Ironic that people basically thought Roco was going to be what Jaden McDaniels ended up becoming

Given how close they came without Butler and how Butler is a great defender even as not being the lead scorer, totally.

Not saying they would have with certainty, thats dumb, but I would say it would be theres to lose, over the Warriors.

Butler has made it very clear he holds no particular love for Houston (his hometown) so it might have been an uncomfortable fit. Especially with a personality like his.

Just Harden and Cp3 was enough. They broke it up at the wrong time

Butler would would have been enough to offset the Harden curse.

Butler is the better player, but that Houston team and offense was all about 3pt shots. Jimmy can hit those shots, but was never a volume 3 pt shooter. Ariza stunk it up in game 7, but was probably a better overall fit for that team.

Oh and checked out the team. CP3 was 1st team defense for 6 seasons in a row, then he went to Houston and never made another defensive team. I don’t remember his defense totally dropping off

Those are some big personalities who all require the ball in their hand to be best effective. I just feel like they’d get in each other’s way at some.point

A trio of perennial underachievers who all know better than everyone. What could have gone wrong?

One of the more annoying things I’m finding is how pick swaps are just discussed as “picks” right now. In 2018 if you told me the Wolves owned pick swaps with anyone I’d be like “well that likely won’t convey” and yet it’s discussed like they’re missing out on drafting Cooper Flagg somehow. Just last week on a podcast I heard the Kessler was traded for four firsts. He was traded for 2 and 2 swaps, that’s so extremely different.

Yeah McDaniels is worth quite a few 1sts himself, so definitely not horrible.

I’m not so sure about that, do we know what slot those picks ended up? Jaden is a top 5 player in almost every draft class except for the historically great ones.

I’m about to turn 39 years old, I’m a couple years older than the Wolves. For basically my entire life the Wolves have been bad. Like, real bad. 7 seasons of 20 or fewer wins bad. After this trade happened we had two bad years of Ryan Saunders and now 5 straight trips to the playoffs, including 5 playoffs series wins. That’s 3 more than the entire rest of their history combined. Remember how I said bad bad? This is not the existence is pain portion of Wolves history.

There’s a reason RoCo was the top get in that trade, because Thibs valued defense above all else. It’s also why he drafted Kris Dunn instead of Jamal Murray.

So, no, I don’t think he’d have traded for CJ.

Thibs did. I want to make sure everyone remembers that. The man who made that decisions was Tom Thibodeau, a guy who was supposed to break the cycle of misery and pain felt by Wolves fans for decades (he did briefly, but then he made it worse).

Sure helps when the thing your selling tanks all of it’s value.

In my opinion, I’m glad with whatever return was received. Anything to get rid of that loser Jimmy. I would say keep him far away from Minnesota but he seems to do that himself with how many times he’s actually played against the Wolves after the trade.

Maybe chris plays less minutes throughout the season with jimmy there and his hamstring doesn’t blow up. If he stays healthy, they probably don’t have a falling out the next year.

I’d argue lately we have. Only bad one was the KAT trade and even that one had to happen just a bad return. Gobert trade, NAW-DLO trade, ayo trade.”all wins. Lamelo trade is yet to be seen.
