The Cavs were 27th in the league in road attendance in 2003, the year before LeBron. In LeBron’s rookie year, the Cavs jumped to second in the league. They stayed top 3 until LeBron left.

When LeBron went to Miami, the Heat became the top road attendance team and the Cavs dropped to 30th. When LeBron returned to the Cavs in 2015, they led the league in road attendance.

The Lakers led the league in the Shaq/Kobe years, dropped to 2nd/3rd after Shaq left, and returned to 1st when Gasol came and they won back to back.

When Kobe tore his achilles and missed nearly all of 2014, the Lakers were still 4th in the league in road attendance. In 2017 and 2018, the years between Kobe’s retirement and LeBron’s arrival, the Lakers were top 5 in road attendance both years.

This is just not true. At the end of the day, Kobe had a different goal with basketball than Lebron. At the core of his hard work and mamba mentality was to put on a show for the fans. One of the biggest reasons he’d play through injuries is because he knew how much people would sacrifice just to come see him. For better or worse, Lebron puts himself above those things.
