Even if someone magically pulled out $100B for each owner to sell, the players union can stop it. The only reason why this cartel structure is legal in the first place is due to the CBA. If you’ve ever heard of the “nuclear option” during lockouts or CBA negotiations, it’s referring to the fact that the players of all major sports leagues can simply disband their union, reverting themselves back to regular employees of their league, which immediately renders that league an illegally operating monopoly under U.S antitrust law.
