As someone who has watched Stockton probably way less than you I do kind of agree on the passing. Watching that Jazz offense it’s a lot more post entry passes and just hitting guys coming off their flex actions rather than Stockton diming up Malone with great pick and roll passes over and over. Even taking Chris Paul it feels like we are working with two different types of passers.
Anyway, I know you said you didn’t want to hear arguments on Stockton, but I’d be curious on your thoughts since you watched him a lot more.
Entry passes into the post are obviously a huge part of the game, and I think the main reason that the greats are the greats is because they have the fundamentals mastered so much that the rest of the game opens up. Stockton was a super dependable shooter who was rock steady constantly. Admittedly my memory doesn’t recall much about Stockton as much more than a steady point guard who made his shots and didn’t turn the ball over. Almost like Steve Nash but without the flashy ball-on-a-string handle and a less remarkable touch around the basket.
I’m a Blazers fan, and I remember thinking that our guy Terry Porter was better than Stockton when I was a kid, which may have held true at the time with regards to scoring and clutch shooting, but I respect Stocktons’s stature and legacy in the league, and especially the anecdotes from the younger cats coming into the league getting cooked by him.

Dwyane Wade is a perfect axis by which to judge Luka IMO. Wade is one of the best players in modern times, and has almost any accolade you can imagine short of an MVP. He carried his team to a title one year, and was simply marvelous in his career. Very decorated! And entertaining to the end!
