loved udoka so much. He lost me when he had the celtics run drop coverage on steph curry over and over again in the finals.

First year there they improved immediately to a 2 seed. Ya they lost but that was their first year as a super young playoff team and they lost to a veteran warriors squad

Second year, they play the entire season without a point guard since FVV tore his ACL. And then KD comes in and ruins the vibes on the team.

Barring any new injuries or KD shenanigans, i think they should be a top 4 seed this year
