D’Antoni should have gotten to the Finals in 2007, and there’s a pretty damn good chance he would have gotten the ring that year too. Ran an offense way ahead of it’s time. Fuck Robert Horry for what he did. Glad D’Antoni is in the HOF now, and hopefully he is at peace with the amazing career he’s had.
No one has been a pariah and savior of so many different franchises than Horry.
If it wasn’t for Don Nelson, I’d say D’Antoni is the best and most transformative coach to not win a ring.

Did he really? I know he had some really dirty ones like Bowen and Horry who were consistently dirty, and I think Ginobili used to flop a lot, but I cant really remember anything else that used to annoy me about those championship Spurs teams aside from just how damn good they were. Granted, I dont have good memory and I’m trying to recall basketball from 15-20 years ago, so I’m sure I’m forgetting a lot of other stuff.

While Nash was the coach D’antoni was his top assistant in 2021 and had that Nets offense running at historic levels. Its no coincidence they significantly fell off when he didnt return the next season.
In between his solid game analysis, MSG return, and this, happy to see J-Lin popping up again here and there over the last couple months.
Wish he got a ring as a HC man. Probably one of the best coaches to not win a ring alongside Rich Adelman and Don Nelson (RIP to both).
