Poor shooting slasher who can’t get to the rim.
I just don’t see how that ever becomes a great player. He’s a solid passer and defender, but his entire scoring game right now is being a mediocre off ball 3 point shooter.
Despite his reported athleticism, he can’t seem to actually use any of it. It’s all strength and vertical, not speed and agility….which is what matters. Even in the G league he couldn’t reliably get to the rim. And once he’s there, he does even finish particularly well. He’s far more Dennis Smith Jr. than he is Russ
He’s fast end to end. He just doesn’t know how to change his pace or get guys on his back.
Agreed I’m just hoping he can be a worse Jrue Holiday at this point and give us great defense, good passing, and serviceable scoring.

He looks weird at the NBA level. Like he was deceptively smooth before he gets drafted but his body posture and the way he dribbles shoots etc. feels out of rhythm in the NBA for some reason.
And also his attitude isn’t the best. Yes he had a good game in the playoffs but he started chirping at the opposition everytime he makes a basket and heat up the Spurs so they got him back. Gotta have at least 1 good entire season before he starts chirping. Then all the other interviews pre-draft calling himself handsome or the best nickname on the planet etc. feels like his focus isn’t in the right place.
Then he flexed on Dylan Harper and it was all downhill after that. Him and Castle were jawing and going at each other a bit too, guessing they played each other a good amount growing up, both being from Georgia.
Still encouraging to see him catch fire from 3 a couple times that series tho.
Yep, cooled off real quick once Harper started heating up. Iirc he didn’t even score in game 4 once Wemby was back too.
I’m rooting for Scoot in general, but I won’t lie and act like I wasn’t a little satisfied seeing him get humbled a bit. I do genuinely wonder how he can build off this late season production next year with all the guards on their roster now.

Everything went to shit once he started barking at Dylan Harper. Harper proceeded to humble him for the rest of that game and the series haha
Seems a solid defender is far likely to figure him out than he is to figure them out. When he was drafted, I thought there was a lot of DRose in Scoot, but there was no figuring out a young DRose.

I still can’t believe he hasn’t really panned out. I thought he and Josh Jackson were locks to be stars.
