To me, it sounds more like he doesn’t fully understand the concept he’s discussing. Panopticism is about the psychological effect of perceived surveillance and how it can be leveraged to exert control over populations. Fake accounts and fake clips are not that.

I think a fake viral video he might be referring to could be a video clipped out of context (with a made up caption) to maybe create a certain narrative or reaction.

We see it happen all the time but I don’t know if people realize they are being manipulated to feel or think a certain way. Adding bots in the comments makes it seem more legitimate too so more people are likely to just go with the crowd.

This small clip seems fine but in general Jaylen Brown types are all the negative aspects of a dilettante. He’s like intentionally putting himself in the dunning-kruger area for a lot of things because he wants a lot of people to respect him superficially instead of a small amount of people respecting him sincerely in a niche
