As an aside, what is it about sketch comedians that they’re apparently the best horror directors? Peele, Zach Cregger, now Curry Barker.
I’m sure someone smarter than me can answer better, but my underdeveloped theory is that both comedy and horror play on viewer expectations in similar ways and the only difference is the specific tone being used when doing so. Therefore, experienced comedians will come into horrors with a lot of the necessary skills already.
Horror and comedy are opposite twins. Even Jordan peele said the difference between horror and comedy is the music. Both play on viewers expectations and have to be outlandish to scare or make you laugh. It’s also about setup.
