Lebron showing off his acting chops in Trainwreck (2015)
To be honest, I don’t think he act in this scene, that’s real Bron lol
He didnt even know they were filming.
He uses Spotify with ads and streameast, checks out.
Pandora with ads too, and doesn’t use headphones in the locker room despite being sponsored by Beats 😂
“arent you the Beats guy?” 🤣🤣
They said he wouldn’t use his phone until he hooked up to the wifi at whatever arena he’s at.
And will be taking a helicopter to work everyday this upcoming season. He’s just like us
After what happened to Kobe I have no idea why he would. You couldn’t pay me to ride in a helicopter let alone daily commute.
Lebron was definitely banned from Xbox Live after he modded his 360 to play pirated games.
They added his cheapness because they saw how cheap he was on set.
Hader’s gone hate
To be honest, In my opinion, you might be right.
Hes playing lebron james… Of course he’s gonna act like himself
I don’t know how long this could last is a hilarious line today considering we are in 2026 and it’s still lasting.
It was funny then given he’d been in the league earning top dollar for 10 years…now it’s even funnier
He also has had stories told about him where he’s weirdly cheap about things. Like he had Spotify with ads.
Even worse. It was Pandora.
He was so cheap he wouldn’t pay to watch the NBA, using Stream East instead. Even though he, in a roundabout way, would be partially paying himself by paying to watch the games.
I’ve never understood why ppl find it charming when ridiculously wealthy ppl talk about how frugal they are, because it doesn’t really mean anything. Gronk didn’t spend any of his NFL money because he didn’t have to. He was already making millions off endorsements.
Lebron is flying by helicopter from NY to Philly. If he were really cheap, he’d just live in Philly.
People get caught up in these silly anecdotes because they are endearing and makes them relatable. LeBron James obviously spends a shit ton of money on luxuries we can’t even come to understand but I guess that’s not as interesting or memorable as “Wealthy guy was cheap this one time”
Using streameast isn’t necessarily cheap imo. Illegal streams are just easier than trying to pay to watch NBA games.
Speculation that he is flying to Philly
Humans are frugal and extravagant about different things. His scales is just massive between what he’s frugal about and what he splurges on. Is it charming? Not really to me. I just find it funny and I think most other people that point it out just find it funny.
After Kobe, I’m surprised he’s going to commute daily by helicopter. Those things are dangerous.
Exactly
Wait you think HE gonna be paying the heli bills?
Yea he’s only making 3.9 mill…it’s gonna Josh Harris who’s footing that bill 👍🏼😂
Another Pablo Torre investigation 😅
I think that one is more cause Stream east I’d more reliable than league pass, I think all members of the players union get league pass.
Data plans were different at the time but back when he was in Miami I think Wade mentioned he only used his phone on WiFi and didn’t use his data either
You guys don’t understand, we’ve cultivated these Pandora stations for decades at this point, and it’s a 15s ad every 5 songs. It legit doesn’t make sense to pay for it. I’m with Bron on this one.
Wasn’t he caught using a piracy site or smth to stream games lmao
Stream East!
didnt want to use mobile data on his yacht.
I know he grew up poor like I did. Didn’t have two nickels to rub together. I’ve always been weirdly cheap about certain stuff too. I think you get so used to not being able to buy different types of things that even when you can sometimes that programming kicks in and says not to.
He knew in 2026 he’d be taking a pay cut. That’s why he’s wasn’t going to pay for Bill Hader’s meal 10 years ago.
LeFortuneTeller
I would of thought after all this time the LeMeme would get old, it hasn’t lol
Well he is right. He is only earning $4M a year. He is gonna go broke soon. This fuckery wont last that long!
Well taxes and all the ancillary payments to Rich Paul. Maybe 1.4 M. That’s 35 nights out in Miami.
At some point it’s just a number to a billionaire. He probably hasn’t seen a bank statement in years. He couldn’t even spend whatever liquid cash he has let alone his investments.
The fuckery just won’t stop
Just watched this movie for the first time.
I was surprised how many times LeBron was in it. I was expecting just a cameo.
Solid movie overall…I recommend it.
John Cena also had a small part in this movie but it was so well-received that he decided to start an acting career.
His part was absolutely hilarious. Dudes got comedic chops. Coming into his dramatic skills too.
I thought Ricky Stanicky was hilarious.
I will die on the hill that Ricky Stanicky is John Cena’s magnum opus and he deserves so much more recognition for how hard he goes in that movie. Just so fucking funny.
The movie is just pure slop without him. The premise is so fucking stupid, and 2 of the 3 leads (you could argue all 3), are fairly unlikeable characters. But GOD DAMN Cena sells it.
I’m still pretty sure it’s Peacemaker. He absolutely makes the character work by somehow being both antiheroic and pathetic at the same time.
That show is fucking fantastic. I even watch the intro each time, no skips
It really is. It also cemented to me that, even though Hollywood desperately wants John Cena to be an action star in the vein of Dwayne Johnson, he’s probably closer to a Bill Paxton or Terry Crews: an actor who can do action and comedy, but his best roles are the ones where he’s at least a little bit pathetic in some way.
Cena is fantastic in Peacemaker! I just can’t fathom playing a role where one moment you’re singing jizz-jams with a straight face dressed as late-90’s Britney Spears, then you’re pissing yourself in an airport and trying to push through alcohol withdrawals, then showing up to a circumcision playing a world-traveled philanthropist who can hang with the fanciest crowd you’ve ever seen, (and then perform the circumcision).
What really sells it for me is that throughout the movie and sillyness, Cena lets bits of his anguish come through. Not just through the dialogue, but through his body language. He gives so much depth to Rod, and I imagine just about any other actor would have shown up for the check after reading that script.
At the very least, it gave me immense respect for Cena and how he prepares for roles. When he has a shit movie, (there have been some stinkers), it’s 100% on the director IMO.
EDIT: To add with Peacemaker - there’s a level of noteriety working with Gunn and doing a comic character in the 2020’s that lends itself to preparing for a role and going all out. Can’t say the same for Ricky Stanicky, and that’s what sets it apart for me. If you asked me what the better content is though - far and away Peacemaker.
Ohhhh baby I masturbate, everyday 🎶
I sing this so so often at home
Have yet to see it, but heard its pretty solid.
That other guy is right, Ricky Stanicky is funny as fuck
I can confirm it was surprisingly good.
Double dicking will live on in pop culture
Mark… Mark Wahlberg??
Peacemaker is so good!
yeah im ngl i really enjoy most of john cena’s acting
What? people just say what ever they wan’t facts be damned 😂 He’s been acting since 2006 (The Marine) if you don’t count cameos
Yeah I remember 12 Rounds? It was an action movie produced by WWE themselves. John Cena starred in the first one in 2009. They actually made two more, a sequel with Randy Orton and third in 2016 with Dean Ambrose.
There have been like a dozen of these shitty movies starring wrestlers. I really don’t see how they got any return on them. They all follow the same generic action movie plot. Mr. Kennedy and Ted DiBiase Jr of all people got movies lol. That being said, the one with Moxley was a fun bad watch, as well as the Ziggler one.
I mean serious acting career.
WWE studios movies don’t count.
At first, they tried turning him into a serious action star but the movies were modest hits at best.
In 2015, he leaned into comedy and it worked out the best for him. His cameo in Sisters as a drug dealer is also hilarious.
I wonder why LeBron didn’t pursue his acting career further. After all, he spent many years in LA. The best he can do now is get a recurring role in IASIP.
Go watch space jam 2 and you will know why
in all fairness, Lebron could’ve had a top 10 acting performance of all time and that movie would still be terrible. that script was awful lol.
It’s also more about the fact that a sequel was absolutely unnecessary and there was no chance in hell he would beat out Michael Jordan in Space Jam.
Was an absolute lose lose situation from the get go for LeBron
Money grab.
The pitch probably was hinging on Lebron’s desire to be like or better than Mike.
They figured they could cash in on that and Lebron’s celebrity status and folks would pay them well even if they cut corners.
Nah it’s because they made the bunny less hot. No hot bunny and I can’t jerk so no point
Who wants to see the Looney Tunes being looney, nobody that’s who, so we’ll sideline their antics for most of the movie. And look at all this wonderful Warner IP.
At least the original Space Jam let the Looney Tunes be looney the entire time.
My (probably not) controversial take is that Space Jam 2 is worse than Space Jam 1 specifically because LeBron takes acting more seriously than Jordan does. Space Jam 1 is pure camp because it feels like Jordan is giving the bare minimum on every line, but Space Jam 2 has more of a story, which makes it harder for us (the viewers) to settle into the film and have fun.
They should have just had LeBron do this for Space Jam 2.
A scene of him arguing with Bugs amd Daffy over a check would be funny AF.
Probably because he had another full time job to attend to.
They film in LA 🤣
He’s not a good actor. What’s written for him is decent and his role is novel.
HOW DARE YOU, THAT IS A FINISHER SHOW. A 5 STAR SHOW.
Isn’t iasip recorded in la anyway?
They occasionally film stuff in Philly but the stages, like paddys and guiginos are sets that are in la. Almost completely filmed in LA though.
Bill Hader is HILARIOUS.
Pussies on the pavement
Hold ya hands like ya sistaaaaahs
Spread your shit!
Certified SNL legend
He ended Barry too early too but I get it. Go out on a high note.
He should have ended it after season 3. Season 4 had some moments, but it wasn’t great
Season 4 was DARK. Felt like a very different show.
Speaking of DARK, that’s a great show too.
Season 4 was not a comedy, but it was one of the best finishes to a show I’ve ever seen. Heartwrenching so many times.
Honestly it didn’t even feel like a cliffhanger in the last part of season 3, when they showed up for him. It felt like the perfect happy ending. I told my wife it only was gonna have 3 seasons and we were satisfied, then I was a little bummed when I realized I made all that shit up in my head lol
Him and Anthony Carrigan were spectacular in that show. I liked Anthony in Gotham but he really showed his acting chops throughout Barry
I also loved Stephen Root’s performance in Barry. Recently I saw him on Widow’s Bay too and once again he was amazing.
Unreal that he was the stapler guy in Office Space literally 30 years ago.
i don’t really see how barry could’ve had much more runway tbh
Barrrryyyyyy
WELCOME TO THE GOODY ROOOOOM
Have you heard of “blackula, the black Dracula”?
Going down the rabbit hole!
I thought that was Hughie Campbell
Yeah he’s great huh
Severely underrated
Is he really? Thought everyone loved him.
He is not. He’s properly beloved, both by general audiences and critics / award shows.
barry got some recognition but it still feels pretty niche and i think his dramatic acting chops have flown a bit under the radar still.
I think getting an Emmy for acting in the 1st season of the show that he created qualifies as recognition
He’s the goat for that Malkovich impression alone
He helped invent the fish stick joke
A joke so good the real Kanye still doesn’t get it
I like to imagine Kanye, still to this day, telling anyone who asks that nah he totally gets it now, all the while secretly watching the episode from time to time following along with the whiteboard scene with his own whiteboard
E: did Kanye himself downvote this???
Carlos mencia trying to explain it lol
Just get it bro why don’t you get it
His behind the scenes with Matt and Trey are hilarious! They are constantly cracking up in between lines.
Definitely not underrated he’s highly popular and beloved
LeCheckPocketsThatDontExist GOAT
Those pants are too tight to fit any wallet. Lol
He and Cena were the best parts of the movie (no offense to Bill Hader, all offense to Amy Schumer)
Y’all know Amy Schumer wrote the movie, right?
So did Lin Manuel Miranda with Hamilton, yet, he was still the worst singer out of the whole cast
My favorite fact about Lin Manuel Miranda is that Immortal Technique was his school bully.
True. But that cast is stacked. Lin-Manuel Miranda is a good singer and performer, he’s just completely bodied by a cast of absolute heavyweights.
he’s a good singer the way your uncle does karaoke and people are like “hey unc’s not bad”
As a fellow bad singer, I’ve yet to hear LMM sound good singing at all. Phenomenal writer and composer, but he can’t sing anything other than maybe background roles. Neither can I though so we’ll just be pitchy together.
Good for her, she should’ve stuck to writing and stayed offscreen
I expect nothing less from Chuck Schumer’s cousin
My favorite part is LeBron absolutely bodying Hader in 1 on 1
Yall gotta check out Kevin Garnett in Uncut Gems
There was no acting involved in that. KG didn’t even notice the cameras
I’m gonna fucking cum
I didn’t know shit about basketball at the time and I would have never guessed he was an athlete first and not an actor
He was fun to watch but he was just playing himself.
As opposed to LeBron playing… himself?
LeBron def was, but he was playing a heavily dramatic version of himself. As the friend who’s overly invested in his boys relationship
People say this all the time but I don’t think it’s easy to do. You put most people in front of a camera to film a scene and tell them to just act like themselves, and they’re not gonna do well.
Right. I also don’t understand “just playing himself” in this context, he had to really sell being interested in a rock in a chaotic scene and it’s really compelling. It’s not the kind of situation where you’re just sitting around being yourself, it’s a bona fide sell job and he crushed it.
Yup, some people freeze up just talking to someone attractive, how about when you have the pressure of cameras, crew, etc.
It’s also kind of a weird parasocial comment when you think about it. Like, we have no idea what Lebron is like outside of his public persona
And if you enjoy Uncut Gems you should watch Good Time (imo better than Uncut Gems).
Checking his shirt pockets that dont exist for the wallet that doesn’t exist. Brilliant, a real veteran move
I do the same thing when looking for my keys 🤣
I’m gonna miss him so much when he retires man, he’s been in the league my entire life and I can’t imagine it without him
Yeah, same. He’s the reason I started watching the NBA and why I’m still watching it now.
I sometimes forget how old I am haha. Sore reminder lol. But amazing to witness the longevity of LeBron that his career spans the whole life of someone I can interact with on Reddit.
Felt the same way when TD retired
That shit hits you weird the first time it happens. For me it was Michael Jordan, when I was young, I didn’t realize people got old and retired. I just thought Michael Jordan was going to be Michael Jordan forever and ever. And then when he was gone it was kind of a reality shock. But with LeBron, he’s going to be doing it almost 10 years longer
Lmao “it’s right in the car”
I really wish he’d done more movies.
That aren’t Space Jam.
When given the right setting and he isnt taking himself too seriously or legacy-minded Lebron is pretty hilarious
he would do well in Jump Street or Grown Ups, like why hasn’t he been in an Adam Sandler movie yet
LeBron was a voice actor on Smallfoot and the Teen Titans Go movie.
“Equals forever” is a great line
Him and scalabrine
The part where he drove all the way back for his sunglasses lol
Funny cause i heard he’s cheap irl
Man doesn’t pay for data abroad, “fuck them roaming charges”
His spotify got ads.
Yeah I wouldn’t either. That shit is expensive
It’s not really a problem anymore.
A lot of normal phone plans have international roaming built in - at least for calls and texts. Many include data these days as well, but you have to double check.
If your plan doesn’t include international roaming (whether it’s call/text or data), the advent of esims makes it pretty trivial to get a local sim wherever you are for a good price. So cheap and so easy.
Let me feel justified when the photos of him using Streameast came out
Salmon for $14?!!!!!!!!!
Maybe during Obama 😂 During Trump it’s closer to $30
LeBron with some ominous foreshadowing here… hope he can still feed his family on his veteran minimum contract. He’s clearly hurting for cash, why else would someone in his 40s still be playing?
Hope his good friend bill hader can be there for him in this tough time
Even in his movie rolls they made him tight with his money lol
I seen enough give him an oscar
okay u/Pssay_Licker
Father time is undefeated
Look at that hairline man, it been goin back and forth
LeBron wanting to split the bill ain’t acting
14 dollars for a salmon damn those were the days
That was genuinely hilarious
He absolutely stole every scene he was in.
Bill Hader actually broke the first time Bron adlibbed MC Hammer being broke.
LeBron not paying for a premium account on X and splitting his Philly announcement across multiple posts is all the proof we need of how cheap the Goat is.
I know alot of people clown on Lebron for being a cheapskate but if I had the same amount of money he has I’d be cheap too. Growing up poor that kind of mindset is gonna be hardwired into your brain.
This aged well given the fact he’s been in the league a lil over 20 years 😂😂 and it’s was actually a funny part
I always thought he was so good in this
“Equals forever” that line is delivered perfectly
“No no don’t pay the whole thing, just pay your part. It’s better for our friendship” 😂😂😂
Been posted here before but the scene where he quotes Gold Digger lol:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WCDgJSCQpc
Lmao it’s funnier because I’ve heard he’s cheap irl
I’m gonna miss the NBA when LeBron retires.
Hammer catching strays smh
The bit about Downton Abbey is really funny
I have an ongoing rating system for professional athletes as actors. LeBron falls in the good, not great category. He delivers lines really well and understands the beats, but he has no idea how to use facial expressions.
His acting is awful
Lmao 🤣 this was pretty good. Haven’t seen this movie.
I don’t have wealthy or rich friends but if I did I would never ask or expect them to buy my meal or anything else shit is weird
If my friend invites me to a sports event or a concert, they aren’t paying for drinks, that’s showing appreciation. But if it’s some event and the tickets are cheap (20-50) I’ll just pay the ticket.
Can I ask you a question? Don’t hurt him
😐
(Cheerleaders come out)
I love this sketch and also I completely agree with bill Hader. The much much richer friend pays lunch.
Shit corny
LeBronardo DiCaprio
L’Oscar
Because you’re Lebron James.
I fucking love this line
Biggest surprise is 14 dollars for Salmon dish at a restaurant
He won’t be winning an Oscar anytime soon.
LeDeniro LeMichael B Jordan
Why does Bron look AI-ified in this but Hader doesn’t?
When I saw that in the theater I couldn’t take my eyes off of the hair-piece. Literally the only thing I remember about that film.
What a great punchline holy shit
LeSag
Lebron being a cheapo is actually really funny
Love Bill Hader always steals the show regardless of the movies hes in, will always remember him as Richie from IT though
