I decided to spin off the idea to include ALL NBA players in history. I used the old All-NBA rules (2 guards, 2 forwards, 1 center) instead of 1-5. There were obvious holes in certain teams if we followed the 1-5 rule, and that wouldn’t be fun or competitive :)

The Js is the obvious answer, but I think it is for a reason. You have 3 Top-6 or so players of all-time, Jokic who’s maybe in the Top 15.

Don’t sleep on the As, though. Kareem is Top 5 player, Giannis and he would make a formidable frontcourt. Allen stretches the floor and doesn’t need the ball. Carmelo weighs them down, though. Is there not a better ‘A’ out there?

As for Manu v PG. PG’s peak was much higher than Manu’s. 3rd in MVP and DPOY in one season. More overall All-Star, All-NBA, and All-Defensive selections. Manu has more team-based accolades.

manu was straight up unguardable and could do everything on offense. paul george rains 3s, nice when he hits, hurts when he’s cold. he’s usually more cold than hot in playoff series. dude is limited, manu was the opposite, he did everything really really really well

sounds like you might not have watched as much of manu’s prime or just value media awards way too much

As I mentioned in the other thread, I think I would put Dennis Johnson over Sam Jones and would put either above Bobby Jones. Comparable resumes but Dennis Johnson, in theory, would be a much better fit as the point of attack defender to hide Magic and help out Jokic.

Rebounding would be a minor issue with that team going against some of the best rebounders of all time and rim protection would be a short coming as well, but I don’t think it would even be close to mattering.

They are guards and Magic never really guarded point guards - think of him as a big more athletic version of Luka in that sense. Through much of the 80s, they played 3 “guard” lineups with Cooper and Scott/Nixon playing alongside Magic.

Adding Rudy to the Gs makes them a threat to take out anybody. KG and Gobert is absurd defense and rebounding. Shai and Manu and Gervin can score with anybody and have great playmaking (as does KG)

Gasol is sneaky too, could go jumbo with KG at the 3 or bring Rudy/Gasol off the bench, draymond as a super sub is nasty work too, alltime defense at all times lol

It was tough for me to determine Gs’ forward-center situation. KG and Gasol have played both PF/C in their careers. Gobert purely a center. While a KG/Gasol/Gobert frontcourt is an intimating wall, it’s not as great on the offensive end. I just think a wing combo of Gervin and Garnett, and Gasol at the 5 is a great two-way frontcourt. I also did consider Draymond, but again, I think Gervin is the better two-way player.

Rudy brings a dominant defense and rebounding and hustle/finishing element that would work perfectly with both of them too

i think manu and shai give you all the offensive creation you need, especially with those alltime front court playmakers and Gervin is there for outlier volume scoring

KG did play plenty of 3 early on in his career and was elite on star perimeter scorers and guards, so you could do some 3 big lineups in certain matchups and just shut shit down and gobble up all the boards

i really think this team is so balanced and has so much high-level pop with their skillsets that they could take any squad, even the Js. Defense and rebounding is always way too underrated in these silly discussions

I really struggled which to put it. Billups and Brunson are essentially 1A and 1B. I ultimately put Billups because he’s a better defender, two-way player.
