It would be crazy if Wyc had just introduced JB and Tatum to some sponsor they knew so they could’ve kept the Jays at 30% of the salary cap in total.

Now, imagine if you really loved the Celtics, had billions and multiple profitable businesses but just didn’t want to own or couldn’t buy the team.

You could instead be a “sponsor” and paid the Celtics stars with no limits to keep them around forever. Then maybe offered Victor Wembayama a $100 million “no show” deal.

Of course, it would then become an arms race of which teams had the craziest rich fans. It’s absurd.

My idea for this is that you fan fund a shell company that does an endorsement deal with players.- kind of like alumni used to slip money to college players.
