Will the Lakers break the LeBron streak of teams he leaves immediately missing the playoffs after making it his last year there?
Historically, every team that LeBron James has left made the playoffs his last year there, and the first year without him, they have all missed the playoffs.
The 2010 Cavs in the 2010 season missed the playoffs after having made it previously in LeBron’s last year.
The Heat also missed the playoffs in the 2015 season after having made The Finals with LeBron the previous year.
The 2019 Cleveland Cavaliers, again, missed the playoffs after being in the NBA Finals the previous year.
The Lakers seem like a pretty easy bet to make the playoffs this year, thus ending the streak. However, it’s not entirely impossible. I think 95% of people expect the Lakers to make the playoffs, but do you think it’s a lock?
