The biggest thing I was getting at is that Lakers couldn’t hold a lead with the bench in the 4th, which caused Luka to have to play more minutes than he should have, on paper they have improved the bench to the point where Luka and Austin shouldn’t be ran into the ground
Kessler hasn’t played meaningful basketball in his entire career. The Marcus Smart and LeBron departures are massive as well

The history is that he had a shoulder injury in college. He tried to strengthen the area around it and play through it for years. A doctor later told him it’ll never go away without surgery. The Jazz were tanking, so they decided to have the surgery on that shoulder last season.

Phillys too 5 is incredible on offense but leaves major questions on defense specifically transistion defense, I would not be surprised if early in the season there are calls to trade embiid for a run and gun center that only plays defense to shore up that need. Plus their bench is probably the worst of any championship hopeful by a large margin. Rayan Rupert may see actual minutes this season.
After that you have Denver who will be weaker because he will make a move to get below the second apron, it actually might. R beneficial for them to have Peyton sign the QO because then they won’t do the most obvious cut ever. Raptors are a real threat if Silver has bags of jello in his sack instead of balls and fails to properly punish kawhi, Celshits should never be counted out but they are solid tier 2, minny is more well rounded and can be a dark horse tier 1, but I’ll wait and see on the lamelo fit, etc.
I don’t think saying we are tier two is really much of a knock considering the talent at the top. We have one of the deeper teams outside of the top 3 I mentioned and wolves, both Austin Reaves and Luka were far more responsible for our 50 game season than lebron was last year, people now conveniently forget that he had sciatica that kept him out for a large part of the early season, and integrating him back in was a process that saw us lose games in the meantime, and we now hopefully shored up our one major weakness in rim defense last year. I actually expect the lakers to way overperform expectations in the regular season given that we I’ll likely have a top 5 offense that can lose a Luka or Reaves for a couple of games and still keep humming, but the playoffs is where we will be exposed unless we find a proper backup c and starting 3 and d wing(or adou breaks the fuck out and does that the way he did in summer league).
Simons, KCP, Wade, Barlow, Bona. This is not an awful bench, though it could use a point of attack guard. Ryan Rupert doesn’t need to see minutes lol

so you have to look at this roster assuming the big 3 will miss a minimum of 15 games.
what would a Colin sexton led team do in those 15 games? 3-12? that means they’d need to go 47-20 just to win 50 games. again, that’s with only 15 games missed.
sportsbooks have set their win total to 45 games which is right around the play-in. this is a borderline play-in/6th seed team. and if they end up missing 20-30 games then say good night.
