What i like about Carlisle is that they might not get along on a personal level, but basketball-wise he’s always talked extremely high about Luka. That talks about Rick’s professionalism.

As a neutral fan I was so bummed when Nico blew up the Mavs because i feel like they really built a team around lukas strenghts. I know they have a lot of issues with health but that squad would be able to challenge the current Thunder and Spurs. Now instead we have the lakers who I fear arw just gonna be pretty mid. Cant tank and dont have lots of assets to bring in good players. I fear lukas talents will be wasted

Luka is one of one. No one is like Luka. Magic could not score or shoot like Luka does.

Besides managing the egos, it most be fascinating to be a head coach for any kind of professional sports team. You get to see/develop the elite of elite talent but still have to find a way to make all those pieces work to be successful

Kind of crazy that Rick just left Luka. I assume he was about to, or close to, getting fired. But with Carlisle’s pedigree and Luka being at the top of his ability, that decision still confuses me. Probably had to do with Carlisle’s thoughts on Luka between the ears if I had to guess.

“I defy you to figure out a way to beat him?” Hunt him on defense play after play after play. It’s already been done. That’s the successful playbook. 

The idea of Luka is the best in the world

LOL that’s sweet of Rick, but Magic won a title in his first year by playing Center in the NBA Finals and otherwise empowering his teammates through selfless play. Then he won 3 more rings by the time he was Luka’s age, not to mention the NCAA chip.

Luka’s never won anything in the Western Hemisphere b/c gets hunted defensively every single series he’s in, and he reduces his teammates to spectactors. No one has ever described Luka as orchestrating “Showtime”. He’s very easy to figure out how to beat, which is why he’s had very little playoff success despite playing with All NBA players next to him every year of his career.

I just can’t watch Luka play defense then call him a killer competitor.

The dude spends half the game whining and complaining to the refs. He doesn’t even run back on defense half the time.

Insanely talented? Yes. Killer competitor? No.

He’s way better than Magic. It’s not really even close

Looking at his behavior on court and grberal development lately, no he ain’t that smart.

Many of you claim Mavs had the right people around him, and they got spanked in the finals. Luka is an insane talent, but never going to win a championship in the NBA.
