I think that’s the whole point of hate. I can clearly see that he is a generational offensive talent with excellent mid-range, but his playstyle relies on flopping so much that it becomes a focal point.

He is talented, that’s why people hate when he decides to flop instead of score easy buckets. Same as Luka complaining instead of playing.

I feel like the game is unbelievably different from even 20 years ago, it’s hard to meaningfully compare anything. Having watched for over 40 years, I feel like it’s hard for people to grasp how much the game has changed (skill, athleticism, play style, rules, etc).

I think the OP should’ve use something like rTS or something since at least it’s better. Even then it’s not great since it doesn’t consider the playstyle differences.

Any of Kobe’s 27+ PPG seasons would be way over 30 PPG in today’s NBA.

In the ‘05/06 season he had the 3rd highest percentage of his team’s points ever in NBA history. SGA isn’t even in the top 100 for this. Though obviously SGA is way more efficient and a better playmaker, so it really is comparing apples to oranges.

But in terms of pure bulk scoring, if adjusted for the league average, Kobe’s peak would be way past SGA.

A lot of times they’ll defect to Sga ball. Just give the ball to SGA and hope he can do something.

Its not that much higher than the 70s and 80s. The 90s and 2000s are low but the other decades are still scoring galore
