All 9 missed foul calls by the refs against the Rockets. 2017-2018 western conference finals game 7
What about the missed calls to the other team?
Steph had 14 free throws total in this series
Curry had 81 drives that series.
He had two free throw attempts from those drives.
Harden gets treated like Steph by the officials for 1 game, and 8 years later people are still crying about it
He’s just not a “draw the contact” type of player, ya know?
/s
Shh. You can’t say that.
Well yeah, you can’t expect a 3 point shooting team like GSW to get foul calls when playing against… uhh… hold on…
Shh, don’t ruin the narrative… The Rockets definitely had more missed calls though
And more missed 3PAs.
And more hypothetical championships.
analytical championships*
analytically, Jaylen Brown doesnt have a championship
And the Cavs won the ECF this summer!
Oh shut up
Is this hypothetical championship worth more than the KD toe one?
Shoot. I mean, that’s the best offensive team of all time according to Zach Lowe. And they’ve got the titles to prove it.
And more theoretical points, per the Morey Report.
The Rockets can still win this series if Adam Silver has the courage to do what’s right
From a post the day after the game:
(everything below is copied and pasted from that post)
Strap in boys, it’s gonna be a ride. So I’ve basically reviewed the whole game last night, and here are the questionable plays which I thought should have been calls/were called wrongly.
#Calls going against Rockets:
Wrong travelling call against Capela, didn’t lift up his pivot foot.
Slight push on PJ Tucker no call, KD gets the call on the other end. Probably a superstar call.
Harden might have gotten shoved in the back by Looney, no call.
Capela called for a goaltend for what seemed to be a clean block.
Harden fouled on the landing, no call. Slowmo
Harden fouled on three attempt, no call. Slowmo
Ref disallows continuation on Harden’s three. Slowmo
Eric Gordon fouled by Draymond, no call.
#Calls going against Warriors:
Klay gets called for an early 2nd foul which didn’t look like much contact, looked like ball just slipped out of EG’s hands.
Curry’s hip gets pushed by Gerald Green, even falls on the ground. No call.
Jordan Bell raked across the arm by Harden, no call. (pro tip: right click and select 1⁄4 speed to see the contact)
Klay gets hand checked by Tucker and loses the ball. No call. Slowmo
KD gets pushed into Harden by Ryan Anderson, foul on KD. Similar to this play, albeit less egregious by Anderson.
Klay gets a point removed by Scott Foster.
A major theme which showed itself was the fact that Ryan Anderson literally (I’m not kidding) hand checked Curry every time he was switched onto him. And the Warriors forced that switch A LOT. Here’s ALL the plays where Anderson guarded Curry:

Bonus Harden trying to draw foul when there was none & just looking like a fool:

Oh and, inb4 Rockets fans accuse me of bias again, and calling me a Warriors fan. Would a Warrior fan post these?

The entire game is freely available online, if you’re so angry why don’t you make your own compilation? And u/unklebuckets, still waiting for your refs lowlights thread, or any of the 1+ million subscribers to make one.
Edit: Summary of the night lol. Credits to u/wetjumpshot
u/keyone2015 can we get a compilation video with this?
So more important calls went against the Rockets? What’s your point and you couldn’t even get my name right 😂
Appreciate your efforts
Harden got fouls on multiple threes and yet most of the warriors uncalled fouls are hand checks. People just can’t admit the rockets got absolutely hosed especially with the landing space ones
The weirdest part is they were calling most of these all season and even into the playoffs. But some of these were so badly missed and it is just annoying as a fan of the sport with not caring who wins to watch refs officiate differently based on the score or if the series isn’t even. It just is expected at this point to watch any team with a 2-1 lead to have some terrible calls their way. That whole spurs-okc series was just cringeworthy to watch when spurs were up, hugging wemby was allowed, spurs were down, hartenstein gets a back to back call on odd soft calls within 4 minutes of the game. I say that being one of the grumps who hated how okc got away with things but that isn’t the solution. Call it consistently is all i ask.
This post is idiotic because it tries so hard to make the “list” seem longer as if slight offball contact or hand checks are the same as undercutting a guy on a 3pt attempt. He also did not seek out the same marginal contact plays for the Rockets list.
That guy DID end up being a Warriors fan and had an implosion in that very thread when he got called out for it lol
that guy’s account is banned too
Show me one series from 2015-2018 where Steph wasn’t mauled with a poor whistle. The nba refereeing is awful (in terms of calling a tight and consistent game), but that goes pretty much across the board.
Who can forget that blatant no call against NOLA bruh…
No those don’t count.
the warriors are winless in hypotheticals man
I remember back in the day, Draymond also lost every hypothetical matchup 🤣
Rockets had more missed calls for sure
How many more?
Prolly just one hands worth
Nah
You guys are bored this was a poorly officiated game doesn’t make the ring any less valid though lol
CV!!!
Sure, there were some. Not half as many though. The calls heavily favored GS in this game. Rockets would have likely advanced had it been even.
Webber so fired up because he got robbed back in 2002
The EG drive lives rent free in my mind, I always remember that play when people bring up this game and say Houston didn’t drive.
They did and was punished by it, which made them settle for more shots.
The “moving screen” he kept going off on by Bell was clearly a hook and pull of the arm by Harden. They showed it from 3 different angles too haah
surely this isn’t the same game where they missed like 30 three pointers in a row right
One went in but got called off. Really it was like 13 in a row at most. But regardless of the calls Houston still led at halftime and only lost by like 7 or 8 points. They were very much still in the game.
The true reason they lost is because CP3 was out with his injury. I think the stat for that year was something like the Rockets were 35-1 or something when CP3, Harden, and Capela all played
I want to believe that if harden’s made three that got called off counted, it would have been changed the momentum at least a little and the mental aspect of missing X threes in a row would have the team playing a little less tight. That would have been a potential 4 point play instead of side out. Not saying they would have won cause anything can happen, but the odds are much higher they pull it off
1 for 27 🔥
Hornets playoff appearances 🔥
Crazy that Kobe Bryant has more rape charges than Hornets have play-off apperaences in last 10 years.
Stones from a glass house… your team employed miles bridges for 8 years
Yeah but we got rid of him, Kobe stayed his entire career at Lakers and everyone knew what he did. Plus rape is worse than any other crime.
Yea I’m not condoning Kobe whatsoever, but your off-hand dismissal of the woman-beater is concerning
What dismissal? Nobody in Charlotte liked the guy and everyone was glad when he got traded to Phoenix, meanwhile the rapist is considered a God by Lakers fans.
Fuck Kobe as a person, but it’s funny how you had to take it away from basketball. You could’ve just called Luka fat or something, or say that we’re not making the playin this year
Luka is a fat Slovenian bum and Lakers will finish seed 14
Hey!!!
yeah, regardless of Foster doing his best out there, the team still missed all those 3s on a row and the reason was that they didnt get good looks bc their HOF PG was out for the first time in the series
You could say that. You could also say the only reason the series even went to 7 is because Iguodala got hurt.
The Rockets were 42-3 when CP3, Harden, and Capela all played. Pretty unreal, truly. But they were 1-2 against the Warriors in that series before Iguodala got hurt, including a 40-point blowout loss in game 3. They won games 4 and 5 by only a couple points after the injury to Iguodala, and before CP3 got hurt - it’s not too much of a stretch to say that if Iguodala didn’t go down the series is over in 5 and CP3 doesn’t ever get hurt.
Igoudala was also injured and missed more games but nobody wants to talk about that lol
Iguodala isn’t the floor general point god who can create space and open up the floor. He’s a great player but very different
Right, but he also missed twice as much time so you can’t just say cp3 missing two games was the difference.
They lost the games after Iguodala got hurt by only a couple points. If they had Iguodala, they might have won both those games, and the series would be over in 5 games before CP3 even gets hurt. That he’s not as good as CP3 doesn’t really matter in that context.
eh, if cp3 somehow miraculously didnt go down against the warriors and won then he 100% surely would’ve gone down the first game against the cavs lol.
and whoever were left remaining would NOT have beaten 2018 beastmode lebron lmfao
Yes they wouldve, rockets in 5 easily
Surely getting fouled relentlessly with no calls had nothing to do with that
I’m a certified Harden hater and some of these misses were too blatant. They were calling landing space so close and just stopped for this game.
Most of these are typical game 7 whistle stuff. The first landing space call is certainly a foul and should have been called, they included two rip throughs correctly called as on the floor and not a shooting foul, and PJ Tucker clearly fouls Steph at midcourt to get a steal and that’s not called either.
Hell, the last clip doesn’t even show any angles where it’s clearly not a foul
The concept of loosely called game 7s is apparently a conspiracy
Those weren’t rip throughs
Pulling up to shoot in a manner that swings your arms into the defenders?
It’s not as textbook as swinging your arms into a defenders outstretched arm but that type of foul is supposed to be called on the floor.
Not a rip through. That’s bad defense, the NBA has not rewarded lazy defense like that in a long time
Yes it is bad defense, which is why it was called a foul both times.
The nba also doesn’t reward moves with no intention of scoring that attempt to draw free throws, especially in game 7 of the WCF, which is why it was a foul on the floor and not a shooting foul.
Hope that helps!
cooked him tbh
Someone high up probably told the refs, “make Harden earn his points this time.”
And let Jordan Bell use moving screens to get Curry open 3’s
yea steph is famously never fouled off the ball
Yeah the warriors never benefitted from a moving screen
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S17COnSOHkI
Everyone benefits from moving screens.
Nobody in league history has benefited more than the warriors. Literally multiple chips as the go-to move.
Bogut admitted to clotheslining people all the time and wondering why they never called it cmon you’re not being serious lmao
Is your argument that they wouldn’t have won the chips without moving screens…?
Average Bay Area person versus reading comprehension. If you don’t know the answer you aren’t worth the time really.
Yeah “average Bay Area person” is supposed to be an insult? Hate us cause you’re anus.
when did i say that? complaining about calls as a rockets fan is hilarious lol you rode foul baiting to 60 win seasons
Idk if know why I’m going back and forth with a bandwagon fan lol
been a warrior fan probably longer than youve been alive
Yeah sure
is 25 years long enough? all this crying wont bring a ring to houston
Downvote all you want, but this is why Harden wasn’t a great guy to lead your team in the playoffs. The refs let them play harder, and the foul hunting/baiting doesn’t work as well. I’m sure we can make a highlight reel of Steph constantly being assaulted off ball running around screens, too. And I’ll say this while admitting that Harden was an extremely talented player in his prime
Works pretty well for Shai in the playoffs.
The difference when nba wants to force you as face of the league
Does this mean the league wants Luka as the face of the league?
Yeah nobody wanted Curry to lose lol
SGA gets free throws in the regular season, playoffs, finals and even in FIBA. I guess it’s rigged everywhere for him
And Luka
what
He said it works pretty well for Shai in the playoffs.
You’re under a post of a game seven that came down to the wire versus the best team ever and left with this conclusion
Scott foster the crew chief not surprising
Just ftr Scott foster was voted the best ref by players this year 😂
Foul baiting team doesn’t get actual fouls called in game 7. I think there’s a children’s story about this called “The boy who cried Wolf”. Imagine if OKC fans did this today, and just remember Harden was so much more egregious than SGA at foul baiting
The Warriors, super known for their ethical hoops
If you ignore the nut kicking, eye gouging, undercutting, and moving screens ofc
I forgot which podcast but someone from the rockets was talking about this game and how in the 4th Q they realized 3s were not going in and started to drive in. By then the paint was so clogged and no calls were being called for them so it was a tough game to win
It’s crazy people see this and are still like “they missed so many threes they deserved to lose.” If the refs ain’t calling shit there’s not much you can do. Also the not calling the landing space fouls is egregious
Ok now do the missed calls on the warriors. Hell even just Steph lol.
The fact that the Rockets were complaining about these tells you everything there is to know. Ugliest basketball that helped ruin the league. Jump into peoples arms 30 far from the basket, pin a dudes arm and fall backward to try to get a call. It’s sad.
none of these were foul baiting tho
Yeah, Reggie Miller and Chris Webber wasn’t complaining about these foul calls. Just the “Rockets”. What do you think about the Jordan Bell miss screen? Did your delusional mind miss that too?
Go to 50 sec remaining in the video and watch both clips of Harden grabbing his arm and pulling back. That being said I’ve watched basketball for 40 years. Every game has some bad calls, every series has some bad games. I’ve also seen Steph face the Celtics in 2022 and put his team on his back and win three straight games with weak teammates while also getting fouled a ton. Superstars win, players like Harden go to stacked teams in 4 different cities and lose. Is what it is.
Whining about officiating is ALWAYS a loser move.
That’s only true for the players during the game. If you’re playing, you need to focus on controlling what you can control. Everyone else has carte Blanche to point out when the officiating is obviously skewed.
Luckily, my Knicks overcame the one sided whistle. I would’ve been tight had the bullshit kept us from winning a title. It’s alright to point out when things are unfair.
So the King fans shouldn’t complain about 2002? Like i said before you are delusional asf, buddy
>Like I said before
Huh? I have no idea what you’re talking about.
Redditors that post shit like “I’ve been saying this forever!” Like bro this shit anonymous, turn your post history back on lmao
That dude is just crashing out hard because everyone on this site isn’t applauding him I guess
You don’t know about the Kings vs Lakers in 2002 series? This is way its a waste of time talking to people who have no idea what they are talking about
Obviously the officials were whisking away those shots with stilts and shields at the rim.
It is mind boggling that someone brings up officiating from a game that their team self destructed in a spectacular fashion
Easier to be a victim than to hold our favorite teams accountable.
I mean I guess this is sometimes what happens when you’re a foul merchant all season long and everyone is talking about it.
Or the NBA wanted a new superstar so they rigged the series for his bumass team?
Curry has the worst whistle for a superstar in the history of the NBA. They definitely did not rig this but I guess you believe this narrative since you’re still posting about it 8 years later.
Worst whistle in NBA history 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Yeah ok, buddy lol
Poor Rockets fan. Sorry they suck brotha
At least I’m not a bandwagon like yourself brotha
lnao all these loser Rockets fans crying 😭😭😭 yall have the ugliest brand of sports down there in Houston for both basketball and baseball
Don’t forget football. Shroud is trash
yeah this was one of the most insanely officiated games I’d ever seen
[deleted]
It’s ok. Daryl Morey crowned them in the Morey Report, restoring order to the world.
Only 9 calls? Wasn’t the number like 93 points, for the series, that the refs cost them? So this must have been one of the best reffed games all series.
Maybe I’m forgetting but I don’t remember much outrage about this after it happened
Genuine question but does it seem like people care less about this stuff than cap circumvention?
Everyone hated the rockets and loved the warriors, not surprising
Makes sense, people specifically hate Harden lol
everyone definitely did not love the warriors
Uh no they did not, everyone and their mother was rooting for the Rockets in this series
People loved the Warriors in ‘15 and ‘16. When KD went there, they became major villains.
People did not love the warriors, they just hated the rockets more
I think it was the other way around tbh
You’re thinking wrong
The KD warriors was the most hate watched team of all time bud
people absolutely did not love the Warriors, especially in 2018
Jordan Bell ended the game with 2 personal fouls.
Insane as he committed at least 4 in this video alone.
Call it how I see it. I remember missed/bad calls on both sides. The difference was Houston not being able to hit their shots.
Just a brain dead opinion
Ok that’s enough Reddit for today
Are we back in 2018?
So ticky tack and most are on Harden notorious embellisher. In a game 7 of a conference final? Yeah they’re going to have a higher bar for physicality
Fun fact: the Rockets still had a 22-14 edge at the FT line and that advantage was +10 before KD was fouled on purpose in the final seconds.
Harden and D’Antoni freaking out so much about iffy bits of contact at the start of this video right after the Rockets had been ahead by 15 was a harbinger of what followed. Just begging for fouls (and looking for more) that frequently aren’t called instead of just playing the game.
Kawhi injured himself stepping on someone’s foot on the bench before he stepped on ZaZa. Also Spurs complaining about this when Bruce Bowen did this routinely is rich. Downvote away!
This is called karma hardens flopping and foul baiting finally came for Payment
That’s about a 15 point difference right there.
Thank you OP…
Yea I love rewatching Ws
No problem 💪
You can’t do this to me…. I just got done with my morning cry about the girl who left me in 2019. I don’t have time to have another cry for my favorite sports team from 2018!
personally i rejoiced. harden’s style of play was not only painful to watch but also bad for basketball.
Tbh its embarrassing for gsw that kd curry klay dray iggy went down that much in a g7 vs harden and eric gordan
League being rigged hits different when it happens to you lol.
Boo hoo, cry about it.
You going to post that Morey Memo to the league?
Embarrassing shit.
Here comes another delusional bandwagon fan. Yawn
Remember this is all before the ref documentary came out. Now look how we talk about Scott Foster (and others) doing the leagues bidding. Imagine how the masses would have viewed this one.
FTR
Jordan Bell. Harden stopper.
The one that they actually call is to aggressively wave off the made three, the chef’s kiss
Mike should’ve called Dan Tony Brothers for help
The league couldn’t let the moving screen dynasty end this way
Damn, that’s crazy
They missed 45 3s. Warriors didn’t win Houston lost
refs where in on it 100%
🤣🤣🤣 Houston fans still on this?
Refs got confused and started seeing 5 Stephs in Rockets jerseys
You guys always love playing the victim dont you lmao
Fandom be like that. Gotta be insufferably biased lol
Did Harden ask for the payment in ones? Can’t fault a dude for stocking up on cash to make it rain in the club.
The Jordan Bell moving screen seemed pretty iffy to call. He stepped into Harden’s path which happens 50 times a game. It’s worse because Harden pulls to try to get around him so it looks like more movement. The foul at 3:53 on Durant easily could’ve/should’ve been an offensive foul for a moving screen as the Rockets player rode Durant into Harden. Moving screens are never called in the NBA, but if it causes the defender to foul then it can be a different story.
Some of these are just really bad though, especially the 4-point play waved off.
I watched the game live as a neutral but cheering for Rockets for a new Finals matchup, and I don’t remember feeling like the Rockets got hosed. Nothing like the Kings in 2002. I do remember them missing tons of shots though.
Gordon getting absolutely hacked by Draymond from behind is a crazy no call
He bumps him into Bell and then swings his arms down fouling the hell out of him
Sucks, but I mean if you’re trying to win a Game 7, you should probably not miss 27 straight 3s.
It makes it harder when the other team gets to just hack you while you’re shooting them.
Cosmic justice. The nba gods watched peak morey ball and said I don’t think so
As a lifelong Rockets fan I have to say this is not why we lost. Maybe this is debated more but I can say the general sentiment in Houston is we win if we have CP3 in the game.
Obviously the 3s going cold were part of it but that’s the core of it to us. We had two all time floor generals that history has shown need that other main guy on their team to win.
Stop it. Igoudala missed twice as many games as cp3. Yall were the worse team.
The more I look back on this series, it reminds me a lot of the 2017 AFC Championship Game. It really should have been the end of the dynasty team but with a combination of ref calls and the other team imploding gave them the win. And the losing team never recovered from the loss
Or you know…the 0-27 straight missed 3’s
I did say the other team imploding did I not?
That’s why this is a crappy post.
Let me post Steph and Jokic getting clawed and held on the arm 24⁄7 while we are at it
Relax bro it ain’t that deep
I agree!
I literally hate peoples reaction to this game.
Yeah, 0-27, we get it. Game shouldn’t have even been close in the first place. Rockets should’ve been up like 30 at half if not for all the missed calls.
It doesn’t matter whether they missed shots, where are yalls principles.
No need to post this
The Morey report already has the Rockets as the statistical analytical champions
Rudy Gobert complains about Warriors-Rockets Game 1 refs

Harden fans continue to be the most pathetic NBA fans ever 😭😭
Chris Webber and Reggie Miller must be “Harden Fans” too lol. Delusion runs deep in you
NBA players add to chorus of refereeing complaints on Twitter
https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/26629022/nba-players-add-chorus-refereeing-complaints-twitter
This is so much worse than Kings-Lakers and no one seems to care.
Because it’s not. There were like six missed calls on the Warriors and one was a foul on KD that was called a foul ON KD which is a four point swing.
And we aren’t even talking about grabbing curry on every single play the entire series.
