if the guy only misses 90 shots out of 1090 shots, cutting this video isnt as hard as you think. You just record the longest stretch of his makes, then make the appropriate amount of schedule dates for the background prop.

You’re overthinking it, he walks off on the last shot. You recognize he can make 1000⁄1090 but don’t recognize that then by definition making 30 in a row is trivial for him.
No “longest stretch of makes” is needed, this was almost definitely take 1 with no need to restart the count because of a miss.
At a ~92% rate, 29 makes in a row on a single attempt is a 9% chance. Possible, but not trivial.
That said, there’s a pretty obvious edit at :22 where he misses one and they fix it, so either they did one/a few attempts at 29 straight and this was the best take so they edited around it, or they were just recording him for awhile with someone keeping track of consecutive makes and they decided 28⁄29 was good enough and told him when to walk off

My guess is that they told him he needed to make 29 in a row, and then filled in the schedule (and the shot clock) behind him in post. Hence him stepping away after the last one. And I doubt it took very long for him to string 29 in a row together. I suppose it’s possible they had someone pressing a button on each make to transition the slides, but that’s more moving parts than you’d want.
There is no way the schedule was done in realtime. The transitions are perfect with the ball. That part must have been done is post.
