I’m from SoCal and am a Clippers fan, I wouldn’t recommend it. I was raised by a father who grew up on the Showtime Lakers and liked Shaq but hated Kobe, he always liked the Clippers but went full time once Shaq left the Lakers and I’ve suffered because of it.
I couldn’t see myself being a Lakers fan at this point though because I hate them.

Honestly with the amount of ball dominance in the rest of the lineup, I wouldn’t mind if he picked himself there. Though Kawhi would be great too if he can buy in with being just a defensive specialist.
But a lineup of Hakeem, Wilt (match up against Shaq and Duncan) Bird, MJ, Magic will give this team issues. The only one I can’t figure out is who should defend lebron, because he is very much a match up nightmare in any era. Maybe I need to steal my own Kawhi pick from above instead of Bird, but then I’d sacrifice a lot of shooting. And I have to rely on MJ to play both ends and defend Curry.

Also, I’d consider Magic over Steph, just purely because with a team like this, not sure you need Steph’s insane shooting. While Magic wasn’t anywhere near the scorer Steph is, he’s the better playmaker. He could probably average 30 assists a game with this team.
lebron is already in the playmaker role tho. Him+Magic would be a bit awkward/redundant. Especially with shaq and duncan both living in the paint, driving lanes for lebron would be so clogged so they’d need more spacing which Steph provides.

KG would probably be a better fit on this team since he provides much better floor spacing, better ball handling, playmaking, and more dynamic defense. Shaq and LeBron have more than sufficient rim-scoring and Duncan’s scoring isn’t really synergistic with that. Plus the rim protection with peak Shaq is good enough that help defense and switchability matters more.
