Fuck no. GSW has a read and react offense and Kuminga has the worst basketball IQ I’ve seen. He’s a gifted physical athlete, and he has the intangibles. He doesn’t have the maturity nor the self-awareness to buy into his role. He’s a threat in a dunker spot, and that’s about it… When engaged he’s a solid on ball defender and one of the worst off-ball defenders I’ve seen in the NBA.

The Warriors have been DYING for someone with actual athleticism for a long ass time. And yet somehow Kerr decided he isn’t worth the playing time nor the headache.

He’s 23 and has athletic physical tools, and can probably change his mindset in the future. That being said, he has an overinflated ego and lacks the maturity right now to buy into his role on any contender/playoff team - I don’t see how the Wolves would work unless he’s able to be self-aware and buy in. Something he has clearly refused to do so in his career.

Going from KAT to Julius Randle, and Naz Reid to Jonathan Kuminga… you’ve got a stronger will than I. 

That’s literally every team. If you ask any fan what their team needs it’s a low usage 3D wing. Knowing those don’t exist/aren’t available, the Wolves are one of the best fits for Kuminga since our entire front court including the backups are extremely low usage and good defenders.

Well, he does tend to shoot a lot of threes, you don’t want him to but he does.

He actually did improve rebounding-wise at the start of last season, but then kind of regressed as the season went on.

Essentially, he could be a good rebounder if he actually put his focus into it, but it is dependent on if he’s engaged in that particular game. Or, if he’s so focused on scoring, then he basically doesn’t do anything else until he has a 10 plus points on the board.

We don’t have that option now it’s more of getting best available in a position of need

Kuminga meshes well with the bench unit but agree the fit with the starters is terrible. And would be a pretty volatile chemistry element to inject into an already combustible locker room.

There are literally no starting level pfs that can do what the wolves want. Unless you want Josh green running around more than he should, we need kuminga.

We were hoping for him to play this role for a while and he absolutely refused to do it. He has the skillset, but mentally just can’t accept it.

The fit is terrible because Kuminga isn’t good at literally anything

Beggars can’t be choosers, Wolves need a power forward in general and he is the best left, you aren’t doing better unless you make a trade.

With the $ we have available we need defense and rebounds. Ain’t no way we get a guy who can shoot

He’s a good 3rd string player, not great if you want him as your main backup and definitely not good if he’s starting and you’re trying to contend. I like him, he’s versatile, can stretch the floor. Not really bad at anything but not really good at anything either other than he’s got a unique playstyle given his size, shooting ability and ball handling with adequate defense. A decent bench player but shouldn’t have a whole lot of expectations to move the needle much

Honestly there are probably 10 or more teams interested at the mid level, easy to trick yourself into him at that price

Can Lakers pay $6M? They used all room exceptions and all trade exceptions. All they can offer is a minimum salary, or sign and trade for Hardy/Vando that Hawks do not want because it would put them over the tax.

And sign and trade requires a 3 year minumum. He’s NOT locking into a smaller number for 3 years. Sign and trade is going to cost you at least 60M for 3 years. And if year 2 and 3 are NOT guaranteed, that number is going to be closer to 90M.

I am not high on Kuminga so I figured being able to fade into a glue guy type role could help him instead of this persona that he wants to be a top 3 option.

Plus if he ends up being a good fit with McDaniels, he could stay long term in Minnesota.
