Don Nelson leads the We Believe Warriors to a historic playoff upset over his former team
Im a warriors fan. The Curry era has been the best thing to ever happen to me as a sports fan. An embarrassment of riches, memory after memory.
But this 07 run is still the most intense pop of adrenaline I’ve ever felt watching basketball, it was pure crack.
This felt like our championship at the time. What missing the playoffs for more than a decade will do to ya.
To me, that series was like waking up from a crack binge and realizing you’re outta crack.
I feel that way about the Bubble Heat.
truth
This is the team that laid the foundation. Dragged you out of the abyss and set you in the right path.
!!!!
you’re describing my whole ass thesis on the best part of sports. as a lifelong sports fan of many teams, none of which have ever won anything, the peaks of fandom have always been the moments where a team overachieves beyond your wildest dreams and knocks the damn door when preset expectations come calling!!!
there’s nothing like it. championships are great, but shit like this is better than any trophy.
cheers dude.
The Oakland crowds beat anything in the chase center era
My dad and I went to a Mavs/Warriors game early that year. GS beat Dallas that game and I remember both my dad and I leaving the game saying that everyone needed to watch out for Baron Davis.
I remember that I had grown a little bored of basketball around this time, but watching this series and how batshit electric Warriors fans were watching their team beat the title favorites got me reinvested. This series made me a Baron Davis fan for life.
It was because of this run that I became a Warriors fan.
I still remember getting my first warriors shirt. A We Believe shirt out of someone’s trunk at the gas station
Chuck hadn’t yet said San Francisco needed to clean up them dirty ass streets
This was one of those series that turned the sports world on its head.
That Warriors crowd was electric.
The upshot of this was that, with the historically dominant Mavs suddenly eliminated, the Spurs/Suns clash in the 2nd round became the De facto championship.
I was at this game. So epic.
Baron Davis posterizing AK47 made me believe too. Sloan had their number tho.
This warriors team is better than Steph. Bunch of bums. Baron Davis would shoot the lights out of Steph any day. Draymond and Kerr belong in a jail cell
