[Highlight] Jokic sprints over to Jaden McDaniels to express shock and disbelief at McDaniels for scoring a basket in a basketball game
Jaden McDaniels is one of the funniest players in a while
The guy not only talked hot shit about the nuggets to the press, he also proved them right and doubled down after. I had no dog in the fight but man was that fun to experience
never forget the guy punched a wall in a play-in game for wolves to have a chance in the playoffs n he proceeded to break his hand.
Bad day to be a wall
The wall that broke his hand? That wall?
If a shitty wall breaks Jaden’s hand, just how shitty is Jaden?
Edit: y’all must be the type who gets your ass kicked & then claim: “you should see the other guy”
Edit2: thanks for letting me know how many of y’all’s type are in here. Quite nice putting a number to it.
regardless of this silly internet argument i will die on the hill that “you should see the other guy” is a goated quip
Cliche that always warrants either chuckle or sigh, and normally a smile.
i think you need to go outside for a bit
That was certainly silly, but just for public record, the “wall” was a plastic tunnel that he didn’t know had concrete behind it lol.
just building lore
And rodriguez
It was they final game of the season. Wolves lost in the 7-8 Play-in to the Lakers in OT without Jaden or Rudy. Ant shot 3-17, including 0-9 from 3, and only scored 9 points. Wolves did not shoot a free throw in the second half until the final possession.
Wolves win that game, they probably would have made the Western Conference Finals that year too.
Yep, the year the Nuggets won the title. Nuggets said Minnesota was their toughest out that year, but we didn’t have McDaniels or Naz Reid for that series. Sliding glass door moment.
How are the Kings doing in recent years?
They got Darius acuff
How are the timberwolves?
Winning much?
Edit: no? Seems I hit a nerve. Good luck, y’all will figure it out someday. Just, not today.
Yes we are lol
Oh yeah? Show me your trophies
Show me the kings lol. We’ve made the wcf twice lately
Because I didn’t reply to you in 6 minutes? I don’t sit on my ass on Reddit all day like you lol.
Also, call me when you win a playoff series.
He and Ant together are such a funny dichotomy. Ant’s obviously a killer, but he’s fucking effervescent and always goofing with other guys - Jaden is actually just kind of an asshole and genuinely seems like he has no interest whatsoever in being friendly on the court. Somehow it works
Mike Conley knew exactly what he was doing with that half-court pass 😂 glad we picked him up
He took the blame for the incident saying something like he shouldn’t have done that lmao
That’s our 4X NBA sportsman of the year award winner. Selfless champion
Lmao yep he had bad intentions and knew Jaden would play into them. Devil on his shoulder won that night.
He never runs this fast in actual games
Bro I will die on this hill but Jaden McDaniels didn’t even break some dumbass, unwritten rule. It was not a regular season game, it was in the middle of the series. They were still competing. Why shouldn’t he take an extra shot to demoralize his opponents?? Im a big Jokic fan but he was soft af for this
Agree, specially because 5 seconds before Denver had just shot and missed a three
Well that’s dumb lol. You can think the unwritten rule is dumb (and id agree)
But getting a rebound up 4 with 8 seconds left, with everyone backing off.
And throwing the ball ahead to the point you’re 50+ feet away from the other closest player with 2 seconds left and choosing to lay the ball up instead of dribbling the ball out is THE textbook example of someone breaking a “dumbass, unwritten rule”
If you conveniently leave out the part where the rebound was off of Murray jacking up a shot to make the score look better also instead of dribbling it out, sure.
Your comment doesn’t make much sense. The “unwritten rule” is about sportsmanship, and you literally admit that the only purpose he did it was for mind game reasons.
And to be clear, I too don’t care much for this rule. But we also don’t have to lie about what happened here. I think it’s OK for a player to get mad about it, it adds some drama.
There are zero lies in his comment
His comment makes perfectly clear sense.
There is one lie, they actually weren’t competing anymore. The nuggets were walking off the court after they scored. They literally stopped competing hence this even happening.
Sure they were, literally seconds before. Mike Conley got the ball to throw to Jaden off of a missed shot from Denver. So yes, they were actively competing. They could have held the ball and not shot, but they didn’t, and that let Jaden get an easy layup which hurt Jokic’s feelings for some reason.
I literally explained why their comment was inaccurate, wtf are we talking about? I can see you’re getting a little excited right now, making multiple comments in this thread. But I need you to relax.
How is playing a mind game unsportsmanlike? Sportsmanship doesn’t mean you also don’t give yourself the best chance to win.
The game was over, no need to score and make the game longer. It’s not competing, it’s petty and have no point. Why waste time? What will that 2 extra pt do but extend the game when everyone was walking to the locker room already.
Murray was trying to score on the other end right before this. Nuggets were still playing and def not walking back to the locker room
Did you want them to get a TO instead? You don’t understand why under 24 sec ppl just let it expire?
“What will that 2 extra pt do ?”
Rub salt into the wound of the team that you are still in bitter competition with
Yes, that extra 2 pts when no one is playing anymore is really salty. Salty of Jaden
So what?
Dont like it? Stop him.
Or just let time expire? If Jaden want to impact the game. Score when it matters not pad his stat after.
Exactly
Oh no not their previous ten seconds
Ten seconds for nothing .. why force the team to walk back on the court.
You know the student who waited till the last second to ask the professor questions? That’s him..
Let’s pretend McDaniels somehow lost the ball out of bounds when he grabbed that pass. Nuggets get the ball with like 3 seconds left. Since they just tried scoring right before, do you think that, in this scenario, they would inbound and let time run out or would they make an attempt to score again?
Let the time run out? Everyone stopped playing already
I really didn’t have ill will for Denver or their fanbase before this series, but it was mind blowing how their fans dismissed the Timberpups before the series.
This felt great.
Real fans knew it wouldn’t be an easy series, even with injuries. Twolves have consistently been one of our toughest matchups for a few years. Hopefully we both go into the postseason healthy this year…
People acting like Christmas wasn’t a slugfest same as pretty much every single den v min game for the past 3 years at least. These teams continually give some of the best games in the past few seasons. I still think of Braun’s dunk on Rudy or Rudy’s fadeaway over Jokic.
Exactly, some of the most fun but also stressful games over the last few years. Great to watch but I wouldn’t mind not seeing you guys in the first round haha. I am interested how the Twolves roster moves change the dynamic this year
It’s going to look or feel really different. None of us know how much really. But all I expect right now is ball movement I’ve never seen in these jerseys and half court contest shooting from LaMelo and Ant. I’m not even sure they are going to pay attention to some of the opponents this season. They will be playing a game of horse while the game goes on around them.
Agree absolutely! I want the nuggets every playoffs because it’s a rivalry, but we don’t need to be kicking each other out right at the start. It’s tough though because now there are so many good teams in the conference that matchups like this could realistically be in the first round again.
We have been battling since the last game to decide who got 8th place. Which was like 8-10 years ago.
Agreed!
Its kinda funny, the 24 series, i hated Murray and didnt care about Jokic and this one i hated jokic and didnt care about Murray
Heat packs.
I’m so excited for your LeMelo Ball experience. I
Lol, how did we “dismiss” the Wolves?!
You have had our number as of late no doubt, but don’t flatter yourself.
Honestly, if you ever want to hear someone ever shit talk a Coloradan, just ask someone from either the PNW or California about them lmao They look down on them so much.
Never dismiss the WoodDogs
Fastest he ever moved. This is Jokic’s version of The Block.
Yet the narrative is Joker isn’t really passionate or cares about the NBA just his horses or w.e. For a person who don’t care he sure seems to care when he’s losing and the other team scores instead of holding the ball
He hates losing more than he enjoys winning.
A lot of top athletes are like this to be fair. Tom Brady for example has said that losing hurts more than winning feels good
I fully believe this
Also, I’m pretty similar in that. Losing sucks, it’s awful. Winning never feels as good as my imagination made me think it would.
Edit: please, explain why you disagree? His actions are pretty telling. Y’all upvote the guy saying he’s nonchalant when he wins & crashes out when he loses.
Soo… 🤷🏻♂️
Sometimes the best competitors are just incredibly, massively sore losers lmao
Nonchalant when he wins but crashes out when he’s losing
Nah, everyone knows he loves the game. Its the only way you can get that good. He tends not to care about all the non basketball parts of the profession particularly the fame / attention and non game related time commitments.
The only reason that I get annoyed at the whole “basketball is just Jokic’s day job” bit is that if he were black it would be seen as a personal flaw not a cute quirk
What’s the difference between Jaden’s shot and Murray’s shot?
one team is losing and trying to make it seem less close, the other is winning and rubbing it in.
stupid unwritten rule, so glad its not a thing in the comp i play in
Ur tuff
U R toiffer
I’d agree the nuggets shouldn’t care if he had just made an extra bucket as time expired. But with a second left, he’s forcing the nuggets to go down to the opposite end and inbound the ball one more time. It’s a dick move regardless of unwritten rules
Oh no 😢 they have to jog to the other side of the court one more time. Oh my god this is awful.
Quick! Somebody call Ja Rule to make sense out of this disrespect 😭
Those poor athletes!
Jokic obviously didn’t have a problem running to the other side to confront McDaniels
Who cares
Dawg DV did the same thing at the end of game 7 against the Thunder, it’s basketball
To me it seems more of a dick move to sit there and dribble the ball out like “oh we are beating you by 20 you just have to sit there and watch me dribble for a bit because you are already beaten”
Yes it’s “rubbing it in” but also if you are down 20, sprint down the court and score just to get your numbers up or to make sure you only lose by 18? Don’t be suprised if the other team comes down and scores as well
Dribbling keeps the clock running so the game can end. Hitting a shot stops the clock.
Murray only took it cause Jokic wanted his triple double too. Then Jokic went and cried to Jaden.
God I love the Nuggets being bums now
Funny enough someone used this to demo that Jokic has “passion for the NBA and winning” a few comments ago. Jokic fans are a special kind of breed lol.
Ironic coming from a Lakers fan… 😂
Paying Luka, AR, Kessler, & Grimes 80% of your cap with limited future picks 💀
You guys can have 100 picks and still would have 0 championships
Lmao. Always flexing rings on the small market teams when your org is so dogshit the only reason why they’re popular is because it’s LA and even then you gotta hand out player options like candy. The Jazz will be better than the Lakers feel free to save this comment. You got gift wrapped Luka and failed to build a contender he’s definitely walking in 28 and you’ll have no assets 🤣
RemindMe! 223 days
RemindMe! 50 years
If jazz ever gets a ring in my lifetime
So many legacy points deducted for this imo. Greats don’t stat pad then start a fight when the other team takes a shot.
Yeah Jokic looks like an absolute butthurt clown here. If you don’t want them to do this, then don’t be down on the last possession of the game.
He didn’t do that first part. That wasn’t his shot, it was Murray who took that.
Just sayin’
Otherwise I do fully agree with you. Jokic looks lame here.
If Murray hit that shot Jokic would have had a triple double that game (he was on 9 assists at that point), a lot of people think that’s why he took it
Brother you can stat pad assists too
Jokic lookin’ like a real loser on this one
Sore loser
Fake tough
Yeah that was a baseball “brawl” right there
A real, manly, tough hold me back “brawl”
I say this as a big baseball fan btw
He doesn’t run that fast when they’re playing basketball
fastest i’ve ever seen Jokic run
i don’t know, he ran pretty fast into the morris twin he fucked up
We got Jaden McDaniels
I absolutely love NBA rivalries. We need more of this.
Grown men making millions of dollars getting butthurt over perceived slights. Fun
Wolves were missing Ant and at points 4 of their key rotational pieces right? I would summarize the nuggets performance as heartless and right up to soft. That is a symptom of poor leadership.
I’m disappointed because I had the expectation that Jokic would have evolved into more of a traditional leader for the nuggets, but like so many things Jokic does not fit a traditional mold. I know Jeff Green pushed on this issue with Jokic while he was in Denver. Plenty of stories of Jokic leading by example but he’s clearly not very dynamic when guys like Braun are saying they are the vocal leader.
I’m not optimistic based on the Nuggets offseason so far, they’re the only team currently in second apron and the ownership hasn’t paid what they’d owe this year in taxes during their ENTIRE stint’s tax bill. Parts are going on sale in Denver.
That braun contract is going to be looked upon horrible in the future
Isn’t it already viewed as horrible?
It is but I mean even worse considering what potentially could have been
Why didn’t jokic run on defense when the posession started???
I hate that unofficial rule
Not even an unwritten rule if you ask me. The only people who whine about it are sore losers.
We shouldn’t write rules based around what sore losers want.
If you don’t like it, do your job & stop them.
If only he put this much effort into defense
Thousands of redditors trying to find your address as we speak
Why didn’t he run back like that on McDaniels and Ayo 20 other drives and layups?
Jokic is probably my favorite player in the league right now, but this kind of stupid unwritten rule stuff is bullshit and his reaction was stupid. He hit a lazy layup at the end of regulation. Who the fuck cares?
It’s crazy how much damage Jokic did to his legacy that series. I’m sure he’ll come back strong but I’ve never seen him so rattled.
Idk man it’s obviously disrespectful
I think a lot of yall have never really played competitive sports at all
I love Jokic but this was really dumb.
Headline here is absolutely misleading, especially for those who know and respect the game of basketball.
I love seeing the both of them play against each other, real cinema in my eyes
They’re all bad defenders
I thought he was going to eat him
Speaking of Jokic,do we know what was the end result of the Morris brothers thing? Did it end his career and he’s in rehabilitation ? Never really heard or read anything of what happened after he was fined.
That title is rage bait!
Bad defenders
Kyle Anderson trying to shed the Temu Steph Curry label…
“Now why would he do that?” - Malik Beasley
I see two losers. Bad for the NBA.
The lightning is coming
#WHO DOES THAT?!?!?!
Sore loser, and I say that as Jokic fan. That said, I don’t think this “takes away from his legacy” because i’m pretty sure 100% of all-time greats feel the exact same after a loss
One of my favorite playoff moments ever
i still don’t get it, was jokic betting on the score or something? and don’t say “basketball code” because he just lays it in.
I mean it’s a basketball code thing lol unwritten rule that you shouldnt score when the game is basically over
First, it’s a stupid ass unwritten rule because why play basketball if you dont put the ball in the basket, and second the nuggets were clearly trying to score on the other end so they were the ones breaking the rule first if anything
Jokic was just butthurt about losing and wanted to get mad at someone
A lot of sore losers out there these days
He was probably piss that he extended the game for no reason. Just dribble it out and end the game. Everyone was walking to the locker room already. Maybe Jaden had a bet on pt scored for himself.
Yeah that’s partially why it’s an “unwritten rule”
Wolves could have just ended the game and let both teams continue to walk to their exits, instead it forces Denver to take the ball out one last time even though they were already defeated.
Fuck unwritten rules, but this was still kind of a dick move by a known instigator lol
As a fan it was awesome though
Jokic types expletives after getting tbagged.
This jokic dude is so emotional. Needs to get a grip and keep it stoic/professional
Ehh Jokic and McDaniels both acted they should’ve. McDaniels to seal the deal in a fuck toy fashion and Jokic backing up his team. Great series that hurt to see as a big Jokic fan though.
If jokic wanted to back up his team, why didn’t he run back on defense as soon the posession started?
Because the game was already over by that point?
Well then why does he care that the opponent scored? If it was over he would’ve just went to the locker room.
Because the game was already over by that point. Jaden was ensuring that they CAN’T go to the locker room with that move, they now have to inbound the ball.
Are you slow?
That’s because the game was still on lol.
The game is clearly not over until the timer goes 0:00.
If you don’t wanna play the final seconds, don’t blame someone who wants to.
Fuck common courtesy, got it
Sensitive white Europeans always in their feelings
Love the losers online always telling players their lame for getting mad about unwritten rule stuff. Almost like they might know more than us.
This is the stupidest take in the context of this clip.
Redditors don’t understand the frustration of losing. Athletes do which is why there’s an unwritten rule of not rubbing salt into the wound. Running up the score is just rubbing salt in the wound. You do it to us, we’ll do it to you and no one will be happy, hence it’s an unwritten rule to not do it at all
I still reckon he did this with intention of getting some of Minny’s players (mainly Jaden) into trouble for the next game. Joker baited them, he goes over and doesn’t throw any punches or even more than the one soft push.
Down 3-1 (after the end of this game) and getting a dude or two banned from the next game because they came off the bench or threw punches and that series could easily become 3-2 then they could make a come back.
To me it was all performative. And given Jokers savviness with thinking about the game I think I’m closer to right than not. It just didn’t work out for him with Minny beating the crap outta them ahahaha.
edit: was not expecting this to be such a controversial take hahaha
Cool theory but he’s just a sore loser who got caught up in emotion
It’s just we’ve seen Joker pissed before, he goes full bear mode and puts a hold on dudes and gives them the crazy eyes and everything. This wasn’t really like that. Could be though.
He definitely did exactly that. Jaden just grabbed his collar right back and laughed in his face
Like Bron baiting Draymond in 2016 knowing he cant afford another tech. Except the Nuggets were heavily favored and had no reason to even be in that situation with no Ant
Yeah that’s a great example of this kind of thing.
An unnecessary layup completely
So?
