When the Suns sold, Iger was being pushed for a long time as a guy who was interested and was going to make an offer. When it actually came around, he did not have the scratch to even make a bid. People had been pointing out that a guy worth a few hundred million has a lot to figure out if he’s going to try to buy a multibillion dollar franchise. Assuming that’s why he linked up with Kushner

Yeah, this is a weird post. There are at least three other bids that have been publicized - the Waltons, the Foley group, and the Colangelo group - and potentially others that haven’t been publicized.

At this point, there’s no reason to assume that one group buying the Lakers means that all other Vegas bids are dead.

Why don’t you think that there is support for expansion? I live in the area and the people I know are supportive to very excited.

Obviously I’m posting on here, so I probably interact with more basketball fans than average, but it’s nothing like the A’s where everyone was ticked off because they kept asking for more and more public handouts, people were very against, but the governor kept stepping in and giving the A’s owners what they wanted.

Edit: To follow up, it sounds like this ownership group thought that the bidding for the LV franchise was rising to the point that buying a marquee existing team like the Lakers made sense as an alternative. That suggests that the NBA is not having trouble getting sufficient interest for potential LV ownership.
