I’m not for one to make the game 4 hours long by calling every single foul but not calling this was beyond egregious. especially with the ref staring directly at it
It’s egregious for 29 other teams to get away with and while the Thunder aren’t doing something like this every possession they get away with things like this much more often than other teams. No other team would’ve challenged Shai arm baring AR but they get away with enough shit that they thought he could maybe get away with it

If the refs officiated OKCs defense against other teams like the refs officiate the defense against OKC? Half the thunder team would foul out every game

Yeah it’s gotten to the point where you can’t say they’re gaming the rules or playing on the line, cause they’ve gone way past that. They obviously have a stacked defensive roster and good defenders usually get away with more but what they get away with is ridiculous. Watching them force steals on drives you clearly see them getting away with holding and hitting the ball handlers arm much more than other teams
Also it’s annoying how during a lot of their games people are talking about how the officiating is clearly benefitting OKC more than the other team but then after the game anyone who says that gets downvoted and all of a sudden it’s a bad take
My mom is 74 years old and has watched basketball her whole life and been to a ton of games including the playoffs for various teams.
I just make that point to say during the IND v OKC final she even said something and she rarely does especially a team with no dog in the fight. I remember just laughing and saying essentially the who league and most people watching agree because its so blatant there is no subtlety to it.
I have never seen a team and refs allow a team to essentially maul the other team in just absolute egregious actions with no calls then if you even touch them while SGA is committing offensive fouls left and right it gets called

Teams were allowed to do the most annoying shit to Steph and Wemby in particular. I’m still angry about Randle grabbing Steph by the neck and it being a foul on Steph..and those in air fouls by Caruso.
As much as the Knicks and their fans annoyed me in other ways..they didn’t have to play dirty to win. I was afraid of losing the lead the whole game, not a series ending injury.
The Knicks were physical, especially with Wemby, but I never really felt they crossed into dirty territory like we saw with the Thunder a couple of times. It’s why I understood the couple of times Wemby lashed out - even though I don’t condone it.
Wemby should’ve copped a suspension for flagrant accumulation (not getting anything for the Brunson shove was baffling) but a lot of defenders should have picked up a lot more fouls too. It’s the Shaq conundrum all over again - people can’t guard him legally (for different reasons) so the referees let people get away with too much when they try.

It may be a flagrant, but I legitimately believe Hartenstein’s middle finger got caught in Castle’s hair. Not because I’m an OKC fan (I’m not), or because I think Hartenstein is some saint who would never do something like that, but because I don’t think he could even purposely grab Castle’s hair in that way, that quickly, with just his middle finger, looking out of the corner of his eye, enough to fling him backwards.
It is also a hazard that Castle is probably going to deal with more in his career if he keeps wearing his hair that long and high.

The Thunder committed some absolutely egregious fouls during that series like this one from Hartenstein and the time Caruso almost injured Castle on an open layup. The Thunder played a dirty series and the Spurs figured out a way to match that energy.
It was disappointing to see the Spurs carry that same sort of energy into the finals. Not a good look for that young team.
