Obviously not correct. Had confirmed offers from Wizards and Kings and more teams that could legit use him could have made an offer (Heat) and more teams still that could have used his talent but don’t want to admit it. The thing that clinches his NBA eligibility was a return of his 3 pt shot. His 3 pt % came back to the best since his MVP year, he didn’t lose his passing ability or his rebounding or even most of his energy or speed which is crazy to say. He lost a step to be sure but they were still better than average skills.

Not to mention as a person he’s a good teammate, never a snake, and the are locker room only guys that are still taking contracts to play zero games who aren’t half the locker room guy Russ is and don’t have half of his skill. If all he wanted was to chase an NBA contract he would have got one. He just decided he was worth more than a lost season with the Zards or Kings.

Robert Williams did the same while with Boston during their playoff run. Westbrook somehow played this long, at a high level. The guy is such a physically gifted player, with burst that stubbornly refuses to dwindle at the same rate as mere mortals.

He has always been one of my least favorite players to watch, but he does seem to be a good guy off the court, too. I wish him well
