Sixers Tyrese Maxey Hits 59 in a Row from 3 After LeBron James Workout
Thank u Mike muscala
The good players teams acquired due to Mike Muscala is longer than you’d think
He’s like the Mike Muscala of Paul George’s in that regard
I’d say he’s like the Paul George of Paul George’s, whereas Paul George is the Micheal Jordan of Paul George’s in that regard
Sometimes it’s easy to forget how unreal NBA players are
And then you have this…

Fucking gross. I swear he is shooting with the wrong hand
He was
No thank you. I can smell a Ben Simmons post from a mile away.
That’s just a socialite shooting hoops in between socializing
Well he’s being guarded, what do you expect
The next one he made, was getting closer
NSFL
He was just meant to build houses.
Brick by brick
The day post-retirement Ben Simmons admits on a podcast he was shooting with the wrong hand will be my Paul Pierce admits he shit his pants during a game moment
Not Safe For Winning
To be fair, its a lot harder to shooting while moving forward than it is standing still in the same, having already warmed up in that spot.
And also how intense NBA level defense is.
It’s always crazy to me they do this and then still only hit 75% from FT.
i can’t remember which player it was that was talking about this, but he said that while the adrenaline and anxiety of playing in front of a crowd does make a difference compared to practice, it wasn’t the biggest factor for him. Rather, he attributed in-game contact, like getting hacked across the hand/wrist/forearm, and the ensuing inflammation/bruising/swelling that seemed to be the biggest difference maker, at least in his opinion.
That just makes me think of how many time brunson rolled his ankle and still somehow got his points in.
I lose concentration when I shoot on my toddlers 4ft rim.
I mean I seen BIG BABY Davis hit like 15 in a row during shootaround once so yeah
Wait didn’t he get into some legal trouble recently? If so then F him
Hit them for all the ones Ben Simmons missed
So what did he take the next 28 shots for?
Insurance.
Maxey is one of my favorite players to watch and just seems like a good dude. Hoping he gets a ring.
Celtics fan? Is this some kind of double reverse shenaniganary?
I’m a basketball fan. Maxey is a great player.
Just because there are a lot of fans that talk endless shit for no reason doesn’t mean there aren’t actual fans that appreciate players, even when they were born in opposing cities.
He was born in Dallas.
Disgusting
You know he has a Cowboys room in his house.
This is the worst news ive heard in a long time
Knicks fans respect Maxey too. Everyone seems to.
Maxey is really tough to root against. His appearance at the dog agility show was very wholesome
Omg what
But, yeah, he just seems like a good person. He is also a badass scorer. I don’t know. It’s easy to hate on players from the regional rivals but…I grew up during the Jeter years. How you hate Jeter? The guy was actual magic. He wasn’t a prick. Sure, fuck the Yankees or whatever, but Jeter (and Mariano, Tino, Paul O, Pettite) were great.
I think too much of the fan shit are just dipshits yelling at each other. Some of the best convos I’ve ever had have been with dudes wearing other teams jerseys.
Maxey is my guy. Hope he gets a ring one day, but not if it involves him knocking the Celtics out.
Same, he’s easily one of the top 3 NBA guys I’d want to meet in real life, seems super chill.
Mesmerizing to watch how long they can keep hitting for
A
Yo
Dosunmu
Not surprising. I figure most guards in the league can hit a number similar to that and Maxey is known to be a good shooter
Years ago I watched a video of Montrezl Harrell at a pick up game draining the ugliest 3s you’ve ever seen from everywhere. Career 10.8% 3pt shooter in the NBA.
Well yeah shooting unguarded at a comfortable pace versus a 6’5 elite athlete with 30+ inch vertical closing out on you lol.
I will say that he was not shooting at a comfortable pace. He was pulling up, off balance, with a leg kicking out and still couldn’t miss. It’s crazy how much better any pro is than literally anyone else. Insert Scal quote here.
Shit man I played beer pong against a lottery pick once and it was a fucking massacre
Height is the greatest advantage in beer pong, no doubt dude had pro level hand eye coordination but all the best beer pong players I knew in college were giants whether they played sports or were a STEM major.
Damn us engineers are catching strays in the beer pong thread.
Yeah he’s 7’
Kelvin Benjamin is closer to Lebron than you are to Kelvin Benjamin
Keljin Blevins
Are we measuring from Kelvin’s radius or the center of mass? That probably makes a big difference on how close he is to someone
For spherical bodies it’s about the moment of inertia
He was not pulling up lmao. Pull ups are shooting off the dribble. He was taking stationary catch and shoots from the same spot where he took a full range of motion - ball down below his chest and back up. That’s a longer shooting motion that you dont get often in real games.
Well maybe I’m misremembering then lol. Point being, if Harrell can shoot that well in a virtually open gym then Maxey is obviously going to be able to string together an absurd number of 3s.
My fault. I thought you meant this vid with Tyrese lol. Im not sure about Harrell
Oh I gotcha. I was like damn this dudes memory is crazy
Maxey is a liiiiiiiiittle better
Just a tiny bit
There’s no way that it’s “most guards” who can accomplish ~50 NBA 3s in a row. These shooters are elite but this level of consistency is still very unusual and remarkable.
lol yeah 59 in a row is crazy
They shot hundreds of threes everyday at a very high rate during practice. Statistically it should happen to most of them at least once
Nope, no way.
Teammate Klay Thompson, who is second in the NBA with 234 made 3s, told ESPN he couldn’t believe Curry had made 77 straight and that his own record streak is 36.
source
If Klay’s record is 36, then it’s just not possible that “most” of these players would have it happen “at least once.”
Even dudes I see at the gym can hit a ton in a row if they’re just standing still and somebody is rebounding for them.
[deleted]
Bot. He hit 59. The captions of the video are the only thing here that (in error) said 39.
EDIT: the algorithm behind u/nowhathappenedwas immediately deleted this after being called out for being an obvious bot. 14 years, 3 mil karma, 600-day streak award. Internet discourse is cooked.
LMAO.
I just got a headache after watching three shots
a similar thing drives me nuts as a musician - camera people thinking it’s so interesting to zoom in on one of the musician’s hands, when they’re using both to play the instrument. It’s utterly unimaginative and useless.. unless you’re a manicurist trying to assess the state of the cuticles on that hand or something..
This the reason LePhilly joined Philly.
Excited for him to score 177 in a game
Are they sitting him in the 4th quarter? Why so low?
How will he ever play off ball with LeBron and JB?! /s
League ain’t ready for fully unleashed off ball Maxey. Bro is going to absolutely fry.
For real. He is great on ball but he is elite off ball. Averages close to 10% higher from 3 off the catch in regular season and playoffs.
I’m not even sure he’s off ball that much. He might just put up insane numbers this year. LeBron makes scoring points look great.
Who has worries about Maxey(or Edgecombe, for that matter) off ball? Every concern I have heard is about Embiid and JB, and how they will fit together and with less usage. That and the defense might be an issue, but they shouldn’t be terrible.
Draymond “salty-LeBron-didn’t-pick-him” Green said that VJ and his agent are going to be very disappointed with his new role. Jeff Teague said VJ’s growth and development would be stunted. A lot of national media have been questioning Maxey’s willingness to play off ball. I’ve heard national media say Maxey’s game will suffer off ball, etc.
I guess I don’t listen to the right(maybe wrong) people then, lol. I have heard people talking about this “stunting” Edgecombe’s growth(as in scoring), but would be good to learn from LeBron long term, but never seen anyone think that Maxey would struggle off ball.
Like, he started his career offball, and it wasn’t until the last couple of years that he really came into his own as an on ball player due to Embiid missing so much time and it being thrust on him.
Jaylen is a great 1v1 defender…just not generally a good help defender
Maxey and Edgecombe are also good defenders, albeit small for guards, and Embiid is still a great rim protector. They just don’t have that one lockdown perimeter guy(maybe JB can be that with a lesser role on offense, he sure clamped Siakam in the bubble) that a great defense needs, and Bron is old, so he can only turn it on in spurts.
Ehh I know Maxey forces turnovers a bit, but overall I wouldn’t say he’s a good defender. Teams will test Maxey perimeter defense and Embiid’s drop coverage defense a lot
Maybe I haven’t watched him a lot, but I feel like a lot of his problems come from being small/slight, and guys just overpowering him. He doesn’t seem lost out there in the games I have watched, unlike say Gradey Dick was his entire Raptors career(also struggled with being overpowered on top of being lost).
maxey is a solid defender, he took a huge leap a couple seasons ago. he did take a slight step back last season, but that was mostly due to his carrying the entire team on offense and playing the most minutes in the league
Sports media. A lot of ignorant media folks are out there going. There’s only one ball. Maxey had high usage percentage and is the sixers point guard. How will he be able to adjust when he’s so used to such high usage.
Like anyone who’s watched sixers ball for the past 5 years knows none of that passes the sniff test yet I’ve been hearing it since Lebron joined.
I said this in another comment, but Maxey started his career off ball and played well in that role. I don’t get why he can’t do it again. Like he played with peak-usage Embiid and Harden. He will do fine playing with LeBron.
Exactly. It’s just a bunch of people who don’t watch the games, look up stats, and then make shit up. Anyone who says that about Maxey hasn’t watched him play enough.
LeBron gave him them New PEDs
LePlug
Maxey about to start yamming on dudes during the season and nobody gonna question a thing lol.
Drugs that make u hit threes?? I need it
LeBron will increase everyone’s 3pt% by 3%
Wet
This kid is what I thought Ja would become
Nice a fellow elbow out shooter
League Fucked
Not interested. Waiting for Ben Simmons workout video.
paul george died for this
Lebron’s aura giving Maxey a temporary buff to his stats.
LeRetadin
I blame the guy that said 57 instead of 56. Messed with his rhythm!
meh no, his shots were already veering a bit to the left before then. it was just a matter of time before he hit the left rim.
hes going to shoot 42% from 3 off LBJ passes this year isn’t he…
prediction: maxey is the best player in the NBA finals by margin but lebron wins it anyway
subscribe
That’s my fucking quarterback.
That Bron juice already making its rounds. Lets goooo
Getting ready fkr all those drive and kick out 3s that Lebron gonna be feeding
Imagine how fun basketball would be if everything you threw up went in like this
when you know youre finals contenders
Maxey training for his new role as a corner shooter you love to see it
For lots of players that’s just normal in practice. There’s a shooting coach online who streamed live and made 1000 in a row. He’s said outright that that doesn’t mean he’d make shots in the NBA.
Come be a Celtic
If you move back a bit you won’t have to keep changing the camera angle
I’ll care if he manages to that in games
That looks like the Mavs G-League team (the Legends) court. Maxey is a Dallas guy… 🤔
The difference is 20, in case anyone was wondering
Can confirm 69
A subtle nod to the 20 years Phil did in the can.
lol, did you stop the video early? You know there are a team of people there counting every single one?
For those of us watching without sound, the captions are wrong.
Now these other people’s moronic comments make so much more sense!
Title is BS - it was 39, not 59. Liar wasting my time. I could’ve hit 39 straight for crying out loud.
Did you watch the video? Can you count? Try turning on your sound, dingus.
it was 39, not 59. The YouTube video and the Reddit title both got that wrong
people in the YT comments are saying it’s an old vid. Not sure if true but if so that wipes out all the “LeBron aura rubbing off” type comments
39 is still seriously impressive! Perhaps most great NBA shooters can do that. But I don’t think it’s an every day occurrence. Most days they probably top out at like 15 or 20 in a row in shooting practice. I think some commenters are understating how impressive this is by acting like NBA players can do this on demand basically
I don’t know if you are an AI troll or a fucking idiot. If you had three minutes to watch the video and the ability to count, you could verify for yourself. LeBron is in the video, by the way, so whatever comments you are calling out are correct and you are again wrong.
Watched it twice, dont see LeBron anywhere.
I wish I had more downvotes to give these dumbass post showing practice.
Miss ya boy, yet?
Miss him? Most Lakers fans didn’t want him around in the first place.
