This is how I will choose to remember AD when his career is over
This unironically might be the most iconic moment of his career. Biggest shot he hit en route to his only ring.
His shooting in the bubble was crazy
His shooting that year overall was great. Wasn’t just the bubble.
His 2pt% jumped from 55% in the regular season to 61% in the playoffs and his 3pt% went from 33% to 38% for the 2019-20 season. He was on a heater for the whole bubble
Incredible shot, AD is a Laker for life but honestly that was surprisingly good defense from Jokic, it’s just tough to block a miracle three from a guy as tall as AD
Jokic shouldnt have even been tbe one contesting. Plumber got lost so bad. The fact they gave plumbee run in the bubble was just sad.
He was a sub for this possession which makes it even worse. Asking Plumblord to be running through screens is tough. Ultimately his fault for expecting a switch there tho
I’ve said the same exact thing but opposite
Jokic is a Laker for life??
ad is a laker for death
Considering how many bullshit threes Joker has made on us, we deserve to have at least one against him lol
Yeah hahahahaha
I will stand by my opinion that jokic isnt a bad defender, hes just too important to the nuggets offense that they would rather not have him sit a few more minutes a game here and there being in foul trouble.
Just crazy logic 😂
Every center in the league will have games where they sit out extended minutes because of getting into foul trouble here and there. This includes actually elite rim protectors like wemby. Jokic is slow and has no vertical.
People complain about how often jokic just stands there and doesnt contest, but is it better for him to contest and stop a few more points at the rim, but get into foul trouble, or stay a couple more minutes on the floor.
The end goal is to score more points than your opponents. If a team year after year is all about “surviving the non-jokic” minutes, its in their best interest to not get him taken out of the game early.
We’ve seen him be a better defender in the clutch year after year since hes not in foul trouble, and him being a better defender generally when his offense isnt clicking.
This year he was really bad against the wolves, but hes also just been really bad for his standards since returning from his injury. His overall level of play has been bad, and if the leg isnt 100 percent, it stands to reason his defense will be hit.
You originally said he wasn’t a bad defender. Now you’re giving reasons why physically he is one, and saying because of that it’s ok for him to phone in effort the majority of the time.
You’re trying to rationalize why a player who I assume you’re a big fan of is a liability. Look it’s ok, he doesn’t need to be Duncan or Hakeem. But he damn sure needs to be better than he has been the past two years.
He has good defensive IQ, and is able to be a good help defender with it and provide good defense when he needs to.
We’ve seen him be a better defender in the clutch year after year since hes not in foul trouble
3 more minutes of jokic in a game is frankly more valuable to winning than 3 less minutes of him but 30 mins of good defense. The on-off numbers back it up year after year. No other center in the league comes close to his offensive impact in the league in the current nba.
Look it’s ok, he doesn’t need to be Duncan or Hakeem.
Yeah, never stated he’s anyone like either of them. Just that his reputation as a defender is a lot worse than the actual reality. We see plenty of elite players that are great defenders get easier defensive matchups for the majority of the game so they can invest that energy on the offensive end. The only reason people notice it for jokic is that he’s a center so its harder to just put him on a worse player for the first 3 quarters.
Of course he’s not. If you watch Nuggets or Serbia game instead of clips you see it.
Blown assignment by Plumlee - Davis wasn’t Jokic’s man.
That screen wasnt even almost obstructing Plumlee. Its completely idiotic he stopped defending him and called for the switch. So so dumb
Its not that simple. You dont know what the call was. If Plumlee chases and AD curls, now you have Grant guarding two guys. Not saying youre wrong just saying you dont know what the defensive assignment was.
Jokic was on inbound/defensive rebound. Glad Plums and Grant were gone after that series
Will never forgive Plumlee for that.
For what? He clearly called for the switch from Grant but Grant was tunnel vision on Lebron (smart from Lebron to keep looking at passer to make it look like he was going to receive it).
There was no reason to switch and it clearly wasn’t part of the gameplan. AD isn’t open to take that shot if he just stays on him
There’s no way you switch there with so little contact from the screen. If they did switch, Plumlee would actually be out of position to prevent a Lebron cut.
The crowd being on zoom will never not be hilarious 😂
And this was the start. Ever since, Jokic and Jamal just throwing bomb against AD.
Yep
As amazing as Jokic became, it was Murray who proceeded to snatch our hearts the next few playoff matchups.
This series was so damn entertaining 🥹
I thought AD was about to take over the league after this run. I feel like his peak has become so underrated over time with the ascension of the Jokic/giannis/embiid/luka/sga group. There’s no doubt in my mind he would have been in that mix if his body held up.
I really think the short offseason from 19-20 to 20-21 killed that opportunity for him.
I really liked that 21 suns team but the lakers were destroying them before they got injured
Jokic and I took that personally
Edit: I miss AD so much man
and he took that shit personally
That is some terrible defense by Plumlee. He’s not even really screened, he just runs into Lebron and screens himself for no reason. He had plenty of space to just follow AD to the 3 point line and get a better contest or deny the inbounds.
Kobe
The TNT broadcast call of this always gives me goosebumps
Brian Anderson and Webber were great during the whole playoffs.
I was on the virtual fan board at the far left of the screen (Lakers season ticket holder perk that year) as the shot swished through and got to see it in real time on my laptop. I started screaming and jumping up and down but my wife and kids were in the other room watching on TV and the 7 second delay and were like what the f&ck?!?!? Then they figured it out.
Dislike 👎
The virtual fans on the screen.
Holy shit, the whole Bubble must’ve been such a weird environment to play meaningful basketball.
Still cant believe Cs blew getting to finals that year. Elite hoops across the board idc what anyone says it was fun to watch
We got robbed of an all timer when Luka hit that 3 over Mr. Big Government
especially when these athletes spent… decades playing before crowds in proper stadiums
Why did Mason plumee go double LeBron or something
He was sadly incredible during that run
AD’s career would be viewed so much differently if seasons were typically shorter and he got nice long breaks before the postseason to rest & heal up. It is what it is.
haven’t seen jokic move that fast since ever.
Wish we could see the 4 or 5 plays before this. Jokic absolutely willed us into a lead and it seemed there was no chance we lose. Everything he was throwing up was going in. I knew the series was dead after this.
Best player on that team
It’s a 1a 1b situation and it’s close.
But Lebron did better in the finals series and got the fmvp.
The heat were also the worst team they played
Should have won finals MVP too
You’ll be downvoted by the stans for stating a basic fact
“That right there made me the greatest of all time!”
🤣🤣🤣
ain’t nobody give a hoot about the bubble playoffs .Summer league without fans
AD will never hit a shot like that ever again. I remember when he took this shot I just knew it was gonna miss I couldn’t believe when it actually went in
AD owns Jokic
lol what happened when there was fans and not in a summer league practice game
