Damian Lillard credits Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf as the main influence on his quick-release pull-up jumper
Dame a real one for that shout
Mahmoud’s career got derailed for his stance on the Anthem, he was never the same after that.
Stand was such a good documentary.
His lsu highlights are crazy
Shaq believed he was the best scorer in college
Austin: I don’t think anyone played like you and Steph shooting off the dribble like that
Dame: I took some from Mahmoud
Austin: Oh he’s like the Steph before Steph right?
š¤
And even then thereās Gilbert Arenas.
Absolutely. I’m just gonna call it hyperbole for what was a new show.. I do like Austin.
This sub hates him but yea if thereās any comp for Dame itās Gil. Gil was bigger stronger and actually faster but those deep pull up 3sā¦he was the only one doing that in that era
Bigger and stronger but def not faster. Dame was lightning. Very few players could turn the corner like him.
Gil is def his best comp, though. Very similar players.
Both are true. He was maybe the closest thing to Steph before Steph, but in his most three point heavy year Mahmoud put up 5.5 threes per 36. Steph put up over 10 threes per 36 in 11 seasons. He put up 13.4 per 36 in one season.
So Dame borrowed from him when it comes to the quick release, but they took it to a completely different level.
I mean the volume is obvious we all know Steph changed the game. There’s an almighty difference in percentages too but he said what he said so I just thought it was funny.
its so cool to see Dame showing love to a legend like Mahmoud Abdul Rauf.Real recognize real
Mahmoud Abdul Rauf receiving his flowers by Dame is so dope.
āBrothers studying my moves like Mahmoud Abdul Raufā - Roc Marciano
Roc Marciano love in r/NBA??
The way he got blackballed by the league for not standing for the National Anthem is a travesty.
The original Colin Caperknick
I find life meaningless now
You good lol?
I kinda get it with the Lakers flare lol
He found out Lakers are being sold again š
Passed around like a box of PokƩmon cards.
Gilbert Arenas
The man formerly known as Chris Jackson, LSU legend, is one of the all time great shots.
Deep pull, fuck ya. Mahmoud Abdul Raif was a problem
I remember when Phil Jackson compared Steph to Chris Jackson, everyone thought it was shade back in 2013-2014ish.
Steph before Steph was Mark Price imo
Mark Price felt Nashier to me, CP3 or Haliburton would be the closest current comps imo
Mark didnāt have the same handles tbh.
Would love to see him in Miami with Spo.
That’s why I named him in my starting 5 when that post about assembling a team to combat MJ and Kobe snd I think Lebron, came up.
Don’t know who the other 2 would be, but for that team you’d run Curry/Kawhi/Pippen/KG/Olajuwon
TIL Mahmoud birth name.
“Steph before Steph” yes, his name was Mark Price. If him and Daugherty stayed healthy they would’ve given the Bulls a run for their money in the early 90s
I’ve never made the connection before but they really do have a similar way of getting balanced (as opposed to someone like Curry who doesn’t, or Klay who sets his feet rather than stepping into it).
Also reminds me of old school guys like Mark Price and Ray Allen
Only OGās know the OG A-R
