Patrick Beverley celebrates emphatically after the Timberwolves defeat the Clippers in the 2022 Play-In Tournament, securing their first playoff berth in the Anthony Edwards era
š¶WELL YOU CAN TELL EVERYBODY, YEAH YOU CAN TELL EVERYBODYš¶
IāM THE MAN IāM THE MAN IāM THE MAN
YES I AM YES I AM YES I AM
weird that this user posted some bootleg old man talking over the clip instead of the iconic official audio
It’s just not right without the song
Aloe Blacc is a fucking legend.
I need a dollar
He was also a killer in emanon
OH MY GOD Has it been years already since that meme dropped????
LMAOOOOOO that will never not be funny
generational
“That this is your song”Ā
So glad this is the top comment lol
āYOU AINāT NEVER MET A WOLVES FAN QUITE LIKE MEEEEEā Pat Bev turned that into his personal anthem.
Generational clip right here
Are the next five years still his in this generation?
Oh for sure, in Tel Aviv perhaps
Neither of your fanbases will understand the marketplace pain and generational energy released from that berth
The older Warriors fans should know how it feels. They were the laughing stock of the league for most of their existence.
Made beating the first seed Maberixks all the more fun. One of my favorite playoff series of all time lmao
Don’t worry, you’ll go back to the early 90s Warriors once Curry retires. Maybe that feeling will come back?
I donāt think Iāll be as miserable as Mavs fans when they traded Luka away for AD lil bro š
Lol Iām still high on 2015 bro, Iāll be dead before the high of 2022 wears off. What do you have?
The most talked about trade of all time tbf
Wrong side of the trade, but still…
lmao y’all traded Doncic without winning any rings after the Hawks gave him to you
Almost 2 decades as one of the worst teams…..we literally had the worst winning percentage of any professional North American (active) sports team in the big 5 leagues
We had almost a decade of KG playoff teams
And we had the worst record, even with that bouying us up
We made the playoffs when I was a Junior in High school
We next made the playoffs, and I was in my 30s, with 2 kids and had opinions on pensions and the best pain killers for a back
It took multiple years of Ant and WCF appearances to exorcise that particular taint
I don’t think how bad we were, for how long we were, truly registered with folks outside the twin cities.
Oh it registered. People here just generally aren’t old enough to remember it.
Holding babies lol
Not to be obtuse how goofy this probably seemed at the time, but NBA fans who made fun of this didnāt understand the significance of this moment for the Timberwolves. It was almost two straight decades of absolute misery for the fanbase, with a few minor blips of hope that imploded as quickly as they came. This was Antās coming out party. And, to note, it WASNāT insignificant given how well the team has done since this.Ā
I will say, though ā I didnāt mind other fanbases teasing, but I straight up donāt get the Inside the NBA crew for making fun of it. Is this not exactly what the NBA wanted from the Play In games? This was a high energy, underdog victory from a young scrappy superstar in the making, and it immediately cut to Shaq snickering about it. Like, what did you want, then?
People like to use this clip to trash Pat Beverly. Like he was the only one excited after that game. Everybody was hype and enjoying the energy. Other Timberwolves players included.
Ant was literally on the scorers table right next to him too. I was at the game and it was hype as fuck, then I get home and look online and everyone is just clowning on them for no reason lol.
That’s the internet for ya, we hate seeing people having fun and feeling good apparently.
And the fanbase. I still love Bev for that season.Ā
I think it can both be funny and a cool moment. The meme of using to celebrate some minor victory is hilarious, but it was obviously very meaningful for everyone involved, which is what matters.
Everybody but the T Wolves had already given up.
Although, I think it was more that everyone fucking hates Patrick Beverly.
The hill I always die on is that this is the appropriate reaction to moving onto the next round in the playoffs. I hate the current mindset in the NBA that you either make the finals or you are a clowns and don’t deserve to celebrate or be happy. What a sad time for fans.
You win a round or even make the playoffs for that matter, and you have a chance. Enjoy it, celebrate it. Right now it seems to be you are either the favourites to win it all or you should be wanting to lose games so you can get into the lottery. I hate it.
Or that people absolutely trashed Wemby and Pat Bev for crying because they won, but they also will trash Embiid for crying because he lost. Guess you gotta just go
šš
until you win a whole Finals
only person that totally deserves to be dumped on, is jaylen brown for pressing go live and crying about officiating outside the scope of his required media appearances, what a little bitch
It’s even worse than that, a lot of people are trying to damage LeBron’s legacy for getting to the finals as many times as he did without winning, as if being conference champions is somehow worse than getting eliminated in the second round.
There are a lot of things on the internet these days that make me realize how genuinely stupid a lot of people are, and people talking about basketball is definitely one of them
No matter how small, you should always celebrate your victories. Its something I regret not doing more when I was young. The older you get, the farther appart the Victories becomes.
One of the most electric moments (multiple of them!) in recent NHL history was a first round clincher.
I’ll never clown someone for getting excited, that’s pathetic behavior. However I will laugh at memes about it.
They say if you make fun of someone’s smile, you’ll never see them do it again.Ā
Never heard this before, but it’s so true.
We did make it with Jimmy just a couple of years before this. But outside of that…nothing since KG.
Yeah, that was the blip. A gentlemenās sweep followed by an implosion caused by Jimmy.Ā
I was so excited to finally get to go to a playoff game. Unfortunately it was game 4 where the Rockets scored a playoff record setting 50 in the 3rd quarter.
Jeff Teague made the winning lay in I believe
Donāt remind me lol
I feel you on this, I mean look at how my favorite team celebrated just winning the first play in game.
Sure we proceeded to get our asses kicked in the second play in game, but damn if at least winning that first game didnāt mean something.
I swear so many NBA fans don’t want to enjoy player’s expressing themselves. Wemby did the big shot to win the game to send the Spurs in the playoffs and the big talk the next day was why he was so excited and the reaction of that shot is literally the cover of this year’s NBA 2K game.
Pat Bev didn’t give two shits about the Wolves and was cheering for himself.
He was excited because he felt LAC disrespected him when they lowballed him on his contract the previous season and then he got to bounce LAC the next season. They only had money for him when Daddy Kahwi spoke up and Pat felt he shouldn’t have had to.
https://www.tiktok.com/@hoopscat/video/7656478710870199582
Pat Bev certainly had a big ass chip on his shoulder about how things went down with the Clippers.
But, he did a lot to turn the season around for us and turn the franchise’s overall trajectory around and he played his ass off to get us in the playoffs.
This was probably a SEC-style (it just means more) win for him but I don’t remember Pat Bev not being a good teammate and supporter for Ant/Kat while here. He was in KAT’s ear a lot that season.
I’m here for casual SEC bashing.
This is how I remember it as well.
The Cleveland Browns had a better franchise win % than the Wolves at this point.
The Brownsā¦
I get your point here but the Browns are one of just two NFL teams to never have a franchise winning % below .500
Even after these last horrible two decades, theyāre still not in the bottom 10.Ā
Also we are still in last place in the NBA ;) coming for you next season, BrooklynĀ
Yeah the Browns aren’t even below .500 yet. Might be the last year I can say that though.
This was our first time making the playoffs after the Jimmy Butler nonsense, which also felt very significant/cathartic for the fans and more likely than not contributed to the ridicule we got for it, idc though this was easily the most electrifying game Iāve ever been at live
Kings fans get it. I already have the gif primed and ready for when the Kings make the playoffs again in a decade.
Itās very similar to seeing the Lions won their first game in 2021 when they were 0-10-1. Itās not so much about the actual win but the fact that there was a culture change put in place and it finally showed an inkling it was working.
Was at this game, it was sick. Lost to time is also the fact that we were down by like 10 points with 5 minutes left in this game.
Edit: 8 with 8 minutes to go, but it didnāt feel good. Then of all people DLo decided to play well
Reminds me of that meme where the 3rd place guy is popping champagne, making out w the host and completely in his world enjoying his wins. Who gives a shit if people donāt understand your journey
I’ll never actually crap on him for this because I’m a Jets fan and this is how I’d react to winning a Wild Card game before getting blown out by the Ravens in the Divisional.
However, a video of a player celebrating clinching the 7th seed like he won the Finals is always gonna be funny to me.
It’s nuts. I do generally enjoy Inside the NBA as an entertainment product, but holy fuck are they haters
I can’t think of any other league in the world whose flagship media product shits on the game as much as the NBA’s does. Wild
I both enjoyed their passion and also thought it was funny seeing them celebrate it in this fashion.
It is that edit TNT did of them, that did them so dirty. Ending with KAT kissing his GF, it was a straight championship win edit lol. Funny bastards.
Stand up now and face the sun šµ
The clip just doesn’t feel the same anymore without the music.
Whats the clip youre referencing?
Enjoy.
Every time this gets posted, it makes me think of:
Wemby cries during a regular season game in February: Aww, you’re so sweetš„°
Pat Bev cries after his team makes the playoffs: Hello, human resources?!?š³
it’s just a shortened version of this video with the song over it, here
Dude got let go by Tel AvivĀ too lmaoĀ
Next 5 years are his tho
Uzbek 2nd league is about to get DESTROYED
He about to get a ring in Greece with, and I am not joking here, Cedi Osman and Nick Calathes
3rd place at best, they’re not getting past Oly and Pana in the playoffs
Let me remain delusional we haven’t had even a 1% shot in decades
NBA fans love to be miserable I swear. Sports are supposed to be fun and entertaining. More leagues should be like the MLB and shamelessly pop bottles after each step like clinching a playoff berth and winning a series etc.
Considering how miserable Wolves basketball was for decades before, not everyone can be Boston and have endless championships, and across sports at that.
literally the second time they had made the playoffs in 20 years. they deserved to celebrate
It’s a trip how hard this clip gets clowned because folks hate Pat Beverly. Wolves are celebrating with their fans. It should be fine. Steph will dance up and down the court screaming and taking naps because he won a regular season game in November and its aura though.
āTaking napsā kills me :D
NBA fans bar none are the biggest fucking losers. They donāt like or watch basketball and they thrive on hating shit because their lives suck so they do what they can to sink others to make themselves feel better.
most chronically online fanbase
This is why I canāt stand Inside the NBA anymore. All of their āviralā moments are just them making fun of people and negativity. Itās poisoned modern NBA discourse.
Thatās all national media, every time MN gets a star we also have to hear about how they belong in LA or NY.
It’s just that it’s Patrick Beverley, quite honestly, who is an awful person.
[deleted]
You don’t recall him beaming a fan in the head with a basketball just a few seasons ago?
Also, tons of annoying trolling shit talk on podcasts and interviews, acting like he’s about 10x as good as he was, dissing guys like Trey Young, who despite their flaws are miles and miles above him in the NBA.
I have learned that Bev is just a guy that everyone hates until heās on your team.
Nope, I still cant stand him. I will admit that him grabbing the photographer’s camera to show the ref the missed foul call was hilarious, but the day he was traded is top 10 happiest days of my Lakers fandom
Rings culture is the weirdest self-enforced nihilistic depression ever. I can maybe understand it from a player (still not agreeing), but fans subscribing to it for absolutely no reason other than making their leisure time less enjoyable is so baffling.
This game fucking ruled and I feel 0 shame about it. That arena was on fire that night.
I agree with you. It’s like if your team doesn’t win the Chip you can’t celebrate, you have to wait till that happens. And all other 29 franchises are supposed to act like it was a failed year altogether.
The inside the NBA bit where they threw in the “we are the champions” had me in tears lol
When Wemby does it, it’s passion, fire, and love for the game. When anyone else celebrates something other than a championship it’s look at this loser celebrating xyz. Our players celebrated the inaugural NBA Cup and got made fun of so then next year the Bucks didn’t even celebrate it.
This is the only sport where guys get criticized and shamed for celebrating small wins.
This is not the same thing at all lmao. Wemby did this in a bloodbath WCF against the defending champs and reigning mvp. And youāre comparing that to a playin win?
Prior to this playoff birth, they made it to the playoffs once from 2004-2021. So yes, it’s a significant milestone for their franchise. You guys just love to pick and choose when you want to use context to suit your narrative
I love both.
I think this is funny because it’s Patrick Beverly and he did the whole, “These next 5 years are mine.” But I love emotion in victory and defeat.
It’s way better than guys acting unphased while having security remove fans for harassing them.
I want unhinged fans saying crazy shit, I want players jumping up on the scorers table after winning, I want players collapsing in tears after losing, I want entire stadiums silenced by a big shot.
Passion man, the good and the BAD. Trying to take the bad out has removed most of the good.
BirthĀ
If you don’t remember, Wemby also cried after winning a regular season game against the Clippers
Fr tho I’m pretty excited if I make it to the gym 4 days in a week. So it’s kinda hard to fault dudes for celebrating making the NBA playoffs, especially since it’s Ant’s first time.
Wemby did it on a team that has been winning for decades. If you go back to 1997, Spurs have made the NBA finals 7 times. If you go back to 1997, up to and including this play-in tournament win that is the subject of this post, the Timberwolves had made the playoffs 10 times. And the vast majority of those were over a decade before that and the only recent one ended with one of the big stars on the team trashing his teammates and demanding to be traded.
Granted, the players don’t necessarily carry the memories or experiences of the franchise, Wemby wasn’t part of any of those prior 7 runs, but at the same time I think a lot of fans believe that players do feel some of the weight of the franchises they are on even if they didn’t live all of it personally. You can’t tell me players going onto the Timberwolves didn’t know what kind of challenges they were in for being on that team, with that ownership, in that region, with their history. Just like players going to Celtics or Lakers generally end up with superstar players and successful teams, there’s reason to feel more hope being drafted to those franchises than others for example. The same I would argue is true for the Spurs over the last 3 decades. It should be less of a surprise that you have success on a franchise that routinely has success, and more of a surprise to have success on a franchise that routinely doesn’t have success.
I’m not saying Wemby shouldn’t celebrate, but you’re acting like the weight or meaning of one win is substantially greater than the other and therefore one player is justified in his reaction to winning and another player in the other circumstance isn’t and I’m saying that you aren’t really properly accounting for the meaning or the significance of the other win in context.
Beating one of the best defenses of all time in the conference finals vs making it out of the play in
Bro it was just funny
This play in game is not the same as Wemby beating the defending champions and rival to go to the NBA finals
Say all you want but this started a new era of the wolves.
I love how fans clown on people for caring. Bev celebrating is a perfect example.
I guess weād rather watch cool guys like Michael Porter Jr and Tyler Herro that donāt care about the Play-In and would rather post up with N3on on stream.
I donāt disagree but the edit of this video makes me cry laughing every time
Sports culture in general is so toxic like that. Happy about winning? That’s loser shit. Sad about losing? Believe it or not, also loser shit!
Every athlete, amateur or pro, is just expected to grimly march along until they get cut down by someone better. At which point you’re expected to emotionlessly say “ok” and either quit the sport or continue trying to push the boulder up the hill forever, celebrating nothing along the way. It’s quite an existence lol
As much as people clown this (and caring about the play-in in general) this really was the start of a big culture shift in Minnesota after the Butler “they’re all losers” era. I’d rather have vets that teach young players that winning matters than player who just want to collect checks and put up stats on a tanking team. GM and fans I understand supporting tanking even if I dont agree. Players should want to win. Period.
Players absolutely dreaded coming to MN, Pat Bev talks about how people told him that the wolves were a place you went when your career was over. Dālo and him came in and openly talked about how much they were proud to be here instead of moping and blaming the world for their situation. Legit changed the vibe of the fan base after the Butler shit.
Pat Bev is one of my favorite Wolves ever simply because the guy will crawl through glass and fire to win a game.
Dude did some heavy leadership work that season to help Ant and KAT realize what a winning culture and attitude is about.
This is how I see CP3. He came and taught SGA and Dort how to be winner at a time they weren’t supposed to win.
Hate how his career ended but he was one of the funniest players in the last decade
him bringing the camera to the ref on the Lakers is the peak for me
That was the only thing I remember him for. It was perfect since anyone that watched that replay wanted to do that š
Wolves fan here, sat courtside one time in my life, when Pat was still on the clippersā¦. Funniest mf Iāve ever seen. Dudes trash talk had me dyin laughing and he was trash talking MY TEAM.
You don’t know what this meant to me man.
I think making fun of this is hilarious but it was such a sick game to be at as a wolves fan. So many highs and lows. Kat fouls out and my section was starting to leave and the vibe was terrible. Pat Bev coerces Marcus morris into a second tech but it gets rescinded when the refs realize heās going to be ejected. Dālo was balling. Ant goes crazy to seal the game.
Plus this is like 1 year post covid restrictions lifting so life was starting to feel normal again.
KAT stay fouling out šš
I remember in the equivalent of a South America countryās state championship my sophomore year we won in the quarterfinals and celebrated like this. Our coach screamed at us in the locker room for celebrating like we won the championship. Long story short, we lost in the finals by 60 against our biggest rivals
People love to clown him for this, but this was a legit turning point in the Timberwolves franchise.
Normalize actually having fun playing sports
This was huge for the franchise and Beverley himself.
This whole championship or your season was worthless is the reason yall be so miserable.
I don’t get why people make fun of this. They won a big game against his former team. This is the passion you want to see from your players.
This was a culture setting moment for the Wolves, it molded a lot of the personality of that team’s roster.
You can even say that there are two entire different teams divided by a Patrick Beverley, the bad and the good Wolves.
Next 5 years babyyyy!!
Lowkey this was a critical moment for the Twolves. Theyāve been a significantly better team since, with multiple playoff pushes.
Prior to that, they hadnāt done much since the KG era. So yeah, let them enjoy this moment.
People clown on Pat Bev and us Timberwolves fans for celebrating a lot then and having great memories to look back on but guys like him played there part in us being competitive these days. Yeah we didn’t go much further but when you’ve been as awful as we were and him and his teammates put in the work all year I’m sure it was nice to get over the line and acknowledge it with the fans and we even got a good meme out of it because if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry.
Isn’t Pat Bev playing in Tel Aviv now?
No heās too trash for them also
He was suspended by his Israeli team for mocking the coach and parted ways with them soon after. Pat Bev plays for a team in Greece atm
But the next four years…
There was a while where someone in kings subreddit would post the gif of him throwing his shirt in the stands every time the kings won two games in a row or something and it made me laugh every time
As a Wolves fan i absolutely loved it. Enjoyed the PBev era here
Just realizing that ANT jumped on that table too but he never gets any heat for this ⦠these guys were all pumped to win this game
As an mn fan Iāll never take this away from bev. He improved our locker room so much that year and so much of the dog mentality we got came from this year. Loved this moment f the haters
STAND UP NOW AND FACE THE SUN
Man, all this needs is the Aloe Blacc background music.. What a time that was
I love this. Where can I get that at least 70% of this sub aināt as been as happy as Pat Bev was in that moment?
šµ”Stand up now and face the sun” Laugh whenever I come across that tiktok/short clip in the wild.
People made fun of that team for celebrating a play-in win but fucking hell, that’s why those games exist. Celebrate as much as you want
Anyone who roasts the team for celebrating like this doesnāt understand what the vibe was like in the building. We were going wild. KAT, who up to that point was the unquestioned #1 on the team, had been in foul trouble all game and was basically a non-factor and the team felt so deflated, but then DāLo and second-year Ant just went off. really the only good DāLo Wolves moment I can remember.
One of the few videos thatās better with the edited music. Iām a simple man I see this clip I upvote and that will never change
Glad KAT got the real thing
Streetlights over spotlights
He prolly says, āIām tellin my kids this was a clip of tge NBA Finals daddy wonā
Remember when went LAL next season and said something like, I am the only one who went to playoffs last season.
I wanna know who got that jersey. This clip is pretty legendary now lol
People somehow forget he was traded from the clippers⦠probably the reason he was so happy to eliminate them from playoff contention.
The celebration police were handing out citations left, right, and center for this one
I watched this game, it was good and the celebration afterward was great. It was natural and not forced.
The OG Wembeyama
Laugh you want but this was legit of the start of something special. It just wasnāt gonna include Pat Bev lol
Still hate his ass for hurting Westbrook. Fuck pat bev
This was cringe then and itās even worse now.
Bro actin like he on the team
Inside the NBA cutting ‘We are the champions’ and laughing about it was so damn funny https://youtu.be/T4494d3nidw
He can do that to the other 46 teams he played for š
This is one of the main reasons I like the play-in tournament. They would have been celebrating in a random room instead of celebrating on the court
One of the greatest post-Harambe memes of all time š
Pat Bev - “hey Reggie Jackson, you had your time in the league. But the next few years are going to be mine”
āPatrick Beverley, what are you going to do next!?ā
Thanks for giving me my nickname
“they were kissing babies!? god damn” š
I still feel like it’s dumb as fuck that everyone made fun of us for this.
Our championship
You guys donāt know how great this was for us fans. Love Bev forever
We won the chip š
you would think he was Wemby winning the conference final lol!š
Everyone clowned them but shit I say celebrate fuck it
left out the part where heās crying Lmaooo
One elaborate FU as a victory for his new team against his old team…and then a few months later they traded him too…
That moment cemented the play-in as something the NBA will always have now.
Makes sense only a clown like this takes this stupid ass tournament seriously. Him and Redditors
This video will never not be funny bruh lmao
Majestic meme
play in chamion Minnesota Timberwolves.
I watched this game live, genuinely one of the most hype moments of my time watching basketball
This is still so fucking funny ahaha
This shit is still hilarious!!!
I’ve seen this more with the music than without
He deserved this as his legacy.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAURElv36wQ he talks about in a little more detail in a clip. idk this podcast. Clippers didn’t value him and gave him a offer lower than he thought he deserved.
Pure Jawana Man vibes
I was at that game and the atmosphere was better than some playoff games I’ve been to
This was entertaining as fuck, say what you want about Bev in the ET era heās doing his job
https://youtu.be/gmXNcehQI0o?is=Cc_w6Hjm6QZl1S2k
LMAO
Finally some context. Idk why he and Lou loved being Clippers but Bev wanted to retire in LA.
Happy for the dude; also, wasn’t this the T wolves first post season appearance in awhile?
