LeBron as a high school freshman being interviewed: “I want to be a role model. When I get older, I want little kids to look up to me…Be who I am, be friends with everybody, and just help people who need help.”
Mission accomplished
Zero scandals in 20+years under the biggest spotlight.
His biggest screw up was the Decision, and that raised 6 million in revenue for charity. Which everyone conveniently ignores.
I gotta raise you Hong Kong… thats anybody who’s anybody though, so it’s forgiven mostly, but still his biggest moment of complicity to the system in which he’s been outspoken at times in his career.
I can at least understand why he did it though. Commenting against china wouldnt just affect him but everyone in the league. Sure the top end stars would be fine, but the bottom end bench guys fighting to stay in the league that hasnt secured the bag yet would get fucked.
He was also in China playing exibition games when Morey tweeted that. Supposedly, it made things pretty tense for everyone over there.
Excusing things like this is the reason why no change ever happens in this world.
We’ve become so apathetic and scared of speaking out due to the consequences that we’d rather understand silence.
It’s pure cowardice and he should be shamed for that shit because it’s hypocrisy
I fully agree, I just had to point it out and why I mentioned it’s mostly forgiven. There’s nothing he could have done to impact that situation in a positive manner in hindsight to it all.
This is a really good pt I never thought about
How noble of him
He also wanted to promote space jam. If he said anything to support Hk, his movie would get banned in China
I’ve heard nothing but good things about Israel
I see Israel in my dreams
Thats fair. I forgot about that. That was a bummer time.
As he left his hometown on public television?
1 scandal, the whole handling of the Hong Kong protests and calling them misinformed, other than that, suprising stellar
If that’s your rapsheet you’ve an A job
Idk if supporting a brutal dictatorship that actively suppresses and kills its own citizens is an ‘A job’. But also this is Reddit in 2026 and China is good now.
Same thing happens in the states too and just basically ignored. Black people and minorities have been systemically fucked over for generations on purpose.
God Bless America
Newsflash every country is fucking shit
Because no one gives a shit lol. It’s just performative complaints and criticism. Half the population couldn’t point out hong kong on a map. Same with Ughyrs lol. 90% of people don’t even know where Xinjiang is without googling it. The moment Europe and other areas started getting too many Muslims they quieted down
It’s terrible for sure but a lot of people are guilty of being complicit or supporting brutal government regimes
Idk if supporting a brutal dictatorship that actively suppresses and kills its own citizens is an ‘A job’
Have you been paying attention to our own country the past 2 years?
America has more prisoners than China despite having a fraction of the population. American cops kill citizens on the regular, at a rate higher than every other developed country.
China does have amazing PR right now, mostly propped up by an inept and cruel US govt and how shitty capitalism is doing average americans rn
I have never, not once, read seen to interacted with someone that cares the people of Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau that says this.
Although you did not do it here, this goes doubly so when used to dismiss LeBron’s attempted activism in Black communities.
Meanwhile go look up what happened to the major Ferguson protest organizers
with lebron glazers all common sense is out the window dont waste your time with them
He didn’t call the protestors misinformed. He said morey was, and he clarified that his timing was bad because it could affect the players that were in China at the time.
Yeah affect them financially
That was part of it, absolutely. They were also worried about their safety.
That is also subjective. Political stance doesn’t really rise to scandal.
I agree it wasn’t really a scandal but it was pretty shitty of LeBron to say Morey was misinformed when he’s taken some pretty public stances on social issues himself.
Israel comment ain’t great but we are nitpicking
Yes and he’s talented but still works his ass off. He’s the best role model anyone could have asked for
He literally said no parties like diddy party. It’s clear stuff has been buried
Maybe LeDocumentary unveils some wild scandals like Broony not his real kid or some shit 🤣
Well yeah, hard to have a scandal when the people you hang out with have to sign NDA’s lol
Because NDAs famously stop every other celebrity scandal.
And let’s not forget what he did to that Memphis hotel.
Idt this is a scandal but LeBron is still suspicious considering he said ain’t no party like a diddy party to diddy which is crazy considering everything we know about these parties
That’s literally a red flag. The one who present a perfect image are the ones who are hiding something.
Who cares?
He’s beefing with Drake and Drake exposed his affair.
Alleged* affair and it’s more Drake trying to beef with him but nobody really gives a shit.
Drake is damn near 40 and stirring shit up with celebrities/rappers on his album. Love his old stuff but dude gotta grow up with that dissing to people that never pay him no mind
I think he absolutely meant this and I bet still thinks the same. Dude isn’t Ghandi or anything but he’s been a great ambassador as the face of the NBA.
LeMission Possible
And by most accounts, as a father too
David Stern literally could not have hoped for a better player he could push as the face of the league both on and off the court.
He didn’t hope.
LeBron was carefully groomed from a very young age. Kendrick Perkins played on the same AAU team as LeBron once and said how he was going to media training even at that age.
It doesn’t take away anything from LeBron’s talent or hard work or dedication but is also a testament to his greatness that he far exceeded those expectations that those people put on him at that young of an age.
Kendrick Perkins the most trustworthy source
I am 100% dead serious when i say I think there is at least a 50% chance that lebron is a genetically modified human being and in turn, has no father.
I am dead serious. I believe lebron was grown in a test tube and then artificially implanted into gloria james and carried to term. no human being should possess his combination of size, strength and athleticism. AND to book it all out, he’s very intelligent too. (besides the decision) remember how much poise he had just coming into the league at 18 years old? it’s un-natural. how often have TV analysts described him as a “freak of nature” …..maybe it’s truer than we know.
I am serious. we all know (and I swear I am not saying this to be insulting or mean) that lebron’s mom was a crack whore (is drug addicted prostitute better?) it’s just a fact, it happened. I am NOT saying this to be mean, in fact I am a heroin addict and know a few woman who have sold themselves for dope, it happens. they are not bad people.
and the government has a history of using prostitutes and impoverished people in “experiments.” read about MK-ULTRA. it happened. the CIA used to have prostitutes slip LSD to johns and then the agents would watch what happened thru 2-way mirrors. the government helped start and continue the crack epidemic of the 80s.
I believe that lebron was a precursor experiment to create super soldiers. something where they were just like “well let’s test it out on some poor people that no one will notice and see if we can get any results before we sink more billions into this.” it’s not all that crazy. you don’t think the government has interest in creating genetically modified super human soldiers? we know for a FACT it does. it’s been documented. you don’t think russia or china has interest in such a thing? you know they do. and anything russia or china is or would be doing we are doing. to do it first and do it better.
he’s some kind of experiment that they just monitored from a distance and let keep growing. and i mean this was probably initially started with just a few people who believed it could be done and that’s why it started small and covert using regular civilians. until they could show the results to the higher ups and say “look at this, you don’t wanna fund this on a larger scale?”
and where else would such a person end up besides in a professional sports league?
I think there is probably some secret base(s) out there that are now filled with people like lebron, younger than him probably. if they couldn’t see how well the experiment worked until he was about 16-18 years old (he was pretty much a full grown man at 16 and could have came off the bench for any NBA team if not started) than maybe there are a bunch of 9-15 year old super humans like lebron (not copies of him but given the same genetic boost that he was) eating chow in some secret barracks right now…..
until someone comes forth and the DNA test shows him to be his father (and a bunch have come forward and been shown not to be) than I will believe this is AT LEAST possible..
edit: something I’d like to add in case someone says “well if this is true why wouldn’t lebron’s mom come forward and admit it, just say I participated in a government experiment and lebron was the result.” well she doesn’t know. it’s simple, she goes to a hotel with a john, he slips something in a drink and she gets knocked out-cold. they take her and do whatever they did. give her some amnesiacs or anesthesia (probably benzos too) so when she wakes up she’s in a haze and doesn’t remember anything. not even the john. she finds out she’s pregnant later and just assumes she got knocked up by any random john. has lebron. shit even if she participated willingly, got paid, and knows everything, no one would believe her crazy ass.
This has to be a copy pasta lmao
Jerked too close to the sun
it is
Thank god
Yeah this one’s in the annals of pasta
Definitely in the Hall of Grain
Sry for bad enlgish
Before I begin my actual comment, I would like to apologize in advance for my inadequate level of English proficiency. I am not a native speaker of the world’s current lingua franca which unfortunately leads to me making numerous embarrassing mistakes being made whenever I attempt to communicate using this language. Whenever I am reminded of how I lack the ability to convey my thoughts in an eloquent manner, I feel as though I have committed a cardinal sin, as though every English teacher in the world is simultaneously shaking their head and sighing due to how utterly disappointed they are at me.
Although I know that saying sorry to those of you who are reading my comment will not change the fact that I fail miserably to write and speak perfect English, I am writing this as a way to deter a certain type of people who cannot stand poor English (Also known informally as Grammar Nazis) from mocking me by posting unwanted and unnecessary comments detailing my every blunder. In my humble opinion, making grammatical errors should be perfectly acceptable as native speakers should not expect non-native speakers to be able to communicate in their second or third languages eloquently. If you are able to completely understand what the other person wrote, is there really a problem with what they’ve written? No, because the entire concept of communication is the exchange of information between other intelligent beings, which means that no matter how the exchange of information is made, as long as the information is accurately shared there is not a fundamental issue with their ability to communicate. To see it in another way, remember that someone who isn’t fluent in English is fluent in another language. When you think about it this way, isn’t it impressive for someone to speak a second language in any capacity? Having empathy and respect are qualities that are sorely missing for far too many people these days, especially on the internet.
That being said, I am aware that not all netizens who correct others are doing it to ridicule and shame. There are some who do so with the intent to help others improve and grow. However, displaying the failures of other people publicly will cause the person who is criticized to feel negative emotions such as shame and sadness due to the fact that their mistake has been made obvious which severely undermines the point they were trying to make in spite of their unfamiliarity with the English language. In most circumstances people are not looking for language help when they post anything online. Most people just want to enjoy themselves and have a good time on the internet which is why I would not encourage correcting other people regardless of your intentions. If you really do want to help others with their spelling or grammar, I would highly recommend you to help via messaging privately because not only will you not embarrass anyone, you can also go more in-depth with your explanation which I’m sure the other person will greatly appreciate if they want help, but I digress. I know that I’ve written a bit of an essay, but I hope I’ve made my points clear.
there it is
Can’t believe I read most of that. Tf
This is the best thing I’ve read all year
Can’t believe you wrote that much bullshit. 🤣
Tons of players have his size, strength, and athleticism. They just lack his dedication, work ethic, and basketball IQ. The one “genetic freak” thing about him has been his durability and longevity.
Lebron James has a dad. He’s just a deadbeat somewhere, if even still alive.
it’s pasta bro
🤦🏾♂️
By the CIA perhaps? 🤔
(Just asking questions here. Do your own research.)
Bruh it’s not even funny to joke like this anymore. Too many mouth breathers out there are starting to literally believe in this shit lol
I went to the Park Last week just to play some Games and in the first convo a Dude i casually knew through playing told me that If the Sixers win it this year its clear that LeBeon performs dark Rituals and that he sacrificed Kobe.
Fuck this shitty Post COVID brainrot.
Lespionage
LeInsideMan
I don’t think so
NBA is rich and influential enough to fund and operate a LeBron experiment on its own
That probably happens to a lot of young players and then they never grow past 5’9. We just never hear about the kids who flame out or don’t have the physical ability.
True A multi-billion dollar corporation will be smart enough to not put all their eggs in one basket
It is difficult to overstate the hype around LeBron while in high school. And he has managed to exceed all expectations beyond anything remotely considered possible.
Its really incredible to actually imagine before social media how famous he was in High School. The hype wasnt overrated but it was definitely loud. To be on the cover of Sports Illustrated as a Junior in High School was just unheard of for anyone at that level. It’s crazy to think back how this all started in Akron, Ohio and how much popularity, fame, media attention, and endorsements were going on. Landing a shoe deal and packing out arenas before playing professionally. I dont know if anyone has come close to that yet as a High School athlete?
And imagine the pressure on that young kid from Akron. The fact everything played out the way it did is so surreal. I don’t think we will see something like that again in our lifetime.
He had a mid season high school game televised on ESPN, I remember thinking how wild that was at the time
I mean wasn’t it vs oak Hill? That’s peak fucking cinema my dude, they were the established powerhouse team going against scrappy bron and the super friends
Basketball players? None.
But Messi was also very hyped already at that age.
Only three athletes I’ve ever seen in my life hyped as GOAT potential before they were even 18 who actually got to that level are LeBron, Messi, and Nadal.
Yah i forgot how much attention young nadal got. federer too. maybe i wasnt as plugged in but feel like djoker kind of came from nowhere comparatively.
Djoker was a late bloomer for sure. Fed as a teenager was lauded as well, but not as much as Nadal
Only real scandal was the Hummer and that was stupid how it was covered.
I think one of his games from his senior year is the only high school basketball game ever shown on ESPNs main channel.
some of the worst people you could ever meet then decided this would be a kid they would hate passionately for the next 20+ years.
Skip rubbing his hands behind a tree
Not only the goat of basketball but the goat of role models in sports
Agreed. Significantly better than mj or Brady. Brady a bit better than mj but LeBron shows up for family and community better.
I don’t think Brady really heard a lot of criticism off the field, but it was a meme around him that he abandoned his family and chose football over them. LeBron incorporated his family into his career. Say what you will from a sports perspective about the whole Bronny thing being pure nepotism, but that’s a pretty awesome thing for a father and son.
The only other GOAT level athletes that don’t have any scandals are Messi, Federer, and Nadal.
Messi and Nadal are also the only two other athletes I can think of in my life who were hyped as potential all time greats as teenagers and delivered
Tiger is the other one
Oh true, great mention. I wasn’t really into golf then so it slipped past me.
It’s crazy living in California and playing the game now, you’ll go to courses and see that the course record was set by a teenage Tiger Woods. Just madness
I’m not a tennis guy but every story Ive heard about federer makes him sound like a fantastic person
As a Jordan stan… Lebron is a damn great role model off the court.
That dude should commended more for how hes carried himself.
I wanna be married and have 100 kids so I can have 100 friends, and no one can say no to being my friend.
Peak reference
Damn, I actually got that reference.
Honestly can’t think of very many reasons to dislike Lebron at this point. He’s been impactful on a local stage, a regional stage, a national stage, and even globally. I hope there’s no dark skeletons in his closet, but genuinely seems like a decent person.
I’m from Akron and it’s crazy how many local people irrationally despise him. Literally call him a piece of shit. It’s crazy because he contributed so much to the city. Never budged on his love for Akron. He was literally destitute. A lifelong borderline perfect career. Oh wow the decision. Oh wow he’s kind of a hypocrite and maybe shit himself in the foot with social media nonsense. It’s just sad people have such a grudge against him. He’s one of the greatest things to happen to the NBA and he’s just a kid from Akron dude give him his roses
I’m from Cleveland and the people here LOVE him!!
Bro only started playing sports at 9? I’m assuming organized right?
No. 9 is the age they let him out of the hyperbaric chamber.
100%. He definitely was throwing around the football and shooting hoops with kids around the neighborhood or at like a boys and girls club
wayyy better than john stockton
I’m far from a LeBron fan but damn I respect the fact that he lived up to all the hype and then some. Most hyped players end up being busts, LeBron walked and talked it
I’ll never understand the hate this dude gets.
People dont like black dudes shining. People dress it up but they hate to see him constantly winning at life.
LeRole Model
Shining Leght on a hill
Teammates with everybody
He was in high school before Maxey was born, lol
Damn this mf really accomplished everything he set out to do
You’ll believe a man can jam.
Today’s NBA potentials can’t even say 3 sentences, why try, you know you will get paid, Arenas told you, lol
LEBRON IS MY NINJA WAY
Dattebayo
How can you not love LeBron ?
Easily

One of them paved the way, the other while openly saying he wasn’t following in the footsteps made space jam 2
LeBron to Utah Jazz confirmed
Bro I can’t imagine the pressure, he has such a strong head lol
This dude had all the pressure in the world and had no scandals. Lived up to and exceeded that pressure to win.
The only thing people have to gripe at is the way he switched teams. Most people would have never lived up to that type of hype, and I don’t think anyone ever will again.
It’s fair to call the quote ego‑driven or self‑centered; he’s explicitly positioning himself as the model to copy. But lots of high‑level athletes talk in similar terms, and for many it’s about identity and ambition.
For a young athlete, “I want kids to be who I am” plus constant admiration and status can feed into:
A grandiose sense of self-importance and superiority if adults, media, and fans reinforce the idea that they’re special and above others.
Expectation of praise and special treatment as normal, which is central to narcissistic traits in competitive contexts.
Identity built almost entirely on being idolized, making criticism or normal setbacks feel like threats.
Freshman LeBron would be so proud of current LeBron. He did it.
No comment necessary but I know that’s hard for narcissists
This guy looked 30 in high school
LeBron can cure cancer and he’d still have detractors.
Morality chasing
Over achieved on that one.
Steph just HAD to hit a shimmy after…
As a kid, I idolized LeBron James because of what he did on the court, but as an adult, I idolize Kyrie Irving for his willingness to speak up about issues that wouldn’t benefit his playing career.
Some things are bigger than basketball, and I prefer my idols to do well off the court.
“A friend to all is a friend to none”
Edit: I will always say this is the dumbest sub on Reddit and it’s not even close. Downvoting an Aristotle quote shows how fucking idiotic y’all are. Downvotes on this sub are as good as upvotes anywhere else
Ok, I downvoted you
You said that downvotes are as good as upvotes…
I agree they are on this sub… A downvote from a moron like you is a compliment
