Westbrook recommends Zubac he box out. He does not listen.
Zubac: “I don’t care, man”
Westbrook: “THAT’S THE PROBLEM”
Zubac we are live
I know this reference! Everyone, everyone, I get what he’s doing here!
Nice
I understood that reference
This is one of my favorite stories lmao
Damian Lillard quietly agrees
If it was OKC Westbrook that would’ve been a MONSTER put back dunk
In your 30s the knees aren’t what they once were .
NBA 30’s are different from normal person 30’s though, insanely more wear and tear
Ya and even my normal, pampered-ass non NBA knees aren’t what they used to be
What do you do to take care of them?
And the level of money or pampering has nothing to do it with it. The wear and tear from playing nba schedules at an nba pace, alongside all the practices and conditioning to get into and maintain game condition is insane
Russ was 28⁄29 when he had that mvp year, basically was 30 lol
You definitely haven’t hit 30. It ain’t the same, after 30 I started getting all these random ass injuries doing mundane ass shit.
In my twenties I could play a pickup game roll my ankle and just tighten the laces and mostly be OK. A year ago I strained a calf walking down stairs. Just a normal walk. I am now mid 30s
What are you doing to your ass that results in random injuries?! Might not be so mundane if you keep blowing out your o ring.
Well the list is long but distinguished
Yeah but what are you doing to maintain them? I do yoga and there’s people in their 50’s and up in my classes with bulletproof knees
Yeah, tell that to the other guy who thinks it’s normal to have cooked knees in your 30’s
I’m not as good as I once was but I’m good once as I ever was
The once has to be saved up for important occasions. Can’t waste it.
Bro I fucking love Westbrook, all he did was talk shit about how he was going to outwork you and he backed it up
Some Larry shit
One of a kind. I’m gonna miss Russ. Always felt like he’s been unfairly maligned when the dude just loves basketball and played his ass off every night.
One of the most entertaining players I’ve seen. Love the passion he brought to the court. Excellent mix of intense and funny. Great player, great career.
I’m not a big basketball fan but he was so fun to watch play. Him and Kevin Garnett are my GOATs
That’s my triple double cocaine bear 🥹
Except on defense
He played some strong defense on the Clippers and Denver. He could really lock in and lock people down at times, though obviously offense was his biggest focus.
I remember reading this article talking about boxing out on free throws and basically that guys talk to each other down there to see if they’re really going after it or not. Hilarious to hear Russ tell him what he was going to do and still just did it
It’s probably pretty common for guys on the offensive side to say stuff like “better box out!” and then not give any effort in going for the free throw rebound and have the other guy give effort in boxing out no one. Not that it’s a huge energy expenditure but it’s probably done often enough to just fuck around with each other in a mostly playful way. But yeah, Brodie was never fucking around, all gas, no brakes whether it’s the 1st quarter or a double OT.
League needs more guys like this. Nobody works as hard as he did.
Russ is a prime regular season player. Games passed him by in the playoffs but his “give a fuckness” is a major plus in the regular season
I know people are going to bring up his shooting percentages against OKC (completely disregarding MPJ & Murray having an awful series and Jokic having the worst three game stretch of his career) but Denver not bringing back Westbrook for this past season was such a weird decision. He was certainly a net positive and he & Jokic had great chemistry
I think we did want Westbrook back, but on a more diminished role which he didn’t want.
Who is “we”? As a Nuggets fan, you’re probably more aware of the specifics, but from what I have heard - there was a big split in the organization that year, especially near the end of the season.
I was under the interpretation that Westbrook was one of the “Coach Malone” guys and Adelman & his backers weren’t as big of a fan of him. With a lot of people in the organization seeming to be split on a lot of things, I had thought that Westbrook was just one of those many things & he was gone as the side Adelman was on had won out the war.
DAWG
Russ is 1 of 1. He gave 1000% effort all the time and never backed down. People give him a lot of flack but he will go down as one of the greats.
I’ll really miss him. Amazing player.
That shit too smooth.
I can hear Greg Anthony in my head man
“Coach’s pet peeve there, no boxout.”
gone miss russ
1 of 1
He was so fun in Denver man
Really wish they brought him back. People remember a couple of mistakes, but most of his time with the Nuggets was really solid.
He was good on the Nuggets! He and Jokic had a nice two man game going.
I’ll miss those announcers, they got canned.
Russ might be the greatest litmus test of all time to see if someone actually just genuinely enjoys basketball or not
How can Westbrook be the greatest rebounding guard when all centers give him free rebounds?
We really took this man for granted honestly
This is the hustle that won him all those rings!!!
Dude we get it he sucked for the Lakers
Ring culture bros are among the worst sports fans.
But hey, Russ has as many rings as Luka. So I wouldn’t throw too many stones.
