Caleb Martin is going to get traded, dumped, stretched/waived, or whatever, he won’t be a factor on the team at all next year. If we trade PJ too then the wing/forwards room makes perfect sense.

But if the wing/forward room stays this way past the trade deadline then yeah it’s weird. If they trade surplus players at the deadline then they can get more value out of them from forward needy teams, which is what they could be going for. The team’s not going to be ready to compete this year anyway so I don’t doubt Masai will hold onto PJ Washington until they get a good offer.

A bunch of quality front court players on long-term reasonable deals that they can dangle during the season and trade deadline.

I mean it’s doesn’t kick in till next season and will basically be for the full MLE amount. That feels very reasonable for a legit 6th man who does everything well outside of three point shooting - he defends, can handle the ball a bit and attack off the dribble, is great at attacking the paint and is a solid passing wing. Plus he’s an excellent locker room guy.

They basically signed him for the same percentage of the cap they did a few years ago and he outperformed that deal.

He was the second best scorer on the team last year.
