i mean theyve been together since they were 19. sure the vibes aint tight but they’ve grew so much together that its not really an issue. and both guys work really really hard, the org around them is also top class. Every year, both Jays sends text to newcomers whether they are a two way or a vet. Some vets came into the team and would always be amazed by the culture and how hard these two guys just work and compete. Dont have to be best friends in that case when you got enough professionals around.

There’s nobody in the league right now that matches up with Ant 1-on-1 well. That’s part of why no team in the league plays Ant with just one defender.

And it’s a reason Ant’s career high was against the Spurs in January when he dropped 55. Castle is a good defender but he’s not built in a lab to defend Ant lmao

I disagree. They didn’t play ant with one defender because the rest of the team failed to create any semblance of offence when he was doubled, so why not double the only offensive hub? They didn’t have enough shooters to space or roll guys to create or pass. No drive and kick options. If the wolves are healthy this year I guarantee we see many more single coverage plays on ant.

I love ant, he’s maybe my second favourite player to watch right now but I think you’re overestimating him a little here.

And yes, they’ll be forced to double him less but that’s not remotely because they’re not worried about his isolation. Despite being the focal point of our offense and having nearly 30% usage in the playoffs, in isolation, he had:

4th highest points per iso possession (behind only Naz Reid, OG, and Paul George who are lower usage wings)
4th highest iso FG% at 55% (same group but swap OG for Smart)
5th highest EFG% (behind those 5)
only 4.3% turnover frequency

Better in isolation this playoffs than SGA, Brunson, Jaylen Brown, Castle, Harper, all while injured.

He’s an iso demon and teams increasingly leaving him in iso isn’t because they have matchups for him, it’s because we hopefully will finally punish them for playing 3v4 with the rest of the floor.
