Dragic is like 6’4” and can technically dunk when he wants but just never did in games. The one time he was wide open and decided to dunk the bench looked like they had just won the NBA finals 😭🤣

Honestly my favorite “short” dunker was Tyler Johnson back in like 2017-2018 on the Heat. By no means an exceptional player but damn was that a fun season after basically starting 7-30 for the season after losing Wade and then slowly Bosh.

Right, like, even when we hit the 8 foot rims at the park, every thinks its show time, and then we all remember most of us can’t palm the ball and even when you get up with two hands it’s harder to actually throw it down with smaller hands while still getting on the rim. We’ll be getting way up and still clanging dunks off the back of the rim lol.

Al jefferson had a move where he fakes the ball throw with one hand. It is not a move everyone can just do.

In highschool, I could totally lay the ball up and then grab the rim. That was enough for me to tell everyone I could dunk.
There was one gym at a highschool in our league where I could actually dunk. I don’t think the rim was shorter, but the floor was bouncier or something.

At 6”4, I sometimes get asked if I can dunk on an NBA hoop and the answer is absolutely not.

You also get all the other things with being over 6 feet. Athleticism does not scale equally to your height. Like if you were magically 8 inches taller, you are carrying more weight or need more, you get shoved in the post when you are 8 instead of running around the perimeter building speed, you have to dribble differently to avoid all the 5’8” people, it is not just a height difference.

I think he was more talented than his numbers would suggest. As others have said, injuries really derailed him. Couldn’t stay healthy and his efficiency really plummeted, it was bad even for the time. I’m not saying he would have been TP, but when he hurt himself again right before the ‘11 playoffs there were plenty people saying “Oh the Mavs are nice, too bad they’re missing Roddy (and Caron Butler, but that’s another story).”
He managed to have a baller career at Efes though.
He was transcendent until he wasn’t, one of the biggest “what might have been” situations for a team that had a lot of them
He’s played in Euroleague until now but has no contract for the upcoming season.
It was derailed by injuries, even if he made a great comeback in Euroleague at the end of his career
There was a game where Beaubois absolutely cooked Curry and the Warriors, dropped 40 on them.
At that point in time, I would’ve guessed he’d end up with a better career than Steph.

Roddy B was probably the best transaction you could make on the Ps4/xbone version of NBA 2k14. He was a free agent and would develop into an 86+ (back when that was fucking unreal) in like 3 seasons.

Gravity is literally just pulling in double or more defensive attention by being an offensive threat. It’s a fundamental pillar of team basketball.
In a play like this one the Mavs run, it’s most effective when the screener is a good perimeter shooter. If it was run with a non shooter- like a Shaq or Ben Wallace, both defenders would sag and give attention to the cutter and there should be no alley oop
Also see for reference: Shaq causing entire defenses to sell out to him in the paint. That isnt gravity anymore, its an entire black hole at that point
Yeah but guys like Steph and Dirk have a unique ability to command that double without the ball in their hands. In dirks case it also prevents top interior players from defending the inside.

I always felt like Beaubois’ actual barefoot height was 6’1” because he always to me looked like all of the 6’3~4” listed guys of that era. Could make sense. NBA players of that era, the barefoot height was almost NEVER listed anywhere outside of sometimes the combine. Euro guys may have just been more honest with it.

Kidd is the best passer I’ve ever seen.
I always thought Magic was the gold standard, but Kidd does have more career assists than everyone but Stockton. Plus Kidd has the honor of being the best NBA player to come out of Cal.

I always thought Kidd was one of the best floor generals I’ve seen: directing traffic, knowing where to attack the defense, what teammates to look for, where to get it to them. Up there with LeBron and CP3.
Magic is definitely still the gold standard. Stockton and Kidd played 19 seasons to Magic’s 13, so they better have more assists to even be in the conversation because Magic averaged more assists than either one. No one has ever been able to spread it around and run the break like him. The would-be exception is Bird who probably could have done it if his team had asked him to.
Stockton and Malone also came into the league just a year apart. Malone was a walking bucket, just as deadly at 15-20 ft as in the paint, and it didn’t matter how the ball got to him. Stockton was truly great, but it’s not difficult to argue that he had it easier than anyone ever.
