[graphsketball] LeBron is at most 8 degrees away from every player in history… there are only 8 players who are a maximum of 8 degrees away from LeBron; all of them played in the League’s first season (1946-1947) and then never again.
Bronny James is 9 degrees away from every player in NBA history
LeArntSomethingNew
its outrageous how much mileage this joke gets lol. lebron might be the goat just for this

Doesn’t this mean every player is 9 degrees away from every player in NBA history
LeBron is barely even improving on it
Edit: this comment was a trick comment to attract upvotes from people who skipped pre-algebra…gotcha
There’s likely many players who played in the 90s and 2000s that are also 8 degrees away from everyone
I would bet that guys like Robert Parish or Kevin Willis are only 5-6 degrees away from everyone.
Wish I knew how to check that though.
The players who should have the lowest degrees of distance would be the ones who played in the middle of the league’s history, because their teammates will roughly be equidistant from the past and present. If you draw a line from the beginning of the league to today, then the middle is going to have the smallest average distance to any other random point on the line.
Like as an example if someone played in 1990, then they could have one teammate who played 15 years earlier in 1975 and another who is a rookie and will go on to play until 2005. That’s 30 years in a single degree.
But if a player is a rookie today with a 15 year veteran teammate, then they’re only covering half that time frame because any future teammates they have won’t be accounted for yet.
Yeah I’d love to see the most central node(s) on this graph, it’d have to be someone who played in the 90s-20s for a lot of teams for a long time.
So Shaq?
Well, all of LeBron’s teammates are 9 degrees away from every player. There’s still a big chunk of players who were never LeBron’s teammates. I wonder which non-LeBron teammate has the lowest number of degrees. Probably like Shaq or something lol
Shaq was LeBron’s teammate
Oh yeah lol shoutout the 2010 Cavs
But if LeBron is 8 degrees from every player in history, every player in history is 8 degrees from LeBron
Which means every player in history is 9 degrees from every player in history, via LeBron
There’s probably some other players with 8 degree separations from every player in history, but not 7 degree nor 10 degree from every player in history.
Edit: oh yeah I was super wrong on this
No, every Lebron teammate is 9 degrees from every player in history (through Lebron).
If a player never played with Lebron, then they’d need to reach Lebron first (N degrees) to be able to then use him to reach another player.
If A knows B who knows C who knows D who know E. Then C is 2 away from everyone, but A and E are 4 apart, not 3
Nerd
I’m 3,746 degrees away from every human that’s ever lived on earth
statistically you aren’t lol everyone is 6 degrees away at most
You’re maybe thinking about alive people.
Yeah but he said stastically
Not true, since the statement includes people from Ancient Greece as well.
Lol thought it’d be obvious but this only tracks with living people
Makes no sense considering you tried correcting a comment that says “that’s ever lived”
North sentinel islands
I don’t believe that
you guys don’t understand how statistics work
>Mathematically it means that a person shaking hands with 30 people, and then those 30 shaking hands with 30 other people, would after repeating this six times allow every person in a population as large as the United States to have shaken hands (seven times for the whole world).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_degrees_of_separation
You don’t understand how words work considering you were replying to a comment saying “everyone whos ever lived”
No one is saying youre wrong if youre just talking about currently living people. But you felt the need to “correct” someone’s comment with unrelated information, so here we are
I’m fucking dying I never thought I’d see the risk of rain soundtrack dubbed over bron

how many stacks of energy drink do you think prime derrick rose had
He prob should’ve held off on the shaped glass
So glad I saw this so I knew to turn on audio 😂 hilarious
I wonder what Kevin Willis is at. Dude played in 84 and 07.
He played against Lebron, so 1 degree, or is it 0 or no separation?
Is 0 degrees mean you are Lebron, or does it mean there are no other players between you and Lebron?
Just dont try to divide by zero lebrons
Zero means you are LeBron. I
Has LeBron ever played with himself tho?
In the bubble it was his only option.
How many degrees from Danuel House
It’s not who’s played against LeBron, it’s who he’s been teammates with. If it were played against, LeBron is probably only 3 or 4 degrees of separation from the whole NBA.
Sounds like it’s 8 players not including LeBron based on that very last part in the video
He played against LeBron, so he is somewhere between 7 and 9. Lower limit is 7 because LeBron is 8. If Kevin Willis is 6, then LeBron would be 7 through his connection to Kevin. By the same token, his upper limit would be 9 because at minimum, he could reach everyone through LeBron.
And did all that with hands sized similar to mine. I’m 5”6.
A good facsimile of LeBron’s longevity: if someone played in Wilt’s 100 point game in 1962 AND MJ’s 63 point playoff game in 1986
some of the spans a 24 year career could cover are wild. like… 1983 to 2007. Play against Dr. J and KD. edit… oh shit. I remember Kevin Willis probably did
Almost. Kevin Willis was drafted in 84 and retired after 2006-2007. He would have played against Dr. J and Chris Paul.
I did btw
How many degrees away is he from Jesus?
MJ is 33rd degree mason away so either 32 or 34 degrees away depending on your opinion 😆
He’s met the Pope and the Pope is supposed to be Gods representative on Earth according to catholics so you’d think that means he’d know Jesus
I’m 3 degrees from LeBron - used to shoot around and practice in college with a guy who was on Bradley practice squad with Anthony Parker -> Lebron’s teammate
So I am closer to LeBron than many NBA players are to him.
Scalabrine in shambles
8 degrees of Bronny Bacon
LeBacon
NBA’s Jaromir Jagr
I read a crazy stat one day about Jaromir Jagr having a teammate that has been to every Stanley Cup final since 1980 to 2026.
Yeah, it helps that hockey teams obviously have way more players. But it’s absolutely insane the longevity that man has had.
Those gambling debts don’t pay themselves.
Also 18 year old models lmao
You can probably do this with a lot of players.
LeBron is somehow even more ubiquitous than he gets credit for. He’s been simultaneously the most loved and most hated athlete in America since summer 2010, and he’s been one of the most loved, if not the most loved, since he was in high school
Isn’t everyone on earth like 6 degrees of contact away from each other?
Interesting
But 98 degrees is because of you
That’s wild, I didn’t realize the six-degrees-of-separation concept could be traced back so far in sports history.
LeBiblically Accurate
What kind of data visualization is this?
“I’m 8 degrees closer to LeBron than you are to me” - George Grimshaw
I saw this post on ig last night actually and it made me wonder how many degrees I was from LeBron lol. It’s 3 which was closer than I expected. (The star player on my best friend from college’s HS basketball team is G league level and friends with Dwight Howard)
I saw this post on ig last night actually and it made me wonder how many degrees I was from LeBron lol. My best friend from college has a guy on his HS basketball that is currently like around G League level (won a chip with the OKC affiliate and has had multiple tryouts) and that guy works out with Dwight Howard and Dwight comments on his ig posts lol. So boom! I’m friends with a
Now do this for every single player and find the shortest degrees aka anyone closer than 8 (kevin willis?)
Was this supposed to be an attempt at a good visualisation of LeBron’s longevity?
Do that for kevin willis or robert parish.
This is so stupid
Wait I thought everyone was 6 degrees away from everyone else, how is LeBron 8?
