76ers 5-man lineup comparison based on Basketball Index’s projected net rating per 100 possessions (and the best of them at +11.6 doesn’t include LeBron OR Brown)
Interesting linked article from Adam Aaronson which uses “projected net rating from Basketball Index” to compare lineups. https://www.phillyvoice.com/sixers-news-analysis-nick-nurse-lineups-depth-chart-rotation-dean-wade-joel-embiid-lebron-james-jaylen-brown/
That site is perhaps best known for its invented stat LEBRON (Luck-adjusted player Estimate using a Box prior Regularized ON-off). They charge quite a bit for their variety of features so if any of you are subscribers please post the net rating projection for the likely opening day starters (Maxey, Edgecombe, JB, Lebron and Embiid), and comment on your thoughts about its value. Top 5 using LEBRON are Wemby, Jokic, SGA, Cade, and Luka. https://www.bball-index.com/lebron-application/
To me, the funniest part about the article is that by far the best projected net rating of +11.2 for a 5 man lineup consists of Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, Dean Wade, Dominick Barlow, Joel Embiid.
Somehow I doubt that lineup becomes the Sixers closing 5… And for whatever reason, Aaronson didn’t include the Sixers projected starting lineup as a baseline for comparison.
Weird.
