Not really just because they’re essentially all the same, with the exception of a few historic ones. The big draw for trying to see every MLB stadium is how unique each one is. Once you’ve been inside one NBA stadium you’ve pretty much been in them all.

Also, and this is just my own pet peeve, it’s not MLB baseball. The B in MLB already stands for baseball.

MLB stadiums are the best experience. The stadiums are designed around fan experience and walking around and making memories separate from the game.

NBA/NHL is a level down. All indoors. More crammed in. Some of the new places like Intuit are really cool and places like Boston and MSG have a sense of history.

NFL stadiums are the worst in terms of visiting. Pretty much just cramming in 65-75k people for a sport that is designed for TV. Also, all of the leagues games are mostly on the same day and usually a full day experience.

MLB ticket prices are way cheaper and some stadiums are 100+ years old so make sense to do that. Also there’s a lot of variety in shapes and sizes of baseball stadiums.

All the NBA arenas are fairly modern, uniform and costly to get into so there’s not much point in visiting each separately.

Maybe there is one or two sorta legendary venues but it seems like MSG is the only one that is really legendary.

I don’t think it says common for indoor arenas. Even the nfl, most stadiums are so similar it’s kind of just a checklist thing. 

Baseball stadiums are unique in shape and design, and many of them have been around for decades longer than most NFL stadiums.

I’m currently in the process of doing this with my teenage son. Started two years ago and we’re currently at 9 stadiums. It’s been a lot of fun to talk about and plan. Definitely some great bonding with my boy.

Anytime I visit a city with an NBA team I try to go to a game, because it’s my favorite sport to watch.

Usually I see this with a recently retired guy following his favorite team on a road trip, he’ll do that over the course a few years and end up seeing all 30 arenas. 

Been an NBA fan since the 2000’s and have never met someone who did the MLB style “every team over the course of the summer” trip.

Not really. That is because baseball was a sport that was to be experienced. That’s why they have a lot of games, and due to that fact that this pastime existed before television and radio. Football was largely experienced too and hence why it was so popular on sundays, shoot the us gov granted them a monopoly. Whereas basketball took off during television, and that attachment to the stadium and seeing in person is not there.

I want to do that! Not because the stadiums are anything special, but more I love traveling and I think seeing every team in their home arena would be really cool. Also seeing tons of players you wouldn’t think of seeing in your hometown.

Walk around both levels and checkout all their displays of basketball memorabilia. There’s lots to see and appreciate in their building. Or come see the Fever play. Kick it up another level there’s lots of great high school games in Indiana to see how packed and large their high school gyms are is absolutely nuts and a must.

My bucket list now though is to go watch basketball in Serbia. That looks insane and a must do.

NBA arenas, by and large, don’t have the same character as MLB ballparks.

Different story in terms of unique arenas thirty-something years ago when more of the classic buildings (Great Western Forum, Chicago Stadium, Boston Garden, pre-renovation MSG, Oakland Arena) were still online.

I’ve seen the Bucks play in 12 different arenas (10 current, plus the old Bradley Center and the one-off game they played in the Panther Arena in 2017). If you’ve seen two or three of them, you’ve seen them all, but the experience of traveling and seeing new cities makes it worth it

Baseball in the U.S. can be summer and outdoors … if you like baseball and sitting in a heatwave directly in the Sun ,some ball parks are horrible the seats seating angles are tilted like the Angels in Anaheim … some teams the local fans make the experience .. some city fan base are dangerous and it’s best to not talk friendly trash

The great thing about things is that anything can be a thing.

I’m slowly getting to it, but I don’t think its a thing because baseball stadiums are more unique (and honestly more aesthetically pleasing) than the standardized NBA stadiums. The statues of important figures are always fun to see though.

i’ve never heard of this, but as someone who likes bball a whole lot more than baseball it seems like a better tour. with that being said, even i still see the charm in doing it for baseball only. like you say the history of all of the unique stadiums. and being outside in nice weather is a vibe. nba games are fun but it feels a little more grindy to experience. i can’t explain it

No because every basketball court is the exact same, there also isn’t really an identity for teams & their stadiums. Exceptions are TD Garden & Oracle Arena which have since moved. Baseball stadiums are also specifically designed for baseball

NBA and NFL venues are much less distinctive. College football is the closest

I’m not a super baseball fan but I have like 15 stadiums under my belt for mlb.

I business trip to different cities and in the evening when you are alone with nothing to do its possible to get like a cheap bleacher creature walk up ticket and just hang out outside on a nice day even if the game is lame. But I’ve seen some insane games go down.

Its way more expensive for the nba and not nearly as relaxing.

I feel like every ballpark and football field has a unique setting and vibe. But every arena feels the same just with a different crowd. To each there own though.

Baseball stadiums are definitely more unique but I do enjoy going to see different arenas as well. If nothing else it’s a good reason to go visit a city and explore it.

When I’ve started watching MLB around 2023 one of the first recommended videos was about every MLB stadium and a ranking of them on plenty of aspects. I never had an NBA video like that and I’ve been watching it since I was a little kid. Madison Square Garden and United Center might be the only basketball stadiums that I’ve seen genuine praise like “Oh they are iconic, if you are here give it a visit”.

Not that much a thing but it would be fun to do though. The main one people mention is visiting MSG.

Every baseball stadium layout is different where every basketball court at least dimension-wise is the same. Also a lot of baseball stadiums are outdoors and integrated into the the cityscape so you get more of a feel for that city’s vibe. NBA arenas obviously all indoors.

MLB stadiums have much more variety and are much more the star of the show. NBA and nhl arenas are mostly all the same modern arena with slightly different layouts. I personally would love to see a game at MSG, Clippers new arena, or Indiana because they apparently have the best seating layout for the court. Other than that is there any difference to the rest?

People should give MLS stadiums a try too. My family and I usually get a tour of the local MLS and MLB stadium when we travel. I’m not really interested in seeing other teams play unless it’s against my team, so a tour is good enough. Plus the tour guides be the most passionate fans of the team.

like you said, MLB ballparks go out of their way to create unique identities, they feel like actual parks with attractions and not just a place you go to watch a ball game and dip. You have places like Fenway and Wrigley, which basically double as baseball history museums. Or Citi Field, where people go just to try all the crazy food. They all have factors that set them apart from each other

I feel like most NBA/NHL arenas exist just to fulfill the need for an indoor arena that can easily accommodate both sports and concerts under the same roof. Sure, you could see every arena, but personally don’t think it’d be nearly as fun. the new Clippers arena might change the current arena trend, though.

Nope. My wife and I are wanting to visit every ballpark. We’re at 15 now. Even though I’m a basketball fan, I have zero interest in visiting every arena. I’ve been to 13 NBA stadiums and most are very similar. Baseball stadiums are more unique.
