Most of the time when you see a poster like this, the dunker is not only shoving the defender away with his off arm but even using to propel themselves higher (hello Blake Griffin). Not only does Castle not do this and his arm is hanging off to the side, his defender is grabbing his jersey and pulling him down.

That series was amazing….
It’s mad that it felt like the real finals, and in the end, it almost might have been, because SAS just unloaded everything they had, physically and emotionally, on OKC….
And then NYC just kind of played their ball, and that was too much for an inexperienced SAS team that didn’t have the same drive.
I really want to see OKC vs SAS first game next season, it really feels like OKC being so dominant in the West made them such a target a lot of people forgot about the East being still strong AF.
Would you agree the Spurs matched their drive, but not their execution? I thought they did as good a job as anyone living up to the crazy requirements that Knicks offense required. They’d make 3 solid rotations on a play and then have a breakdown or the Knicks would hit a tough shot. Even then, their defense was plenty good enough to win the series. When the Knicks played with 4 out spacing and KAT under the basket it felt impossible to guard so I was impressed with how the Spurs played them on that end.
I had the Spurs beating OKC at about 55-45% while Knicks vs. Spurs at 70-30% Knicks. Regular season games don’t mean THAT much but you can learn a bit about match-ups. The Spurs vs OKC game was a bit of a mirror match. Obviously both teams are different, but fundamentally they’re similar in that they play gritty, grindy, physical games. The Spurs outlasted OKC but honestly that series could’ve gone any which way.
The Knicks vs. Spurs was different in that the Knicks had so much more strategy available to them, especially with 3-point shooting rotations that the Spurs struggle heavily against. Plus Mitch Johnson putting on one of the worst coaching performances in history.
It was rock paper scissors. Knicks always beat spurs regular season so true spurs fans knew it wouldnt be easy. So Spurs beat OKC, OKC beats knicks, Knicks beat Spurs.
