I keep saying this in every thread about the supermax - NBA needs to change the rule back to what it used to be. Make it harder to get a supermax and limit it to 30%. It’s not effective in keeping true stars in a place they don’t want to be in and it’s severely damaging with the second apron to make guys like Duren eligible for it.

I guess if he took the 4 years he’s a real gentleman just concerned with winning, taking a discount to help his team.

This happens in the NFL all the time. Brock Purdy doesn’t expect to get paid as much as Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes.

I like Maxey a lot. But these contracts for guys who aren’t legitimate MVP candidates are the reason why the second apron is so punishing.

And if another team wants to clear $70m+ in cap space to sign him (which likely means shedding far more than than in salary) … figure out if you have to deal with that then.

Paying top 20 players the contracts that should be reserved for top 5 to 10 players is genuinely going to keep ruining teams from being genuine contenders or staying contenders. This gonna have to be figured out at some point because its getting ridiculous.

Hes a great player on my favorite team. But hes the definition of a super hell no. Not a super max. Hes just like kemba walker at this point.  A maxey led team will have him look like prime kemba at best tbh. He needs to be off the ball as much as possible.  A team with maxey/brown possibly both having super hell no maxes with VJ getting big money is destined to be expensive and clunky for no gains 

With all due respect, hes not half the player peak Embiid was. He doesnt raise the ceiling or floor of a team enough to justify a super max. I dont like donovan mitchell on a super max. Maxey is off ball mitchell. Brown would have to be traded for a primary creator if VJ/Maxey is your “future”. But what is there outside of them. You have a clippers pick and whatever draft picks you havent traded. But can you build a contender around Edgecombe, maxey in hi$ late 20s or early 30s/ brown in his 30s and possibly Embiid in his mid 30s.

He deserves it, by all accounts he’s a really good person, works hard, is a great teammate and genuinely cares. And he can really play.

Ant is a hard worker, great teammate and seems like a good person. Minny gotta pay that man otherwise he’s gone.

By the time his cap hold actually impacts team construction, it won’t be that big a contract and can be built around or traded. Luka’s next extension is like 90 million a year AAV, contracts are exploding so fast we can’t keep track of what a BIG contract is anymore

Maxey is very good. He is not a 25% of your cap player.
