I think he was a better player than both those dudes but Russ hasn’t been seen before and neither has AI. Wade is a different player that’s all. Nobody has ever been as breakneck, explosive and powerful as Russ. If anything the Iverson comparison is much better because of the amount of punishment those dudes took getting to the rim.

Got to see him in person at a Lakers away game a few years back, he was clearly the fastest and quickest athlete on the floor that night by far. Athleticism even past his prime was absurd watching in person. I mean the whole game is so much faster in person anyway, but he was just on another level.

Russ was the most athletic guard in the league for a decade and arguably longer. He was just faster, stronger and more explosive than everyone else. And he gave 100% every night. Never took a night off because fans pay good money to watch basketball, so he was gonna give them a show, good or bad. Idk why NBA fans don’t fuck with Westbrook. He’s one of my favorite players Ive watched because dude cared, not just about the game, but the fans. Efficiency be damned, it’s a game. And Westbrook was fun to watch.

His prime was so insanely fun to watch and he’s one of my favorite players ever. He was right up there with guys like LeBron, Giannis, prime D Rose, Vince Carter in terms of raw athleticism that is so above and beyond the rest of the league it’s almost cartoonish. Except what puts him above even those guys is he was a superstar who also had the insanely high effort of a G league guy trying to get a 2 way contract. He embodies that “Force of nature” description more than any other athlete I can think of. Any number of guys like him had the physical tools to break the triple double record if they had the consistent effort and endurance, but that’s way easier said than done. He’s just a totally unique player in basketball history and that was awesome to watch. I think all the shit he got from the talking heads during his career will be forgotten over time and he’ll be remembered as a first ballot HOF and one of the greats.
