Why so many off-season stalemates right now?
LeBron’s decision was said to be the first big domino to fall but we’ve known for over a week now where he’s going. What are Duren, Kuminga, Watson waiting for? A magical max offer to come out of nowhere?
Some teams are also waiting for the Kawhi verdict
Supply and demand says the players could be waiting for the kawhi verdict too
It was all fake media nonsense to say others are being held up by Lebron
I don’t think so. As corroborated by there haven been a spike in reported talks between teams and a lot of these players, besides essentially all the reportedly newly interested teams were known contenders for him that held the cap space and the position open for him until now.
What other players were waiting for LeBron besides KCP?
You ever play chicken?
I think there might be a cooling effect of salaries of mid to good level NBA players as teams try hard to avoid the aprons, and players are playing chicken.
Because both parties haven’t reached agreements and neither is willing to budge at this stage.
Players are looking to leverage other suitors as leverage for more desirable deals, while teams are waiting and seeing if these players receive real offers elsewhere. If the player doesn’t receive any offers then the teams can basically force the players to accept the more team friendly deals due to their lack of demand elsewhere.
They’re waiting to see if someone’s else call the bluff
Kuninga will go to the lakers within the next 36 hours
Why do you say that?
Fischer said he doesn’t think a decision is happening anytime soon
I got a feeling. Educated guess
Based on what exactly? I’m not trying to be rude, but just wondering.
Trust him bro
Trust me bro
Fir example the report that we offered a 3 year 45 million contract. Saw another report saying it would be done on Sunday. Etc
Wasn’t the report about it being done by sunday by some random twitter user though? Or did you see this from a legit source.
Honestly don’t remember who it was from so you are probably right. I just got a feeling it is happening
Restricted free agency is a mess right now, because so few teams have cap space. RFAs like Duren have no leverage, they need a team to volunteer their cap space even though they know Detroit will match.
Cause all them motherfuckers are trash. It’d take me hella long to decide to eat either a raw onion, moldy cheese, or a rotten apple.
I mean, raw onion is obviously the play there? The other two are straight health hazards, a raw onion just has a strong taste.
I want to know which player is currently the moldy cheese
Some guys need the market to slap them in the face. Kuminga and Duren probably think they are worth more, and willing to ride it out. I mean training camp isn’t for a long while, so why not wait?
I mean it happens every year, people just forget. Not everyone immediately signs in free agency and there area always ones that take a while. Duren is probably the most interesting because you wouldn’t think an All-NBA player would take this long to get worked out but here we are.
Teams realized letting a restricted free agent walk is almost always worse than overpaying them some or doing a sign and trade so now RFAs are in an even worse negotiating position than they were 5+ years ago
Nobody has answered it yet, it’s because of the 2nd apron. Teams have finally started to slow down their spending as cap space has gotten so valuable. Cap sheets are getting cleaned up across the board. Players and agents are trying to fight back against that trend, basically arguing these guys are so skilled you kinda have to pay them. Jalen Duren would’ve gotten the max if it was 2022 which leads to him thinking he deserves the max now. The teams aren’t budging so far
