Do you think MIP should be given to a player who went from bad to okay, or from okay to great.
Idk how else to word the title, since bench players aren’t inherently bad, but I’ll give an example.
In 2019 Siakam won MIP and went from 7/4/2 to 17/7/3. A pretty big leap that made him go from a bench player to a starter.
Now for the okay to good example, in 2022 Ja went from 19/4/7 to 27/6/7. Another pretty big leap that won him an all nba second team. Going from a starter quality player to an all star.
Ik that MIP is a bit of a weird award and not always given to the player it’s deserved by, but in general do you think it’s more impressive for a player to go from a bench player to a starter? Or a starter to make a leap to an all star. What are your thoughts?
