Yeah it was mostly just that one season though, crazy outlier season for him, he shot insanely well in 2016-2017

I think he’s the only player smaller then 6 foot to make all-nba. (Well going by official estimates since I’ve seen people claim Iverson’s true height was like 5 foot 10)

It actually would have been close which is the crazy part. Westbrooks’s clutch stats were also off the charts. Would have been an awesome debate

It was either him or Russ. Both had insane clutch performances that year.

Isaiah had the KIT4 hype though, so I think you’re right.

He was easily the most lethal Celtics player that I’ve ever watched during that season, and I’ve been watching since Pierce got drafted. You just knew it was a bucket every time he received the ball with any amount of space. We did him so dirty.

Naaaa. Russ was above him that yesar. But looking back at the stats he would’ve won it just about every other year

Dude was a crazy good finisher for his size.

He played very physical and would throw his body into defenders into the paint to get shots off. The way he would just bounce off defenders was incredible but looked very unsustainable.

The hip injury took away that part of his game. He went from having 33-34% of his Field goals from 0-3 feet at his best to 13% for the remainder of his career. His field goal % at the rim also took a hit from 58% down to 52%.

As a result his driving pressure took a hit, he stopped getting to the FT line as much, and defenders could play tight on him which made his 3 point shooting less affective.

Russell Westbrook. Man was perineal All-Star, All NBA and an MVP and triple double magnet. He didn’t have the same level of injuries that Rose, Thomas, Kemba or Wall did. And Roy Hibbert was never in the same stratosphere as a player.

His athleticism fell off a cliff and he lost his ability to shoot from the mid-range, shoot from the line, shoot when anyone isn’t guarding him, or even make simple layups.

Russ has been on 6 franchises in 7 years:

• Wizards
• Rockets
• Lakers
• Clippers
• Nuggets
• Kings

None of them have wanted him back even at the minimum.

That series against the wizards turned me from a casual fan to a watch every game every season fan. The fights, the 53 point game from IT, that game 6 where both teams were trading daggers down the stretch, game 7 Kelly the Clynyc Olynyc 26 off the bench. There was real bad blood between those two teams and it was just phenomenaly entertaining basketball

He played hurt in the playoff for BOS, after his sister died. Stevens tried to low ball him because he got hurt playing for them. Was it the right move by Steven’s maybe, but it was cold. Im sure other stars will notice the same and if they are in the same situation in Bos. They will for sure sit now, wont risk it for Celtics, see Tatum in game 7. It’s going to be a rep and story that fans will tell for a while. Hope it was worth it.

As much as he’s one of my favourite players of all time, there’s a lot to the story people missed.

For example, Isaiah would later say the doctors lied to him or got his diagnosis wrong, but we know that isn’t true.

Right after he was pulled from the playoffs, the Celtics put out a press release saying he had FAI and a labral tear.

• FAI = He had a lumpy bone in his hip socket. It can sometimes rarely be caused by damage, but it’s almost always a birth defect.

• Labral Tear = The cartilage in his hip had torn. Basically means he had early-onset arthritis.

The Labrum sort of acts like a break pad that stops your bones from scraping against each other when they move, and it doesn’t heal once it’s damaged. The lumpy bone had torn that cartilage up.

Isaiah spent the offseason saying he would be fine and wouldn’t need surgery, and that he’d be fine after rehab - But it’s not an injury you can fix with rehab.

Surgery probably wouldn’t have helped his career much, the outlook for athlete who get resurfaced hips is pretty grim, but years later Isaiah would get that surgery and talk about how much the pain had subsided and how much he wished he’d gotten it earlier.

It wasn’t a wrong diagnosis. Isaiah was hoping to secure an extension before his hip gave out.

I understand why IT felt that way, but everyone else played it up out of pure Celtics hate. 

Ainge did what he had to do in the moment.

Any other team could’ve offered him the contract he wanted.
